CEO Cheryl Clarkson founded SkinHealth Centers for a personal reason: a mission to find a cure for maligant melanoma. An experienced CEO, Cheryl has successfully run companies in medical devices and health care for the past 30 years

For Cheryl, entrepreneurship — founding SkinHealth in 1999– was a mission launched by a personal crisis. Her sister – and only sibling and best friend in the world – was diagnosed with malignant melanoma, and shortly thereafter at the age of 40 succumbed to the deadly disease.

What made this radical career switch possible was passion, experience, and preparation. The last she earned as an MIT Sloan Fellow.

I knew I could lead people and organizations, but in this phase of my life, I wanted to be a leader in skin cancer prevention and in skin health, within the marketplace and within society. I have been going to Skinhealth Center for just over a year. I go to the Boston location on Newbury St. where I see Reeli. She is excellent. I have noticed an improvement in my skin. I highly recommend going to Reeli.

My friend referred me to go to skin health for laser hair removal on my chin. I figured it’d be like any skin place. I was so pleasantly surprised. The sweet blonde receptionist was so friendly and super helpful with any questions I had. The spa in general is super hygienic and very relaxing. And my chin is now baby soft. I’ve done laser hair removal before where the hair did not completely go away. I can already tell after two sessions that the laser used at skin health is top of the line and my hairs will not be coming back any time soon. I highly recommend skin health!

I think Dr. Townsend is great!
I was referred by a friend and I’m so glad I made it in. I received some lip filler and I’m really happy with the result. Dr. Townsend was conservative and put me at ease while doing the procedure. I didn’t want anything drastic just a lil’ something since my lips are on the fairer side. He knows what he’s doing and he’s a very educated man. He even said if I wanted a little more I could always come back in a week or two. I really appreciated that. All in all, a good experience!

I have been going to Skinhealth Center for years. 1st in Wellesley, now in Boston on Newbury St. where I see Reeli. I was so surprised to see a negative review here, because my experience has CONSISTENTLY been excellent. The staff is courteous and the clinicians are superb. At both locations, my aestheticians have been there for years and that says something good! I highly recommend.

I’ve read the reviews before, and still gave a try, But I realize it was a big mistake I made. The doctor destroyed my face. I can’t go work because of the damage he has done to my face. I called back, he said it will be fine in few months. So do not go there, trust me.

I had the most awful experience with Dr. Townsend. He was rude, careless, and treated me with disrespect. He injected fillers under my eyes with no regard to what would happen to my face. The fillers were so uneven, and when I pointed out to him, he injected more and made it worse. I was so horrified and devastated by the results. I was crying and shaken after seeing what he had done to my face. While I was so vulnerable and traumatized by his awful job, he told me I needed to act like a grownup! Never again do I allow this awful man to touch my face and insult like this. I could not leave the clinic with such an awful look. His wife (Cheryl) ordered one of technicians to put a heavy makeup on me to cover up the mishaps. She kept telling me that bumps would disappear soon. Well, 2 months passed and there were no improvements. In fact my face looked disfigured. I was not going to go back to see Dr. Townsend to mess me up further. I went to another place to have it repaired. It took a year plus to correct the mistake he made. It was a horrifying experience, and I will never again visit this clinic.

I sought out treatment for acne. For my initial appointment, I wasn’t seen until 25⁄30 mins from my set appointment time. Throughout my schedule appointments I was left at times feeling lost, when I probed for clarity of what to expect and how each session would be handle I received the same short answer responses every time. I felt my questioning became an inconvenience to the aesthetician. My confusion and lost of hope did not receive any concern or attention. No improvements to my acne. I was surprised with the amount of breakouts I had while seeking out service. The receptionist was pleasant.

First time visitor, and I really enjoyed the experience. I was quite leery about the treatment sought, and the staff did much to put my mind at ease. They answered every question honestly and thoroughly without sugar coating possible side effects or bad reactions from other patients.
Dr. Townsend was very gentle and conservative. Especially for a newb — that allowed me to relax.
The only slight inconvenience was needing to wait — fearing my parking would expire. Otherwise, I am so pleased this far!

I first went to SkinHealth Centers because I had a groupon type offer. That was 5 years ago and they are now my go-​to skincare place for everything. Between hydrasonic facials, microdermabrasion, peels, facials (and the occasional injection) my skin looks great but natural, which is really important to me. It is not easy for me to trust someone with my skin, but I trust the doctors and estheticians at SkinHealth Centers.

I got my botox treatment last year, and the effects were visible within about a week. At 62 years old, I finally feel I’ve gained back the physical confidence I lost thirty years ago. The specialists at Skinhealth were so reassuring and knowledgable, answering all of my questions throughout the whole process. As strange as it may be to have a chemical injection in your face, the doctors informed me on everything I should expect and made my visit exciting. I have already sent three friends in for botox treatment, all of whom have returned satisfied. You won’t regret it.

I had a very bad experience with filler injection, which had to be reversed it was so badly done. Recently I learned their nail service at Chestnut was shut down in a day, firing a dear woman who had built and worked hard in that dept. for 9 yrs.- just because «they were going on to bigger things». No notice at all — just ejection.
I don’t care to patronize a company who treats employees so horribly.

Went for eyelid surgery. Dr. Townsend didn’t even look at me… just immediatley drew a line on my upper and lower lids. Had excessive bleeding caused by a miss with the instruments. He sutured the corner of one eye too tight. I am a year and a half since my surgery and every day I think of Dr. Townsend as my eyes water, vision blurs, and I have zero positive results. I have told no one that I had the surgery and friends (even my husband) have said that if I were to have any procedure done, I should have my eyes done! The most disappointing experience possible. $ 4,000 later and I look worse than when I went in.

Came here for Botox in December 2011. Dr Townsend was very nice (if late) and listened to what I wanted. I explained I’ve had Botox several times before with varying results and that I was not afraid to go a little overboard.
He seemed to go to town, not great hand I might add (first time I’ve had this done that it hurts). I was told by the Dr that he was so thorough I would most likely not need a touch up and this was important to me as I had to make a two hour trip to get there. A few days later I started feeling the tell-​tale signs, as expected. I was pretty psyched. Then, two weeks later: nothing. You could not noticed any difference. So I made an appointment for a touch up. Another two hour ride. Dr. Townsend actually seemed shocked by how bad my results were. Went to town on my forehead, once again. No charge. Which is great because again: no results. I’m talking about NO difference whatsoever. So I give up on this place. Incidentally, I had a RueLaLa coupon and still paid more than I ever had.

I cannot emphasize enough how AMAZED I am at how well my appointment went. Long story short, I had a cyst above my eye that was from a ruptured hair follicle or something of the sort. Dr. Townsend and Nurse Pietsch were so good to me and I am sure I was a very annoying patient (I almost passed out, needed, juice, etc., etc. I am still embarrassed). Anyway, there was no reason for me to almost pass out because this procedure was literally painless. Novocain? Didn’t feel the needle. Cutting into my cyst to excise it? Didn’t feel that either. Seriously, I am so relieved and thankful to the Skin Health team. THANK YOU.

I went here for laser hair removal about 2 years ago after getting a deal on Buy With Me. The service is very friendly, and the technician was knowledgeable.
The treatment worked fairly well in some areas, but not well at all in others (which isn’t a surprise with how the system works). I’ve gone back for touch ups and the last one left my skin pretty irritated– but I don’t think that’s their fault.
However, this is getting three stars because I’ve gone to another place since, A&A Laser, Electrolysis and Skin Care, and I like their laser (the machine itself) much better. The laser at SkinHealth was somewhat painful, and this one is much less so. It’s not just the area, because I’m working on the same patches of skin.

Went for a non-​surgical procedure. Service was good, but wait was about 30 – 40 min past my scheduled appointment. Second time my appt was rescheduled. When i went there my appointment somehow was not in the system, but they took me after a 15min wait. Ok for that. For the procedure itself, I would give a 3 out of 5. Service 5 out of 5.

and found it to be an excellent skincare center with a knowledgeable staff, fair prices, and a great range of services.
I had a microdermabrasion service by Lynde, which was excellent. The only thing that would make SkinHealth better is if it was expanded into a full day spa, with steam, jacuzzi, sauna, etc… something very much missing in Boston.
