MBTA – Downtown Crossing

Just saw this review:
«I know Downtown Crossing is in the heart of the city, but man is it dirty… It smells bad, water is always leaking from somewhere, and the orange line is constantly 8 – 10 min away. At night there are a lot of drunk people, and you don’t see security doing anything about it. It’s in the center of the city, but I hope one day it’s cleaner here.»
This area was called the combat zone 20 years ago. It has gotten wayyyyyy better since then. At least people are only drunk and not on heavy amounts of crack cocaine. They clearly have made it better.

Center stage of t lines. Close to downtown and Boston common also easy ride to anywhere else. Lots of restaurants close by.

This is the nexus of the red, orange & somewhat the green line on the MBTA’s vast transit system. There is a network of underground tunnels that keep commuters away from the elements & there are few shops that line the walls. Plus there is access to some of the larger businesses in the Downtown Crossing area. Since the area has been going through a vast renovation the station has suffered. The passage to Oak Grove has a large piece of equipment blocking a majority of the path. There tends to be puddle left every where when the weather does get bad. The station is showing its age & the platforms tend to be narrow especially during rush hour. One of the saving graces here tends to be the talented musicians that fill the air with music. There should be more desginated areas where they can play & showcase their talents. It makes a cramp area down right dangerous. We all know the MBTA is strapped for cash but its well used vital stations like this that need a modern renovation to keep it moving forward.
