Tech Goes Home (TGH) is a national award-​winning initiative that, since 2010, has successfully provided more than 14,000 Boston residents with the tools, training, and access to support 21st century skill development. Through partnerships with schools and community institutions, TGH offers enrollees 15 hours of hands-​on technology training, a new computer (for a $ 50 co-​pay), and, for eligible residents, assistance signing up for low-​cost Internet.

History

Established in 2000.

The current Tech Goes Home model is based off of the 1:1 student laptop model of the Frederick Middle School in the Grove Hall neighborhood of Dorchester, implemented in 2005. Since 2010, TGH has trained more than 14,000 Boston residents, and the organization and is expanding nationally.
