Overall they did a great job! Fast, efficient and friendly. They did a good job wrapping and padding our furniture and went the extra mile to strategically pack all of our belongings into the moving truck as we were making a cross country move. They accidentally dropped a box of liquor and a filing cabinet and reimbursed us without hassle. I would recommend Rare Movers without reservation.

Fantastic movers! On time, under budget, and VERY PERSONABLE. Made my moving experience a much more peaceful than when I tried to move myself a couple years back.

I just spent 12 hours with these guys. They are friendly, courteous, funny, and incredibly strong. Despite having to deal with probably a literal ton of furniture from three floors to three floors up and down windy stairs, they kept up their amazing attitudes the whole way. On top of all that, Antoine, Fred, Barkley, Zach and Keirin are really interesting people. I’d definitely recommend them to anyone.

I can’t believe that this is only the 10^th review — this company and the staff are PHENOMENAL! We submitted a number of requests for quotes when we found out we were moving and RARE was the lowest by far — nearly $ 1500 less that the competitors. As our moving date approached I sent an email to find out if the price they quoted was subject to fluctuate and heard back immediately from Kamaul, the owner. He offered to come out to our apartment and do a walk-​through and give us a more concise estimate. He did this a few days later and suggested that we could cut our packing and moving expenses even more if we did some of the packing ourselves. BAM — the next day they dropped off boxes and tape. Ciaran (an awesome Irish guy) came back to our apartment three days before the scheduled move to assess our progress and give us a final quote — amazing!
This whole process has been nothing short of spectacular. The packers and movers were incredibly polite, efficient, and hard-​working. We have two dogs and six month old twin girls — moving is stressful enough and for us this was an incredibly seamless process. I RAREly (haha) write reviews but felt compelled to do so for these guys. Thanks a ton!

Wonderful company, very professional and committed to providing excellent customer service. The owner is involved in all aspects of the operation, easily accessible and understand. I had two respectful and hard working movers that tried to make a difficult situation go as smoothly as possible. Highly recommended.

We had a great experience with Rare Movers. They were flexible with dates, professional, quick, and friendly. And very reasonably priced. Only reason I gave 4 instead of 5 stars was that they did significantly underestimate the amount of space needed to move our stuff so we had to make a second trip with a uhaul to pick up more items. However, otherwise I would highly recommend them.

Larry and Nate are friendly, efficient and experienced. They made quick work of a crosstown move. All the things I was anxious about (if the couch would fit through the doorway, etc.) they managed with ease.
Everyone knows moving is stressful and one major reason I hired a team was to take the worry out of the process. Mission accomplished thanks to these two!
Rare Movers is professional, responsive and reliable. It’s never cheap to hire a moving company but I felt they were fair in the rates.
From the first phone call with the owner Kamaul, my experience was that of dealing with real people not a business to big to be personable.

RARE Moving is an excellent moving company. They showed up on time (30 minutes early actually). The four movers were courteous, efficient, and careful. The owner was available to address problems/​questions before the move date and after. For example, I had to change the date of the move and RARE was able to make the change without hesitation. In fact, the receptionist/​scheduler was pleasant to deal with and confirmed everything by email, including the delivery of wardrobe boxes.
I would give RARE five stars, except for one snafu. The original plan had been for RARE to send us two trucks (with four men) and they confirmed this via email before the move, but on the day of the move, they sent us one truck (with four men). I would suggest that clients make sure that they confirm with the owner the number of men and trucks they need so there is no misunderstanding. As it turns out, we had to put some of our things into storage (at RARE’s facility), a last-​minute development. If we had two trucks, I think we would have saved a lot of time since we had to make two trips — to the house and to the storage facility. The move took the whole day and came in $ 1000+ higher than the estimate. I take some responsibility for this, but it would have been cheaper if they had sent two trucks as originally planned.
In any event, I hope to upgrade this review rating to five stars after RARE moves the stuff out of storage into our new home in August. So far, I am delighted with the company and am using them again for the second phase of our move.

Saviors!!! In one word, that would explain it all.
I had a very heavy new refridgerator with «free shipping» that was unsuccessfully delivered twice by JB Hunt and Final Mile Services.
Owner Kamaul called immediately the same day, said he loved a challenge when I said we’d probably have to crane it into my 3^rd story window after the failures. He sent one of his best men the next morning for a free in-​person estimate and measurement. They came two days later when it worked with my schedule with two guys and deftly navigated the behemoth up the tight New England stairwell to my place.
Returning it was not an option and they made my day! Very reasonable prices with two hour minimum — much cheaper than a crane! I will be a repeat customer – Very impressed.

AMAZING!!! They are such life savers and I cannot thank them enough. When my massive couch didn’t fit through the door of my tiny apartment, they wasted no time in hoisting it through the second story window. In my experience, most people would’ve just accepted that the sofa didn’t fit — but not these guys! They were on time, really nice, and extremely professional. Next time I move I am definitely calling them again.

Flashback to a month ago when I called every moving company in the city to schedule my ⁸⁄₃₁ move and no one was available except for Rare. The quote they sent me was half what everyone else quoted, and they called and emailed confirmations of the reservation and arrival times.
My husband and I moved from a 2.5 bed, 2-​floor place in Cambridge to a 3.5 (3^rd story walk-​up) in Watertown and these guys were AMAZING!
They showed up 15-​minutes early, very politely introduced themselves and walked around the house with me to assess delicate items, large furniture and any special instructions I had… and then the whirlwind began. With actual lightning speed, they hauled every box and piece of furniture out, including furniture that I was CERTAIN would not fit through our tiny, crappy doorway (it had been brought in un-​built originally) they squeezed through effortlessly. They didn’t scratch, ding or disturb anything. They even dismantled the few very large pieces of furniture that I was dreading dismantling myself.
At one point during the move, I realized that my help was totally not needed. I just did my best to stay out of the way as these men machined there way through the process.
They finished within 5-​minutes of the estimated time and there were no hidden fees or surprise charges. I would and will hire them again a million times over. What a completely pleasant experience! THESE GUYS ARE AMAZING!

Used these guys to move a spinet piano from Cambridge to Charlestown RI. Their quote was hundreds of dollars below any other quote and the guys were personable and did a great job. I have already recommended them to friends!

I found these guys on Unilocal with 5 star reviews so I called along with calling a bunch of other places. These guys were the only moving company that came through for me at the last minute when I needed a piano moved from 3^rd floor apartment in Boston to house in suburbs the next day! Everyone else either didn’t call me back at all or said they couldn’t do it on short notice. One company said they could do it, but were going to charge me a LOT. Rare moving not only said they could do it, but their flat fee price was half the price of the other company. They were extremely professional — both the people who answered the phone and took the order, and the guys who delivered the piano. They took my credit card info over phone so I didn’t need to deal with cash. They showed up exactly when they said and delivered exactly when they said (actually a little earlier). Really it was one of the best business transactions I have ever done. I gave the guys a good sized tip, which I don’t always do, but everything went so smoothly and the guys were so professional and friendly that I felt I should. Really awesome experience.

We used RARE to move from Marshfield to Duxbury in Oct 2012. We had a lot of boxes as well as many, many large pieces of furniture to move that needed TLC. Plus a 800 lb wood burning stove that was still attached to the chimney. After 4 guys in 2 26′ trucks spent 7 hours tirelessly dedicated to getting us packed, the trucks were packed and ready to be parked for 2 nights until the unload. The guys made it look easy though and they were on top of whatever needed to be done without much direction from us.
The drop off was a separate day, and again, the 4 man crew diligently did their duties. And not only were they kind with our stuff, they were also really nice guys who you could share a laugh with… although they were always professional and would not slow up the process during side talk.
And kudos to owner Kamaul Reid who I had contacted post-​move about some minor bush damage that the big trucks did while maneuvering through our driveway. His response was incredibly speedy and he reimbursed us for the damages instantly.
I can’t say enough about this crew. We found them through Angie’s list (where they received top honors) and we would certainly use them again! (only hopefully our next move is six feet under… because boy packing/​unpacking stinks!)
PS. I recommend all people hiring movers make sure you have drinks and food ready for the guys. Just pad your estimate to include it because it’s important to keep the guys fueled.

I used this company for a move from Cambridge, MA to Worcester, MA. The owner, Kamaul Reid was a pleasure to work with over the phone and in person. He was professional, polite, courteous, and accommodating. He responds literally right away (called me back as I was leaving a message) and takes the time to answer any questions you might have. He also was helpful in anticipating my moving needs and organizing the appropriate supplies I needed.
The move itself went seamlessly. I hired two men for the labor who were efficient, polite, competent, careful, and excellent at planing ahead… clearly experienced movers! I can’t say how pleased with them I was. One of them even found an old sports-​bra under my bed and were nothing if not discreet in mentioning it and tucking it away in the mattress bag. As a testament to their efficiency, they estimated it would take about 2 – 3 hours to move me out of my one bedroom and they finished closer to 1.5 hours.
Additionally, they were the most affordable company I could find. I feel fortunate to have found a company that provided a cost-​conscious move without compromising on quality. Truly a «RARE» find.
After so many horror stories from others about slow, inefficient, and coarse moving companies, RARE Moving & Trucking Inc. seems like the obvious choice and will be the first company I call for my next move… I’d suggest you do the same!

I used the company on November 18, 2011. They are the best relocation specialist around and I won’t use or recommend anyone else. They were on time, very personable and quite charming, polite, they worked in an well-​organized but speedy manner and I have to second Jim M.’ comment: the guys were totally hot! ;).

Rare Moving & Trucking has been most gracious about my constant rescheduling of my moving date. From the word ‘go’, the owner (Kamaul Reid, who has written his own book) and all the staff have been most wonderfully kind and accommodating.
And now, the actual moving was done quickly by Gabe Larsen and James (a former football player who leaped and up stairs then carried several boxes and heavy items down them. They were SO wonderful, gave me a hefty discount, and charged me $ 15/​hour LESS than quoted/​budgeted. They do come well-​recommended — VERY well-​recommended!
Just mark your stuff well where you want it to go when you arrive so they can expeditiously place it where it should be for unpacking.

I used this company last November. They were able to take me on short notice (due to a sudden passing of papers on the old house), and did an absolutely fantastic job. I could not be more pleased.
