Absolutely disgusting! The owner is Paul Gilbert and his wife (Pat), their children, and his mother (Joy Gilbert). (I looked into who owns the properties after being so horrified by the conditions.) They have millions of $$$$$ dollars, yet they don’t care about their tenants or their buildings. Just another bunch or rich, snobby, «I’m so great» slumlords. Complete SLUMLORDS. They do not care, and they are not accountable, responsible, etc. Completely unacceptable. Bedbugs: never had them before I moved in. Mice: WTF?! Garbage not removed: gross! Health hazards! Forget about getting a response. Called the building manager many times. I even called Paul. You’d think someone would be ashamed to be associated with or own such a disgusting state of affairs. Tthey know what is going on, so you’d think they’d want to put a stop to the nastiness. But no, not Paul and Pat and the rest at Tetlow. The building managers probably work for minimum wage because the owners know they can take advantage of immigrants and poor people to work for them. NEVER rent from Tetlow. I wish I could give them negative stars.

Well, I’m not super impressed. The landlord is kind of hard to reach, as the invention of voice-​mail seems to have completely passed him by, and forget about email. Your only real options are to call until someone picks up, or slip a note under his office door in the basement. You also slip your rent under a door in the basement. I spend more time passing notes while living here than in all of elementary school. It can be noisy because the buildings are mostly college kids, and trash tends to accumulate in the halls on weekends– rather than bringing your trash to a dumpster or putting it in a trashchute, you leave it by the staircase until it’s collected. This doesn’t happen as often as it should, so don’t bring guests by on Sunday– the whole building stinks.
For pluses, the apartments are pretty nice, the location is fantastic, good laundry facilities, and the super is really friendly. Repairs tend to happen pretty quickly, but sometimes at odd hours, (I’ve had lightbulbs changed at 5 in the morning) and you are, again, forced to rely on slipping notes under doors if you want anything done.
Also, when the super isn’t home, sometimes one of his non-​English speaking relatives shows up to fix things. Fortunately, it’s pretty easy to communicate repair problems in pantomime.

Overall, I’d live here again if I was still going to school in the area. You can get better apartments for less if you go farther out, but the convenience makes up for a lot of small irritations.
