In 1985, Salwa and Juann, a mother and daughter team, established a store in the South End to restore antique wedding gowns and veils that were passed down from mother to daughter. With their team of designers and seamstresses they began recreating, transforming, and customizing wedding gowns for the modern bride. In 1990, they moved to Newbury Street, Boston’s famous fashion district nestled in the heart of historical Back Bay. They soon realized that Newbury Street was in need for Haute Couture Wedding and Evening Gowns. They began to import European Bridal and Evening gowns for designers such as Herve, Mariee de France, and Domo Adami.

In 1995, L’elite expanded and evolved adding to the Bridal and Occasions Collections, red carpet designers such as Marchesa, Oscar de la Renta, Monique Lhuillier, Carolina Herrera, Pamella Roland, Georges Hobeika and Georges Chakra. L’elite offers the modern bride tradition and Haute Couture as women travel from around the world to experience these unique collections of both European and American Designers. L’elite is dedicated to offering couture designers and an incomparable sense of beauty to the latest fashion for Boston and New England.

L’elite has been voted for Boston Magazine Boston’s Best Award, The Knot Magazine Best Bridal Boutique, Improper Bostonian Best of Boston Award and US Commerce Association Best of Boston national Award.

Salwa and Juann mother-​daughter team whom started L’elite and its boutiques have a passion for fashion! Their distinct sense of style is refined, abundant, and luxurious as it blends modernity and romanticism in couture-​handmade garments. Both women offer backgrounds in related fields of design – Juann as an architect and Salwa, as a designer for children’s clothing. When they first began, Salwa and Juann wanted to bring innovative ideas to the world of bridal and ready to wear fashion in Boston. The collection began with simple, modern, and sophisticated gowns from France and Italy. Today, the collection features over thirty of the most talented national and internationally recognized designers for both bridal and special occasion gowns. Each designer gown is different and unique from the main stream market. The collections are carefully chosen to reflect today’s modern, radiant woman.
