Lambert’s Marketplace

Used to be a huge fan until new management.

I stopped in here to get a sandwich before taking in Boston. I got the «South Street Sandwich» which was really tasty. If you are looking for a nice deli in Boston, definitely check out Lambert’s.

their selection of soups and sandwiches are a classic. a little deli in the heart of the city.

I have gone to this place a few times for lunch. Most of the time, I have gotten a salad or a sandwich from the deli. The fruits that they sell here are very fresh… and so is the salad.
The sandwiches and baked goods from the deli is decent. It is not too bad, but I think there are other paces where you can get sandwiches and baked goods for cheaper.
Lambert has a few places in which you can sit (including tables and counters). But during crowded lunch time, it is hard to find a place at a table since they only have about three. If you are by yourself, then no problem finding a counter spot.
Overall, I would come back to this place if a friend wanted to go here. And I would recommend you try a sandwich if you haven’t been here before. But I would probably not come back here too often since I know there are other places where I can get sandwiches/​wraps for cheaper.

This place came in handy the other day when I had plenty of sandwich meat but sadly, no cheese, lettuce, or tomato for a good sandwich. It’s nice that I can run down the street to grab some quality Boars’ Head cheese for my sammie instead of those packaged cheeses at the other convenience stores.
The store itself is just missing something. It doesn’t have the same charm as their other location by the Commons. It could possibly be something as simple as the lighting, but their fresh fruits don’t even look very appetizing!

YES. i am a fan of anywhere downtown that offers fresh fruit and vegetables for a mid-​day snack as opposed to the regular, run-​of-​the-​mill ten dollar fatty thigh options, i.e. starbucks pastries, burger king trans fat train wrecks, beef jerky or mediocre wraps from store 24, on and on…

So freaking good was the number one sandwich. Can’t remember what it is called, something cute I’m sure. All I know is that it had cranberry sauce in it. I leave the stuffing out. I’ll be back very soon. Their desserts are brought in from Southie (I forget which bakery) they look AMAZING, although I have yet to have anything. I’ll be back soon.

I think I set my expectations a little too high for Lambert’s. A new convenience store a block away from home? Boar’s Head deli meat? Fresh fruit? Coffee? I was pretty much lingering out front for weeks before Lambert’s opened, staring at the sign that said «Opening April 2009,» and wondering if that meant April 1^st, April 15^th or what. Now that it’s here, it’s…well, it’s fine. There is nothing out of the ordinary fantastic about it, but it serves all the needs I wanted it to. Nothing more, nothing less. The hours could be a little better, but they are still getting adjusted and who knows, maybe one day they will be open later.
Two perks: I love that they sell flowers. I’m always running out to a birthday party, house warming party, what have you, and if I don’t have the extra 10 minutes to walk to a liquor store for a bottle of wine, it’s nice to know I can grab a pretty bouquet of flowers out of the bucket out front at Lambert’s. They’ll even wrap it up nice and neat for you.
Second perk: The staff is all about your dog (probably more than you, the paying customer). Lulu makes a beeline for Lambert’s as soon as we turn onto Tremont so she can get her daily slice of roast beef. Who knew the local convenience store would be yet another place where I could spoil my puppy? Welcome to the neighborhood, Lambert’s! Looks like you’ll fit in just fine.

stopped in today to check out lambert’s after going to the south end library (directly across the street). prices were surprisingly not bad at all for a decent selection of produce (strawberries for $ 1.99 a container, peppers for $.99 a pound.). i’ll definitely put this place on my «forgot to get something and need to stop at a bodega» rotation.

This Lambert’s replaced my childhood bodega, Morales, which was closed a year ago when the building was purchased by developers seeking to convert the block into yuppie condos.
Thankfully, instead of becoming yet-​another-​salon-​or-​boutique, Lambert’s moved in providing the South End with a much-​needed grocer. The store carries your typical convenience store inventory as well as a small array of fruits and vegetables, a full-​service deli, and baked goods.
The business is still transitioning into the space so there’s a lot of empty areas and a lot of gaps in inventory. The owner, however, seems very receptive to suggestions and sees the need for the store to adapt to the needs of the neighborhood. The interior needs more work to feel inviting as it’s a bit on the stark side compared to the other Lambert’s in Boston.
Prices seem rounded up, but less expensive for what one might expect for the South End. (Read: Expensive, but not unreasonably so given the convenience). For that purpose it fits a really important niche along with the newly opened Five Seventy Market that replaced the Bostonian Market. Soon us South Enders may once more be able to get the bare necessities of survival in our own neighborhood!
I can’t imagine anyone being able to do all their shopping here, but it’s a great place to pick up a few things you might have forgotten or to grab a tasty deli Boar’s Head sandwich.

We at Pure Hair Design are SOOOO happy to have this addition in the neighborhood, and so close. Not that I don’t love my UpperCrust, but I do like a fresh sandwich from time to time. I can see myself becoming a regular here. FRESH bread, Fresh tasting sandwiches, fresh vegtables and fruits and snacks.
