I saw Dr. Dy recently (at her Cambridge location) to have a few things on my skin checked out. She was very sweet and personable… and seemed knowledgeable about skin stuff. She examined me thoroughly, but rather quickly, making me wonder if she was «really seeing» what I was seeing on my skin. My only suggestion is that she slows down a little (to put hypochondriacs like myself at ease!)…

I’m writing this to counter some of the negative reviews I read before seeing Dr Dy in Cambridge for the first time. My previous dermatologist, although «famous» in the area, was curt, abrupt and dismissive to me on my last visit. He inspired no confidence, I felt that as a long term patient I deserved better., I asked my primary for a new referral. Of course after reading some of these flaming reviews, I was apprehensive.
I found Dr. Katrina Dy to be extremely thoughtful, patient, and thorough.Dr. Dy listened to my concerns and took the time to respond one by one. She did not perform any unnecessary procedures, or give me unnecessary medications. Dr. Dy seemed to understand my history and made me feel confident in her findings. I did not feel rushed at all. Most of all, she gave me advice on how to avoid further skin problems, which went beyond the standard «do this, and don’t do this» I could get on the internet. Also, her office staff were very easy to deal with
So, while I hope I don’t have to see her again soon, I would not hesitate to go back to Dr. Katrina Dy if I need to or to recommend her to others.

Went to see this doctor at her new practice — a bit hesitantly after reading the reviews here, but I needed to make an appointment for my mom as soon as possible, and she had an opening the soonest. I went with my mom, and Dr. Dy turned out to be wonderful — nice, knowledgable, explained everything really well to us. I am definitely planning to come back to her if my mom has an issue again.

Please keep searching for a dermatologist. She’s lucky I don’t believe in suing people.
I went in for a mole check and one «looked suspicious». I was booked for a punch biopsy. The day Dr. Dy took out my mole, which turned out to be noncancerous, she did not numb the area enough. I felt the punch go into my back and my right muscle twist from the pain. She stitched me up and sent me on my way. The surgery took less than 5 minutes.
Two weeks later, I felt something poking out of the incision. It was one of the «dissolvable» stitches. I called Dr. Dy’s office and one of her nurses told me to «cut it out myself». Really? It took my husband two days to finally pull it up enough to cut the knot. I thought the worst was over. A week later, the other «dissolvable» stitch worked its way to the surface. This time fearing infection I went to a walk-​in clinic to have it removed. The walk-​in clinic doctor was surprised at the choice of stitches — chromium catgut — because this is an old technology.
My back has never been the same since the twist that it made the day of the surgery and the pain caused from using the wrong stitches. I went to physical therapy for a couple months, though my back — the whole right side, not just the spot where the punch was done — still hurts sometimes.
Every month, I still receive the $ 20 bill that I never paid. I will see Dr. Dy in court before paying it.

Lazy doctor who hates her job. Stay away from this one. Consider her only if you need urgent care and cannot book with anybody else — she is always free.
