On Your Feet Project is a wonderful organziation that benefits local charites.
What’s not to like?

A good outlet for young professionals to volunteer their time and skills and meet new people, all while benefitting the community. Benefit events range from wine tastings to cooking classes (what can I say, we love food) to game nights and more are being added all the time.

so i started with oyfp about a month ago and felt good vibes from the start. everyone is super friendly and there is no pressure to become extravagantly involved. like casey said, it’s just an avenue to become more aware. so far, so good! i’ve participated in a halloween decorating project at the italian home for children in JP as well as christopher’s catwalk last week. everyone is out to have a good time while also giving to the community… can’t get any better than that. oh, and you meet some really cool people in the meantime!

I’ve been trying to get to an OYFP event since the summer and I finally got a chance to see what these people were all about a couple weeks ago when I went to their Novemberfest. This particular event ‘s proceeds went to the Italian Home’s services for troubled youth and at-​risk families (PS — not just for Italian kids). I know they’ve had past events’ proceeds go to Christopher’s Haven as well, but as I understand it, their focus charity changes from event to event. Pretty damn cool if you ask me.
I really dig their idea of combining social events with charity. I think that’s key in getting people of my «age bracket» exposed to non-​profits. Who knows, after going to a tasting and reading about a certain organization someone might consider volunteering. To me, that’s fantastic. And c’mon, you were thinking about getting drinks after work anyways, why not go to a wine or beer tasting when you know you’ll help out local charities? The event itself was very laid back. Munchies were provided and an 8 beer tasting. Not gonna lie, got a little tipsy. I also got to meet Unilocalers John R. (who greeted me very enthusiastically for our first IRL meeting — great guy!), Krystle P. (who I didn’t know was a Unilocaler until we started talking. She was super helpful and nice enough to give me and my guest a good overview of the organization.), and I may or may not have had a missed connection with Liz K. haha
Awesome experience. Two thumbs up from the Dish! :) I would not hesitate in going to another event.

what could be hotter and sexier than a random mix of young professionals getting down and dirty for children and other groups of people in need? oyfp is young, fun, and focused on making this cranky city a more compassionate place to live. and if you still need convincing, check out john and casey ;)

Admittedly, sometimes we need a fire under our asses to get up and do the things we want to do, be the people we want to be. OYFP is a match for all young profs that want to «do good» but are commitment ‘tarded fools and/​or don’t want to get deep in the trenches.
They host monthly events to benefit local charities by getting buzz going about these honorable endeavors. I recently attended a wine tasting event at an art gallery downtown and the crowd was smiling and supportive. Basically you pay a bit, get to drink and feel good about spending some scrilla knowing it’s going to the right place. Plus their volunteer staff is a dynamic, awesome and gorgeous bunch!
