Description

Specialties

iDo Wedding Workshops can teach you how to plan your own wedding just as well (if not better) than a professional! Why spend upwards of $ 5000 to hire a wedding planner when you can do it yourself? iDo Wedding Workshops are strictly formatted for learning. There are no sales pitches or vendors to deal with like at wedding shows. All of our workshops are taught by an experienced wedding planner who will give you all of the necessary tools, tips, and tricks of the trade that you need to plan the wedding of your dreams!

History

Established in 2011.

iDo Wedding Workshops was created out of a need that I discovered when I began teaching and subsequently stopped planning professionally. At that point, I began planning most of my friends and family’s weddings as a gift to them. As I was doing this, I realized that many of them wanted to plan their own weddings without hiring a wedding planner, but still had no idea where to start. They wanted to know the ins and outs of the industry, how to save money (without looking like they saved money), how to create and manage their own budget, how to deal with stress-causing family situations, and how to successfully pull off the latest trends. As I planned several of these beautiful and seamless weddings, the requests for «wedding planning coaching» came pouring in. It became obvious to me that this was a much-needed service that was just not being offered, so began the journey of creating iDo Wedding Workshops!

Meet the Business Owner

Melissa V.

Business Owner

Weddings are my passion At the age of 21, I received my bachelor’s degree in Travel and Tourism Management and completed my first internship as an Assistant Wedding Planner at Cal Neva Resort in Lake Tahoe California, which is where I first caught the wedding planning bug! Upon completing my internship and working in the hospitality industry for a couple of years, I returned to school to get a master’s degree in Hospitality with a concentration in Special Event Management. After graduating, I moved to Charlotte, North Carolina where I planned weddings for the prestigious Ballantyne Resort for several years. After leaving Ballantyne, I went back to school and received my Ph.D. in Hospitality, with an emphasis in tourism and special events, thus allowing me to combine the two things I love the most — teaching and wedding planning. Today, I am a full time professor and Program Director at Lasell College in Newton, Massachusetts in the Hospitality and Event Management program.
