I went there a few years ago to get a wheel bearing done on my car. I dropped it off, to wait for their diagnosis.
They called me up and quoted me $ 250, which is about $ 150 TOO MUCH for this car. So fine, you can charge too much, I won’t get my car serviced there.
When I came back to pick up my car, it was outside, so I get my keys back and go to leave. Now there was a MAJOR wobble going down the road. Turns out they didn’t tighten a single lugnut on that wheel. Not a one.

So, I went to the dealership for a routine ($ 600) 40,000 mile check-​up, they told me, your going to need new front brake pads soon, in about 2000 miles. Rather than paying dealership prices, I said thank you very much, and went on my way. 1000 miles passes, and i decided to go to Midas and finally get some new pads, you know, the «lifetime» ones that they offer for $ 89.99. Well, how they do things is, you give them $ 20, they tell you what needs to be done, and if you choose to have it done, they refund your $ 20. So they guy calls me about an hour later, «sir, you need allot more work than just front pads» I’m assuming, yeah, it’s always good to resurface your rotors for a few bucks extra. HA he tells me I need new rotors, new pads, and new rear shoes, all for the tune of $ 550. I told him what the dealership had said, and then told him to screw himself (remember, I’m now $ 20 poorer). So I drove right from Midas to my dealership (down the street) and told them this story. They inspected my car for FREE told me that my rear brakes were absolutely fine, and that all I needed was to resurface the front rotors, and get new pads, a service which places like Monroe routinely do for around $ 130. To make it even better, the dealership vacuumed my entire interior, and put my car through a car wash (still free!) My bottom line, don’t trust Midas, and always buy from Herb Chambers!
