Smoothie King

Lean 1 chocolate smoothie with peanut butter. Delicious, low in calories, tons of protein, and ridiculously filling. And on Fridays, they have mediums for only $ 5! Awesome place, definitely try it out if you’ve never been.

Literally the most unfriendly place in back bay. You can’t even ask them how they are, or how their day was they just want you to go away. Also they closed 20 minutes early and refused to let customers in and one of the other workers said they HAD to let people in because they weren’t closed yet. What is going on with this place???

First and last time going here. They use STYROFOAM cups! Plus the smoothie I just got tastes very fake. If you want a good smoothie go to the juice/​smoothie bar in the Prudential center, it is by far 100 000 times better than this place and it’s organic and they use environmentally friendly cups, like most places should be doing by now. I will never go to Smoothie King again.

To say they have a rude staff would be an understatement. When I asked questions about the product, the cashier made me feel that I was annoying her. Both ladies showed no sense of urgency. Instead of focusing on their task at hand, they complained about their boss. Smoothie was average at best. Was my first time here, definitely my last.

It’s a bright little place with music playing and the walls lined with protein and health products. The people working here are super quiet, so I had to ask her to speak up 4 times. FOUR TIMES. They also have a weird thing where you pay at a different cash register for no apparent reason since it’s never crowded and there’s only 2 workers. Walk to far wall to order, walk near door to pay, walk to middle of store to pick up. It’s poor planning. Employees are also exceptionally rude to people from what I’ve seen here waiting for my drink. They’re pretty slow too
Smoothies are really good. I’m allergic to strawberry so I can only have about 3 of them, but the passion passport is my fav. They’re very fruity and refreshing. It’s thick, no watering down here! Smoothies are well worth it all.

Smoothies are super tasty, but pricey. The customer service was pretty bad though. When I was telling the cashier my order he seemed so confused. He then made my smoothie and messed up once and swore… Then tossed that out! Wasted! Then remade it and wasted so much of the leftover smoothie! He threw half of it out so it could fit in my small cup. Lame! I wasn’t impressed.

1 Star for terrible service every single time I’ve been here. WHY WHY WHY do we pay at a separate register?! And why does it take so long? Their workers are god awful.
The only reason why I keep coming here is because it is so difficult to find a smoothie place in Boston that isn’t overpriced.
I wish they put more veggies in their veggie smoothies, too.

Stopped there today for a smoothie.
Each time I’ve stopped in this Smoothie King there are hardly any customers (usually none at all). Today I figured out why:
I ordered a «small» 20oz smoothie for $ 5.50.
I watched the employee making the smoothie LICK HIS FINGERS. I had already payed and was tempted to ask for my money back. I should have.
To make matters worse he then accidentally spilled a large portion of my smoothie, but there was some left in the blender and so he just gave me a ¾ filled smoothie.
For $ 5.50 a smoothie on Newbury street I would expect the employees to be trained a little better. Shouldn’t they wear gloves? How about fill the smoothie to the top or remake it if they spill some? Also, get some new cups. Nobody uses styrofoam anymore!

The horrible customer service in this place makes me never want to go back, regardless if the smoothie was any good or not. No one paid attention to the customer when you walk in, and the girl behind the counter was more concerned about emptying their tip cup before taking our order or making the smoothie. The girls had disgruntled looks on their faces and couldn’t even crack a smile. Get some new employees, smoothie king!

The banana boat smoothie is life altering. It’s seriously amazing, I can’t even walk down Newbury anymore without wanting to stop in and get one. The prices can be a little steep for a college budget, but the delicious smoothies are definitely worth it.
Every time I’ve gone the service has been good too! I’ve had the same young lady behind the counter the last few times I’ve gone; shes always very smiley and friendly and is open to explaining the differences between all of the options.

It was HOT out and I wanted something to quench my thirst. Walked by smoothie king and remembered I had a delicious drink when I went to a store in Seoul so I decided to come in.
This place was pretty small and since it was in the basement level, it seemed more cramped than usual. It didn’t help that there were just too many things crammed into this little store — sometimes less is more.
There were three workers but for some reason only one guy was actually helping customers and the other two was in the back or restocking materials at the front of the store… ummmm… I think the company needs to provide a refresher course on providing timely customer service.
I ordered a mangofest smoothie since it was the only thing without turbinado or sweetener. I asked if it was made from fresh juice and was told that its fresh and from concentrate so it’s a «blend». It’s sad that I can only have fresh fruit smoothies in Asia, where fruits grow aplenty.
The small is actually pretty big and was satisfying. The smoothie itself was OK, but you can really taste the difference between concentrate and fresh juice. All in all it quenched my thirst and was refreshing, but it just lacked a certain something…

Smoothie place/​juice bar. It’s pretty good. For what you pay you are getting a substantial amount of smoothie. No place to sit inside or outside. The staff are apparently overworked, talking about working 50 hours a week for a couple weeks in a row. Overall service was friendly and fast. I’ll probably come back to try the other flavors. I got the Light N Fluffy this time, and it was pretty good.

Never been to a Smoothie King before, reminded me of a Jamba Juice… but Jamba Juice seems to have become diluted and strayed away from their focus on drinks. Would definitely choose Smoothie King over Jamba Juice if given the choice.

All hail the Smoothie King! I will gladly bow down to his smoothie concoctions, because they’re awesome.
The sheer number of options on the menu dominates over the competition. And beyond the multitude of choices, you can customize however you like. The smoothies that I’ve tried are a whole lot sweeter than I’m used to, but is that a bad thing? No freaking way! My favorite so far is the Raspberry Collider (bananas, raspberry sorbet, raspberry purée, orange juice, and electrolyte mix), and it packed a powerful punch of sugary sweet flavor.
I also like that they use styrofoam cups when serving up their smoothie magic. It serves as an excellent insulator for the cold goodness inside, so you can carry it around in frigid temperatures and not freeze your hand off. Your phalanges will thank you! And yes, Smoothie King’s smoothies are good enough to warrant being purchased on a ten degree day.
So overall, pretty amazeballs. Will I be back? Totes MaGotes!

Small is a decent size, like a large soda. I changed my order down from a medium because of that!
I got the Pineapple Surf, sans turbinado. It was ridiculously sweet… and I love sweet things. Pineapple, strawberries, kiwi juice, and vanilla protein powder… I suppose it could have used more acidity? But pineapples and kiwis can be pretty sour. IDK. I couldn’t finish the whole drink.
Manager (owner?) was so friendly. He really is a people-​person. A woman came in who was pregnant, and he asked her how she was feeling, which I thought was really nice.
Nice selection of other snacks, like jerky, granola bars, candy and other drinks in the fridge. That jerky was looking mighttttty good.

Twice now I’ve had the pleasure of ordering from two of the most unpleasant cashiers. If I’m paying you ten bucks to put a couple of things into a blender, you could in the very least smile and give me my drink politely. These girls had the nastiest stank faces on from start to finish.
The store layout is also terrible. You walk the the end of the little shoo to place your order then walk back through the crowd towards the door to pay and get your smoothie. It creates a confused crowd. Anyway– pi

I like it here. Friendly staff, and the smoothies are always delicious. I try to order the somewhat healthy ones, but the sugary ones sound so good.
And the large sizes are extremely filling– it’s 4pm and I’m still full from one I had at around 10:30am.

Who is this Smoothie King, and why is he ruling unopposed? I almost want to start a business at home with my Ninja blender and drive the king off his throne. Seriously, his smoothies suck (the last one I had was horribly sour – had the berries gone bad?), and the Styrofoam cups they come in are tacky as hell.
