Howard Yezerski Gallery

Admittedly, I’m not much of the artsy type or into chatting endlessly about how art can create meaning or inspire change. But, I have a keen eye, discriminating taste and mucho respect for those who do wonderful things with different mediums.
I appreciate when artists or in this instance, gallery owners, attempt to make art accessible to everyone. Howard from the Howard Yezerski Gallery does just this. He recently opened his doors, quite literally, to host a charity wine tasting event. The gallery is lovely– clean and crisp. Howard and the gallery staff were friendly, helpful and accommodating. The pieces on display were interesting and worthy of more than a just passing glance.
In the famous words of LeVar Burton: «Of course, you don’t have to take my word for it.» So, go check it out!

The art here is pretty cool. Yeah, that’s the technical term for it. I saw the most recent exhibit, «unnatural,» which was featured in the Globe on August 2. The artist in the main space made origami flowers and took photos of them — that makes it sound silly, but it’s really quite interesting and beautiful.
The space itself is quite nice. It is on the small side, with hardwood floors. The entrance is a little hard to find — it’s right near the Juicy Couture store on Newbury.
In the interests of full disclosure. this gallery very kindly agreed to host our On Your Feet Project wine tasting. Howard and his assistant were gracious and accommodating, and I believe they may have even made a sale or two. If you’re in the market for some art, I definitely recommend visiting the gallery and at least talking to them about the local art scene. They seem to be quite knowledgeable.
