You are entitled to review my practice as you would another business. However, psychotherapy is a different kind of business. For one thing, I cannot engage in any dialogue about therapy issues in this format as it would violate clients’ confidentiality. In addition, psychotherapy focuses on the therapeutic relationship between client and therapist. Therefore, it is important that, if there is a problem that arises, we work to discuss that problem directly, person-​to-​person. This will help to clarify feelings and may lead to important insights that cannot be gained through anonymous postings.

He is no longer in the Framingham office. Moved without notifying us of the change. At one session literally said «I’m not sure why you are here». Extremely unhelpful, actually damaging.

Our family had a wonderful experience with Dr. Rothenberg. We were seen for family work and neurofeedback and his understanding and emotional connection helped us all achieve our goals. We are so thankful and grateful. We have a special needs child and Dr. R’s kindness and experience have given us direction with our son. So glad we were given his name and followed through seeing him.

Raising a child with Special Needs is hard. Everyone involved in our daughter’s life advised us to find a family therapist. So we did. However, Dr. Rothenberg preferred to meet with just my husband and me.
One particularly awkward exchange,
Us: «We were wondering what the goal is for these meetings.»
Dr. R. «What do you want it to be?»
Us: «Um.. well… what can you do?»
Dr. R. «What do you want me to do?»
etc.
(BTW: We never did figure out the point.)
After several sessions of leaving Dr. Rothenberg’s office and simultaneously declaring the appointment a waste of time, my husband and I discontinued sessions.
