Specialties

South End Buttery is a mainstay for the staples you need to get you through your day: exceptional coffee and baked goods for Breakfast in the morning; fresh salads, soups and sandwiches for Lunch; Full Bar and Dinner Nightly and Weekend Brunch in the restaurant and delicious Takeout Foods all day, every day, from their prepared foods takeout markets at 314 Shawmut Avenue and 37 Clarendon Street. The Buttery’s Chef Andrea Nordby uses simple and minimal ingredients to create contemporary twists on comfort food classics, pastries and desserts that pair beautifully with their affordable wine, beer, specialty cocktail, coffee and tea selections.

It’s like dining in your own home without having to do the dishes! The Buttery also offers an extensive corporate catering menu for breakfast and lunch meetings and will even provide catering services for a dinner or cocktail party in your home.

History

Established in 2005.

The Buttery was conceived in 2005 when two South End residents decided to feed the South End great food all day to eat in or take home or to work. A former criminal prosecutor and investment manager, they opened the Buttery with no food industry experience but a great passion for food and service. Like any buttery you would find in England, the Buttery serves fresh, simple, top-quality food throughout the entire day. With award-winning coffees and teas, house made biscuit breakfast sandwiches, seasonal soups, gourmet sandwiches and salads and scratch pastries made from their own pastry kitchen, The Buttery quickly became a neighborhood mainstay.

2008 saw a restaurant/bar expansion with dinner service daily and weekend brunch. In 2012 they grew again, adding a prepared foods takeout market next door and a second location on Clarendon St. offering fresh, healthy take-away foods. The Buttery also offers corporate and home catering services, baking classes, wine dinners and much more.
