Our family ended up here at 1am after flying in on an unexpectedly delayed flight. It was a great find and would recommend it to anyone and everyone. Our kids devoured the Sonora Dogs and my husband and I killed the tacos. They were so good we wanted to order more to take to the whole family we were visiting in central MA. Friendly & welcoming owner/chef, small but clean space and FANTASTIC food!!! A must whenever we are in Boston!

I’d go back in a heart beat. The beef saltena was amazing. It was the first one I’d ever had, and the first flavor combination of the sort — and I loved it. I could have kept eating them as a lunch. It was by far my favorite. They served it wrapped up and with a spoon, however we all ate it with our hands and loved it. The owner(I think it was him) was so patient, knowledgeable, and kind. We didn’t realize we couldn’t put tip on the credit card and he wasn’t even going to say anything and when we mentioned it, he still said not to worry. We of course pulled together some cash, because he deserved it. Now we now for next time that cash would be better. Some of the items were already sold out, which is a testament to how good this place is. The specials were delicious, particularly the peanut based soup and the brisket. I had a thin breaded meat, from the menu, which was good but not as good as the other stellar items. Don’t get me wrong — I ate and enjoyed every bite. :) The place is super small — just a few tables, but he seemed to make do. I also noticed a lot of take out business. We didn’t order anything from the Mexican part of the menu, so I am unable to comment on that part. We went on a Sunday and street parking was fine. Our friend took the T and said it was easy. I heard he was starting a food truck… yay!

Beef tongue taco is soooooo good! Just like the kind you get in Mexico. The only downside is the place needs more ventilation. You smell like fried food after walking in the door.

Good Burrito. The Saltena was new to me and I didn’t love it, but what do I know. Thumbs up for Jarritos soda. I love orange. The people at the counter were super nice. Reasonable prices.

OMGSOGOOD!!! I love Que Padre — a friend of mine from Bolivia introduced me awhile back and I’ve been hooked ever since. The saltenas are phenomenal — little pockets of heaven with a sweet-ish doughy shell and savory interior(I prefer the beef ones). The piqué a lo macho is spot on and could easily feed 2 – 3 people or be a shared plate for the table. I just tried the fricase this past weekend and it has just the right amount of heat(a little on the spicy side, but I like it that way) and tender, pull-part pieces of pork. Victor is so helpful and friendly — I definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Boston!

Place is great for a quick lunch or take it out. I got two chicken tacos and beef empanada. I can’t stress enough how delicious it was. If you want authentic Bolivian and Mexican, go here.

This small place is run by a couple – one from Bolivia, one from Sonora in Mexico. It is clean and bright, but there are only three tables. Their food is delicious and cheap. So far have had the tostadas, tacos, salteñas, and the Sonoran torta. The tostadas and tacos are out of this world. The marinade and seasonings are simply perfect. The chicken is particularly good. We asked for guacamole and the guy made it right there. Just writing this review makes me hungry for some of their tostadas. Now for the salteñas – anyone who comes here should try them. Just know that they are a little sweet. They have a savory filling, but both the pastry and the filling are sweet. The pastry is of a kind similar to empanadas found elsewhere in the neighborhood, except that it is sweet. The pastry is also top notch. It is pastry craft of a very high order. Finally, I have to be somewhat less enthusiastic about the Sonoran torta. First of all, it is not a cake or tart of any kind. It is a sandwich, served on a typical soft white grinder roll. While as a sandwich it is not bad, it had some kind of sauce on it which I did not like too much. I think it was the jalapeño sauce. Maybe it has a component of mayonnaise from a jar, which I really dislike. This looks to be something on the hot dog too; anyone with my tastes should be wary of that. The food is as good as it is inexpensive. We live in Beachmont, and I am thrilled to have a new go-to option for eating out nearby. I look forward to having the steak and eggs(something you see a lot of in Latin America) and other delights their menu offers. That is, if I can bear to miss the opportunity to have more of their tacos.

Their vegetarian saltenas are SO good. I really wish I lives closer so I could support their business more often. Yum.

A hidden gem in east boston serving authentic delicious Mexican and Bolivian food. Victor who was both preparing the food and serving was very warm and friendly. We ordered a empanada and flauta plate. The empanada was very flavorful and juicy, sweet pastry shell with potatoes peas and chicken in a savory sauce… hmm hmm good! The flautas plate was equally delicious! huge portions with rice, beans, guacamole, pico de gallo. most places the sides taste just ordinary. At Que Padre even the pico de gallo was outstanding. We were served a home made hot sauce which was simple and spicy, you could taste the fresh ground habanero peppers and tomatoes… that was it no vinegar no citric acid and other crap in tabasco. The food was very reasonably priced. It is a very small space with 3 tables but very clean.

My husband is from Bolivia — and needless to say — he doesn’t get very many opportunities to have the food he grew up on here in Boston. We’ve found a few places here and there … a place in San Francisco(which has since closed down) and a good place in Miami — but we had pretty much given up hope around here. Enter(of all places…) Que Padre. When I first told him that it opened and that they had bolivian food he laughed because he thought I was kidding(«A Mexican place… reallyy??)… But we went and met the owner and then downed a good 7 – 9 beef saltenas hot and fresh out of the oven. I’m no expert — but I think they’re the best ones I’ve ever had… but the honey was so happy… and for that alone — we will be back many many more times. Perfect crust. So hot and juicy. A little hot sauce… and magic happens. :)

Great hole in the wall spot in Eastie. Excellent quality and the Sonoran Dog is almost identical to the originals in Arizona. The flautas and Sonoran torta are great choices too if hot dogs aren’t your thing. The saltenas were incredible and agree with a previous reviewer to try them. Victor was really outgoing and the great service added to the experience. Great job Que Padre, we’ll definitely be back.

I heard about a restaurant opening that served Bolivian food and I was there the first week it opened. I brought my Bolivian mom as a surprise. We ordered saltenas and silpancho. I have eaten these dishes before in Bolivia and I could have been eating them at Hotel Cochabamba. Delicious, authentic and served with a smile. My mom was very pleasantly surprised and actually got teary eyed eating the saltenas. The food was delicious. I bought a bunch of saltenas and kept them frozen in the freezer, eating them as a snack for the next week.

First off, definitely make sure to order a saltena. We spoke with the owner and he actually went back to Bolivia to perfect his skills. Saltenas are so authentically Bolivian(I went with two Bolivians) and not something you normally see. These are appropriately juicy and packed with the required olive, egg, meat, etc. We shared the other three Bolivian plates as well. They are all very good; overall the Piqué A Lo Macho was my favorite. Don’t be prepared for fast service, but I’d say that makes it more authentic, anyway. The prices(especially for the Mexican dishes) are reasonable and the food is delicious, so I definitely recommend Que Padre.

This is a great place, simple menu and delicious food. The owner Victor is nice and friendly, it was slow when we ate there and he chatted with us for a bit. I tried the Sonora Hotdog and Cheese Quesadilla, both very good, and next time I’ll have to try the burrito and tacos. My friend got the Sonora Hotdog too, as well as the Saltena, which he said was excellent. The menu also has some Bolivian plates that are available Fridays from 2pm through Sunday. Also to note: the tortillas are made fresh in Mexico and available the next day here!
