After reading some of these reviews about the strict security and bouncers I am shocked, our friday night was such a mess here! We met some friends after hitting up a few places in Chinatown and only went to visit them. As a city kid it was overwhelmingly annoying to see the place jammed with a bunch of drunk college kids from the burbs. Everyone was so drunk people were crashing into people and stepping on feet, spiting on the ground. Its essentially every 19 – 25 year old dwarf size north shore imbecile thinking they are out on the town, quite a departure from a place like Bijou for example. My buddy and I joked that if one more lil irishman crashes into us we were going to fight them(joke) –however there was a huge fight that resulted in police coming in over the mess of crowds. The service was awful… bartender was in his own world and had selective hearing. Its just not my scene, and its not yours either unless you’re from the burbs, parents drive a minivan, don’t know where to go and are under 5’4…

Visiting Boston from New York. Decided to stop in for lunch after reading that they had an award winning clam chowder. My boyfriend & I had the clam chowder, crab & lobster cakes & the lobster pot pie. All of which were AMAZING! Service was great, our waitress was very sweet & attentive, food came out quickly. An all around good experience.

Aggressive, rude, and illogical bouncers, managers, and security. If any problem arises, they won’t have a rational conversation with you because they assume everyone is black out drunk, even if you’re completely sober. Be careful what you even say when you’re inside; watched a guy get pulled out by his collar for complaining among his group of friends about the enormous coat check line. Oh, and watch your step. If you stumble the slightest bit at any point, they assume you’ve been overserved and you’re out on the curb. Surprised they’re still in business as a bar/club with a security staff on such a power trip.

The bouncers are complete assholes and feel beyond entailed to who comes in and feels like they are more powerful than TSA at the airport. Never going here again and this place will not see my money ever.

Had a great lunch here. The grilled cheese and soup is what I had for lunch and I really liked it. We were seated right away on a Saturday and our server(Elizabeth) was great.

We ducked in for a quick beer to relax our feet after shopping. Had a couple appetizers. Good atmosphere, good service, good time.

Fun bar with cavernous second floor at Quincy market. Best app is the short rib taco. Suggest passing on the nachos. Pretzels standard bar fare. Would like to see more craft and IPA options on draft. If you choose to have dinner, go for something lobster based. The roll is fresh and flavorful.

We sat outside to have a pint and people watch after people were getting off work. The beer selection was meh, and the service was very very slow. We were sitting in the outside corner and even after we had all finished our beers the waitress did not come over. She didn’t seem too busy for a quick«another round?» She came to the general area we were sitting in at least 3 times without even glancing at our table. Nice enough view, but you get stuck with multiple types of music playing from random locations(including the pub) which is off-putting. Finally got our bill and got out. Ugh. I’d pass.

One of my favorite bars in Faneuil! The place has a very cool atmosphere and is huge. Its four bars in one, each with their own vibe. The back bar has live music Fridays and Saturdays with a wide range of genres and top throwbacks. The drinks are fairly priced: beer $ 5, mixed drinks $ 10. Even though the line might seem long on a Friday or Saturday, you’ll go through it fast(trust me, you’ll get in). Its a lot of fun! My only regret is that I found out about this place after I graduated college :/ p. s. girls get in free before 10pm on Fridays!

It’s just okay. It is, after all, in the middle of the very commercial Quincy Market. And I believe they should drop the Irish Pub in their name. Guinness on tap and some Magner’s does not an irish pub make. The server was sweet. The chowda was good. The pastrami sliders were mediocre. I won’t be running back and you shouldn’t either. There are lots of great places to eat in Boston — check them out

Their award winning New England(as God intended) Clam Chowder is absolutely delicious! Tried the Whale’s Tail Pale Ale as well! Great tasting pale ale! Wonderful way to get out of the rain in Quincy Market!

Is there a reason we paid a $ 10 cover to leave thirty minutes later due to some bogus alarm? It wouldn’t be a big issue if the staff wasn’t so incompetent in every way. I had one bouncer tell me I couldn’t wear a hat while four other hat-wearing bros bounced around him. Also, the bartenders were clearly not on top of their game. Overpriced bar, with shitty service, and a crowd made of mindless frat boys.

After being repeatedly cut off and jostled around the downtown and wings of shopping malls, we ducked into Ned Devine’s to get some peace and quiet. We were here on a weekend at lunchtime, and it was surprisingly slow and pleasantly average on noise level. We were immediately seated with a table with a view, and set to the menu. We both sampled some beverages, I chose the Not Your Father’s Root beer, an my husband opted for a hoppy local brew. We started with the Pretzel with Beer/Mustard Cheese, and I ordered a side of the curry sauce to try because I want all the sauces. This by far has been the best pretzel I have ever tasted. Buttery, toasty, chewy, and perfectly salty, this is what pretzels wish they could grow up to be. It will forever haunt my dreams, with its whole ground mustard and beer cheese dip, and crunchy salt sprinkled on top. This bliss was short lived, however, when we reached our main courses. At the encouragement of my husband, I tried the Lobster Grilled cheese, which sounded amazing, but had many horrible pieces of lobster shell within the meat, which made it so unappetizing. Also the avocado inside was overly ripe and metallic tasting, which is really gross. Darling Husband ordered the Fish and Chips, which was literally the size of an entire fish cut lengthwise, and didn’t come with vinegar. WHAT?! This is a pub serving fish and chips, how is it possible to not automatically come with pub vinegar or lemons or something?! Crazy. When we notified the waitress of the shell problem in the sandwich, she actually said«Are you sure it’s like, shell? And not sand?» As if this was going to be helpful in clarifying the crunchy non-edibles in my sandwich. How would sand in the ‘witch make it somehow better than shell making its way in. Beyond me. Besides the mind bogglingly delicious pretzel, this place is a no-go, with average food, below average service, and super high prices.

Here is a short little story of how I found myself at a little table with my boyfriend with a bowl of chowder between us: Me: [to boyfriend] What kind of food do you wanna try in Boston? Boyfriend: CHOWDAAAAA! Legit chowder. Me: Ok. [Google search: «best chowder in Boston”](cue Aziz Ansari’s bit about people these days needing to have *the best* of anything and everything) Link pops up: «Where to Get the Best New England Clam Chowder in Boston»( ) Me: Hey we can go to this one place that’s on the Freedom Trail. Done and done. We came at around 2 or 3 pm on a weekday — this area is packed with not just tourists but also groups of kids on field trips! Thank goodness Ned’s was not so chaotic. We eagerly waited for our bowl of award-winning chowder and it turned out to be everything we wanted and more. It was very smooth and creamy, with the perfect consistency(the article described it perfectly — «substantial without becoming heavy or gut-busting»). The clams were not overcooked, which is very important to me because I get very frustrated when it’s 15 minutes later and I’m still gnawing away at the same clam. All in all, very satisfied and happy with this chowder.

One of the only bars/clubs I’m totally ok with paying a cover charge on because entrance guarantees you a good time. The cover is $ 10, but the vodka tonics are only about $ 7, and beet is closer to $ 5. This place is huge! It’s basically 4 bars of you count the downstairs and every room has a different feel. There’s really something for everybody! You have the chill bar at the front, the more hoppin bar in the middle playing music from my frat party days, and the back room — the best room — has a live cover band. Every band I’ve seen is good! They have a coat check at the back room for $ 3. If you get there after 11 on a weekend, there will be a line to get into the club I’ve also been here for dinner before. It’s pretty nice and the sandwiches are good!

Apparently this place has two faces — restaurant and party bar/club. This review is for the restaurant aspect @ 2pm Saturday on the outdoor patio. **Wrote this review to advise out-of-towners with a zillion options that Ned Devine’s clam chowder is kickin!!** Beau & I were on the hunt for beer, chowder, and a lobster roll. There were a number of options but we went with Ned’s for the award-winning chowder and very reasonable prices, especially in such a touristy area. Chowder was very, very good; I highly recommend you order a cup. This was my first real lobster roll experience so I have no reference point but it was definitely tasty… I mean tons of lobster meat dressed in mayo, how could it be anything but? Wasn’t really a roll, more of a sandwich, which might upset some folks looking for the traditional preparation but the bread was buttery and delicious so we were happy. Last but not least, service was impeccable — thank you Katelyn! Of all the places to eat over by the marketplace, I’m satisfied we made the right choice.

Four stars because we stopped by «Dicks last resort» first. All the food was good and cooked as we ordered. Drinks were strong and the staff was friendly and checked on us often. A solid three stars but having gone from a gigantic s-hole to this place made me give four stars. Good food, strong drink. Overall, a nice place that I will try again.

Do yourself a favor and stick with ordering beer here — the mixed drinks are SOWEAK!!! The place is huge and filled with fratty college kids. Granted, I used to love it when that was more my scene. The cover bands are usually pretty good, and there’s a huge dance floor(filled with some creepy people, just fyi). Get here early because there’s usually a line. The $ 10 cover is annoying. It’s okay, you just have to be in the mood.

It was our first night in Boston. We were starving from traveling all day and this place was what we decided on amongst the many restaurants at Faneuil Hall Marketplace. It seemed to have a good variety of menu items and wasn’t overly expensive but not super cheap at the same time. When you walk in, you see a bar to your left. We were standing there a few minutes and then realized we had to walk upstairs to the hostess stand to be seated. The restaurant dining room is pretty spacious on the 2nd floor. There were a handful of diners spread out but definitely not packed since it was a Wed night. Our server was very friendly and took our drink orders. I have to remember that sweet tea isn’t the norm in the Northeast. She ended up bringing sugar packets if I wanted to sweeten my tea. We started off with the warm pretzel appetizer which came with a hot cheddar cheese and ale dipping sauce. There were 6 huge pieces of pretzel which was more than enough to share and super yummy. I really should’ve paced myself because by the time my roasted haddock entrée came out, I was pretty full. The roasted haddock is topped with sautéed spinach, panko crumbs and a lemon wine sauce. On the side are generous helpings of market vegetables and mashed potatoes. The dish is very rich and in hindsight, I would have asked if they could leave the lemon wine sauce off. All of it together made the fish taste so heavy which didn’t agree with my stomach. My husband ordered the fish and chips. He did mention that the breading was a little heavy halfway through his dish. The atmosphere can be fun for a big group. There are also several televisions throughout the dining area to watch the big game on tv. Our server was attentive and very pleasant. I enjoyed the pretzels but would probably pace myself if I visited again.

Their New England Clam Chowder won the 2013 best of Boston but I wasn’t impressed. $ 8 for a pretty generous portion, but it’s mostly just the soup base. There’s chunks of clams and potatoes, but I’d say 75% of the bowl is just liquid. If you want really good clam chowder at Faneuil Hall, go to Boston Chowda Co.
