Johnson Paint is an amazing paint supply store! They have everything you could need, and their staff is super friendly and helpful. If you live in the area, make sure to check them out the next time you need paint!

I own a painting company (reynoldsservices@aol), and have been going to Johnson Paint for over 20 years. They are by far the best paint store I’ve ever been to, hands Down.
Most of the other establishments that sell paint are hardware stores. Nothing against the staff at hardware stores, but most of them have no clue what they’re talking about when it comes to the paint they sell.
Johnson Paint sells only paint, so you can be assured that the staff knows they’re stuff. Theyre well trained, and extremely experienced. And unlike other paint stores in town they do know what theyre talking about when it comes to paint. A very friendly staff to… And Thats a big perk coming from Boston!
And the prices, especially Benjamin Moore paint, are the lowest I’ve been able to find in the area. You might think because they’re located on Newbury st. that they would be higher than other stores, not true.
Johnson Paint, and the crew that work there, will always be where I go to buy my paint. Even if I find a paint retailer closer to where I’m working, I still drive the extra distance

I wish I could give them an extra star! I went to 3 or 4 different Benjamin Moore suppliers and Johnson Paint out-​shined them in every way. The customer service was awesome, they even have a ‘color expert,’. The staff helped me process the paint colors I had selected and gave me some great advice about not using one of the colors. They were patient when I took my time and stared endlessly at the paint cards. They brought the paint and supplies out to my car! Beat of all, the price. They had the lowest prices, hands-​down. I will definitely go back to Johnson Paint for my next project.

The Johnson Paint staff has skills. They know their paint and are unbelievable at matching colors. I heard that they could match colors to almost anything so I brought in an eggplant hoping they could match the shade (I wanted it for my office) They matched it perfect and didn’t make me feel ridiculous for my request.

Normally I’ll always shop at a Mom & Pop type place, but this was a very disappointing experience. Prices were inflated and the stock of artist supplies (upstairs) was low low low. I went in specifically for Golden brand paints/​mediums and was sorely disappointed when there was no white! No white??? Are you kidding?

I used to love coming here in my art school days. Nice selection, great location (as a student I always felt extra chic when Id come to Newbury St to buy my art supplies) BUT when Id pay the bill it was another story. Thats when reality hit and I would stroll over to Utrechts.

Lots of pretty pens, pencils, and paper upstairs for the budding young artist. Prices are fair considering it’s on Newbury Street. Continue on down to Mass Ave and Huntington St. to Utrecht for cheaper. These guys have more selection and it’s laid out nicer. I like checking out the bulletin board.

Great great store for painters, artists, wanna-​be artists etc. They have a nice selection of paints and lots of artist stuff– brushes, stencils, etc. Nice to have this type of store on Newbury Street!

Paint staff is knowledgeable… not particularly customer-​friendly, but they do know their stuff. They’re also pretty quick to speed you out. One stop shopping, they’ve got all your paint supplies.

I know nothing about paint. All I know is it goes on the wall, so when the landlord told me to get a certain brand of paint in a certain color, I headed to Johnson Paint Company. They’re in a surprising Newbury location, which can make getting paint loaded into the car a pain. However, their staff is very helpful. The guy who mixed our paint even rolled it out to the car for us after the place had already closed.
