Decent sandwich. Nothing outstanding. Staff not very inviting. First deli worker could not speak enough English to take my order second got it right.

I got the #17 and. it. was. Amazing. It is packaged at the lunch hour, they go you through the line fairly fast so it was a little disorienting to not be certain what I needed or how it worked when I got there, but the sandwich was excellent. Extremely fresh. Not lots of seats but if you are fortunate you can catch a table and do some people watching as you eat.

Lambert’s is the fruit stand on the corner of the Filene’s building. This area is amazing and I go here everyweek to get fruit and veggies. It’s dirt cheap, particularly at the close of the day. Their stuff is largely quality although you might want to pick through it a bit. Make friends with the fruit men and they’ll constantly show you the top material. I simply got a pineapple, 3 apricots, 3 kiwis, a bag of carrots, 2 cartons of rasberries for like $ 7!

Decent marketplace right across the street from Boston Common. They have a fresh deli where you can get your sandwich fresh made to order and cheese options galore, as well as a little seating area right in the front of window of the restaurant so you can look out into the streets. Additionally, there is small market inside the store as well for a few pickup items and drinks as well. There is a salad bar running through the marketplace and it has poor selections and the items in the trays are just exposed to the air and people walking in and out the store constantly. Just avoid the salad bar!

Wow– really good place, lots of meat in the sandwiches and good flavor. Got the Kingston Street(a Rubin) on marble rye and wow– really good. The guy asked if I wanted it toasted and I said yeah, great! And good value with the price of food rising so much these days.

I stopped in on my way home from work to get some sandwiches. They have a lot of sandwiches to choose from, so instead of reading through them all I asked if they had one that was like an Italian sub and he recommended the #8. The description sounded right so I ordered two. While he was wrapping them up I noticed that there were roasted peppers on them. I asked if peppers were supposed to be there and he said yes. I made sure he was talking about the #8 and he said yes again so I pointed out that roasted peppers were not mentioned in the description and he said ‘oh, really’, and just finished wrapping up the sandwich. Maybe I should have pushed the issue but I just took the sandwiches and went to the register to pay. It took the guy about 15 seconds to realize I was standing there because he was watching something on his phone with his headphones in. I paid $ 17.10 for the two sandwiches. When I got home my fears were realized. He had given me the wrong sandwiches. That was disappointment one. Disappointment two was that there was barely any meat in the sandwich. They use Boar’s Head cold cuts but since you can’t taste them it doesn’t matter. It was like eating a vegetable sandwich. I expect more for a sandwich I paid over $ 8.00 for. I will not be going back.(This place is NOT to be confused with Lambert’s Rainbow Fruit in the Puritan Mall on Morrissey Boulevard. There you can get an awesome sandwich.)

love, love, love. my boyfriend and i have been here on a few occasions, most recently to gear up for winter classic tailgating. this is definitely one of those places that caters to regulars, rather than first-timers. the deli has tons of signage for typical deli purchases(meat & cheese by the pound), but not so much for sandwiches. for instance, when my boyfriend asked if they offered an «italian»(a pretty classic sub), the kid behind the counter said yes, and instructed us to choose a roll from the display directly in front of us. hey– i’m not knocking the procedure, i’m just saying, we both felt a little silly because we didn’t understand how things were supposed to play out. so, the workflow is a little intimidating, but– staff was also very friendly and accommodating when we had questions. all of that said– our italian subs were completely delicious, and the hot peppers on mine absolutely made it for me. i love soup, and they have up to 15(15!) offerings daily. i didn’t get any that day, but will in the future. they also had some calzones ready-made, which i will also get on another occasion. the service is friendly, if a bit sparse(hey– they’re busy!), and the food is delicious. i’m excited for when we have an opportunity to go back and try their other offerings.

I’m so excited to have found this place! I’ve been going to UDG in the Downtown Crossing area for my salads, but decided to try Lambert’s for a change(gotta spice things up in my 9 – 5 routine life). The salad bar is plentiful. They don’t chop your salad like they do at UDG, but you can(attempt to) do it on your own with the plastic utensils and make a game out of it. You will fail, but it’ll be hilarious and make for an entertaining lunch hour. Trust me. The salad bar is $ 5.99/lb. and you can add on avocado and/or various proteins(chicken, eggs, etc.) all at the $ 5.99/lb. cost. Most places will charge $ 2.00+ for these items so I appreciate them keeping it at the same cost(woo…equality!). This place can get pretty busy during lunch. It seemed like their sandwich line was pretty long(note to self: try sandwich next time), which must mean they are pretty good. I’ll definitely be back!

I came in to get lunch and decided to check out the salad bar. It was pretty cheap, $ 5.99/lb. The salad was delicious but I am deducting one star because there wasn’t a huge amount of toppings to choose from. I will definitely be returning.

Does not look like a nice place from the outside — but get in! We had nice lunch salads from the salad bar or the freshly prepared falafels. Really good and price wise fully okay(had quite big salads plus beverage = USD7 – 8.

Been coming here since 2010⁄2011. Great place to get lunch, especially the salad bar. Not too pricey, and still decent quality food. The pizza and mini fried chicken wings are good too. While there’s not a ton of seating, it’s usually enough so that when I’m on my lunch break I can come in and expect to find a seat pretty easily. Staff are nice enough, and the convenient location make it an obvious go-to for a quick bite. Have been, still am, and will be coming back to Lambert’s.

Went in for breakfast this morning, buffet was empty. I stop in because it fast and easy to grab food, but if nothing is out, why should I?

Lambert’s sells everything from pickles, to laundry detergent, to candy, to incredible Boar’s Head sandwiches. They have a salad/hot bar too which can play to your advantage sometimes. You can make whatever you want here with the deli guys, but they also have a great selection of special sandwiches to explore. Their buffalo chicken is cold cut style, so just keep that in mind. Great wrap, roll, sub selections that really let you make your sandwich yours.

Always reliable for a bite, small or big. Whether you want a sandwich, hot meal, or soup. The flavors are all there. Also wonderful fruits, vegetables and desserts. Can not leave the parking lot without tasting what I bought. Lamberts Main st and 28. Hyannis

I hate to break it to NYC, but places like this exist in most major American cities, and some of them, like Lambert’s, are pretty damn good. Part convenience store, part deli, part hot bar. You might get away with calling it a bodega, but it’s larger, cleaner, and has more to offer than your average corner store. I got one of their specialty sandwiches, an alternate approach to a typical pastrami, and it did not disappoint — that’s high praise coming from a snob like me. Using Boar’s Head is almost cheating, but good paint doesn’t necessarily make a good painter, so credit where credit is due.

Ok I have to say the place has turned itself around and the convenience factor also plays a part in its«allure». I would recommend this place as a quick lunch spot. If you’re by yourself or with non fussy(!!) you’re-not-trying-to-impress people, I would stop in if you’re by downtown looking for a sandwich or salad to keep your energy levels up to dodge the many of seriously sketchy-sketchy characters in this area. They seem to get sketchier by the day! Just keep your expectations low and you’ll do just fine. I’m a sucker for a salad bar. I don’t know why, I feel like it’s just in my blood and my mind wanders mid day to the type of creation I could whip up. Maybe This signals control issues. Try not to digress. OK so the salad bar isn’t mind blowing or award winning by any means but it is decent. I don’t really know about the meat quality they put out there(I doubt it’s all natural or anything you’d normally buy for yourself) so I tend to not pile that on but they do offer sliced avocado, boiled eggs, feta cheeses, spring muslin mix(sounds like my go-to right there) and the price per pound is very reasonable compared to the other city salad bars. The lines to get sandwiches/subs are always long around lunch time so I have to imagine they do a good job or there are a lot of people that value the convenient location and put up with the rest. They do offer Boars Head meat which is delicious. The whole fruit selection is always hit or miss which is surprising as the market’s reputation rests on its fresh market selection. Some days I pick up fresh crisp apples other days I pick up a mealy apple among the bruised selection. You’d do better to pick up your fruit at Whole Foods or Shaws or a sidewalk fruit stand. They are more consciousness of the fresh factor in this regard. One last thing to note is their snack selection has improved. They carry a variety of chips and nutrition bars. Many of their chips and such are in the single serving sized options which is nice as I always find it annoying when you’re forced to buy a family sized anything when all you really wanted was one. A good variety of juices, sodas, and beverages to satisfy your thirst needs. So all in all it’s Ok if your comparing it to the selection of places around it. If you are coming from NYC and are expecting a real deli or you are a true foodie, then don’t bother as you’ll be disappointed despite the improvements.

I stopped by here last weekend because my friends and I were getting hungry and Lambert’s was convenient. What a great find! One friend had a sandwich and said was great, and the other enjoyed her pizza. I had food from the hot bar, spaghetti, meatballs, and chicken wings. Hey, I was hungry, okay? ;-) Anyway, I kept on thinking about those wings and ended up coming back for more today!

Lambert’s is one of my favorite lunch spots. They serve fresh Boar’s Head meat… yum. and they have a salad bar, little baked goods section, fresh produce, chips, I even saw some pancake mix in there today. It is essentially a little all around store. The sandwich’s are my favorite. I love Boar’s head ham. You can also get just meat or cheese here too, by the pound, like you would at a grocery store Deli. They also have soups and hot specials, today they had a calzone. The people at the counter are really nice, I never feel dumb for not knowing exactly what I want, or wanting to add/remove things to a sandwich. The prices are pretty reasonable considering the high prices of lunch in downtown Boston. I like to get egg salad, which is only 5.50ish. If you get a regular sub with meat, etc. it is 8 dollars, but you get a TON of food(and meat) on it. I like coming here because I feel my money is well spent and I get a good amount for what I am paying, opposed to other places by my job. *You can take your sandwich to the Commons across the street and eat in the grass too =)

Ten reasons to go to Lambert’s for lunch. 1. Fresh Boar’s Head products. 2. Fresh produce in the salad bar. 3. Hot Tamales by the pound. 4. Fast service even though the line is long. 5. So many sandwich choices your head will spin. 6. Combo meal options that include soup, chips or side salads. 7.(Mostly) friendly service… even if you can’t understand each other. 8. You want to grab some sliced deli meat and cheese? OK, go for it! 9. Seats against the back window if you want to eat in. 10. Hot Tamales by the pound. I know I said it before. It’s important.
