I’m never coming back here. I have been getting my car serviced here for almost 5 years and somehow thought that I was a loyal customer. I was very wrong.
I lost my keys in the Vineyard over memorial day weekend. I only had one key, and when it goes… its a major problem because Saab cannot simply ‘recut’ you a key, they need to re-​program the main computer in your car. I had my car towed from Woods Hole all the way to Herb Chambers Saab because I really loved going there and trusted them.
They were not able to re-​program my computer on their own and sent my SIM module to a company in Utah (spoke with them on the phone, seemed to know what they are doing). For $ 700, the company will give you two keys. Oddly enough, Herb Chamber Saab went the cheap route, and send them $ 600 which only gave me one key. I was promised two, got one, and am now in need of getting another back-​up key in case I lose this one. Thanks, Herb Chambers, I really appreciate it.
Although Saab paid this company $ 600, I was charged $ 1184. Why you ask? Great question. Now I understand that someone needed to pop out the SIM module and mail it, and they need to be compensated for their time. However, I did not see any ‘postage’ charge, and my bill looks as if Saab reprogrammed the module themselves. They did not, and told me as much. I even called the company in Utah (
).
More bill padding:
They found my battery dead and charged me $ 200 for a new one. No one called and asked if I wanted a new battery. AAA would have come and put one in for $ 50.
Also, my side blinker was gone after someone hit my car. They replaced the plastic outer guy and put in the wrong color light bulb for $ 150. Yes, the blinker isn’t even yellow. I could have done this myself at Auto zone for $ 10.
I sent an email regarding the charges and the bs bill padding almost two months ago. I never heard back from her or anyone else in the service department.
I’m not sure whats going on here, but one thing is clear: this place is padding bills like crazy. I don’t know if their revenues are down or what the problem is, but I don’t care… I now drive to the dealer in Norwood and avoid this place like the plague. Due to this experience, I won’t even buy my next car here and have stopped referring people to this dealership.

I recently bought a car at Herb Chambers Saab. The salespeople were excellent, and I felt like I got good good deal.

This review only applies to the Service Department– I have never bought a car here.
Both the services performed on our 2007 Saab and the customer service provided by Tanisha have been great! Tanisha is always very friendly, helpful, and calls you back when she says she will. My wife brought our car in today for 45k mile service. They were out of «loaner» cars, but Tanisha just called Enterprise and got us a free rental car for the afternoon.
We have been very happy with the health of our car after servicing and plan on continuing to go back to Herb Chambers. They haven’t had to do any major work on our car, so 4 stars for Herb Chambers and 5 for Tanisha.

I’ve been working with these guys for two years, even thought I bought my Saab at another dealership, because they’re more conveniently located. They are really outstanding. I brought in my car for a couple of little nitpicky things (broken seat latch, lock wiring problem) and they not only fixed those but found a couple other things and fixed them, all under warranty. Even the hood ornament, which was all scratched, got replaced, though I never would have noticed or asked for that. And they wash and shine and wheels and vacuum it out every time. They are proactive and thorough and seem to really care that you leave the place happy, which I did :)

I echo the sentiments of the fellow that said going to this dealership is like going to a used car lot. Strangely enough at Herb Chambers Brighton, you DONT get what you paid for. This place has gone drastically down hill — and I would know from having both leased and purchased three different vehicles here over a decade. What was one a formidable dealer is now a mere pale shadow of itself. Service is not what it used to be. They used to vaccuum your car when you dropped it off for service, but no longer. However, that is a small grievance when compared to some of the current sales force. One guy in particular, Alex, is a hard seller and unwilling to provide anything but the advertised discount, so if you can, ask for someone else. He promised us certain features in the car that were ultimately not delivered like blue tooth, and voice regonition for directions. He also said he would look after the lease we turned in and even have the car waxed/​polished, only to later find out we were docked 900 worth of spurious damage charges when the car we dropped off was in immaculate condition. I sent the pictures in to Saab Financial to dispute the charges, but ofcourse they were promptly trashed and ignored. It is shameless robbery, and we are going to contact the better business bureau. Word of caution, when you drop off your lease, please take close time stamped pictures of everything. Frequently, these cars go to sale at lot, and get dinged or scratched up since these people only care about getting it off their hands to the highest bidder. If you ever do have to talk to Saab Financial, avoid Dawn Boettiger at all costs. In our experience, she is rude and has made it clear that she loathes her job and has no desire to help the customer. Sadly, she like a number of employees, seem to have been in their job for quite some time and simply lost motivation. We tried to speak to someone else, but strangely enough her name appeared again on the claim rejection letter. I would adivse SFSC to look into her records, since if she rejected our claim in the unarguable beautiful condition that it was, I doubt they have ever reconsidered a charge for anyone. I for one can say that Saab has lost our business, which is sad since we love the vehicles themselves and could have been customers for life. When will businesses put their customers first? If you’re in it to lease, perhaps look at Honda or Toyota. I heard that they have great programs and cover up to $ 2500 in wear and tear should anything appear present upon turn in.

I never thought I would ever Unilocal a car dealer — but here I am – singing the praises of the Herb Chambers Saab Repair Service Department. Why, you ask?
— They fixed the problem that I reported — a clunking noise in the front end. It was an expensive repair that was luckily covered by warranty and there were no questions asked.
— They fixed several problems I didn’t even know about.
— They fixed several problems that I thought were too minor too mention.
— They were good about communicating what my car needed and how long it was going to take.
— I asked for a ride to work and got a loaner car.
— They washed and vacuumed my car — a nice touch!
It’s nice (and rare) to walk out of a car dealer’s repair department feeling extremely satisfied!

When I lived in Boston I went to these guys for the sheer convenience of it. They were right down the street, I could drop off my car for service, and hop right on the T and head to my next stop.
As far as service goes, they were pretty good. They explained the needed service to me and gave me time to think the repairs over. My car is a ’94, so it needs some TLC and they seemed to give it to me. My only issue with them was listening — sometimes they didn’t seem to believe what I was saying about my car, but eventually they let it sink in.
If I wasn’t lazy, I probably would have found a different mechanic.

So I almost got a fully loaded Saab 9 – 3 a couple of years ago. One of the worst experience in purchasing a car was at this dealership. I felt like I was in a used dealership all of a sudden.
Well I was pretty sure I wanted the 9 – 3 at the time, and it definitely wasn’t the salesperson that sold me on it. He was scary looking, fat and bald and had a sandwich wrapper on his desk.
So I put a deposit on a 9 – 3 that night that I went in, haggling the price down about a whopping $ 500 from the price tag. The sales guy tells me that the car will be ready by 10am the next morning. So I come in at 9:45pm, the sales guy isn’t even there yet. Someone else approaches me by trying to sell me a car when i’m waiting, i told him that I was supposed to meet the guy that sold me a car from the night before and he was supposed to have a car ready waiting for me outside in a few minutes. so 10:30 comes around, the receptionist tells me that the guy is running late and he won’t be in until 11:30 and the car won’t be ready until at least 1pm. BIG MISTAKE on his part. I was pissed by this time taking time away from my work day in the morning to get a new car, which was supposed to be an awesome experience. So I went around the the dealership looking at other cars.
I walked into the Infiniti dealer and saw the price tag on a brand new G35, and it came to about the same. So I started talking to the Infiniti guy and told him that I actually put a deposit on a Saab, and he backed off a little, but I told him that if he can convince me then i’ll get an Infiniti instead.
I knew going in that Inifiniti’s are way better quality than Saabs are anyways, and my mind was already made up, after the whole ordeal that day, of not getting a Saab. So we cut a deal and I put a bigger downpayment on a G35, and the sales guy calls the Saab financing manager to tell him to give me back my deposit. So I go back to grab my deposit and all of the sales people were standing there by the finance office, and the sales guy was there too, were all staring at me and were seriously making snide remarks (to which i heard) about me getting my deposit back. And what pissed me off even more was when I get the deposit back the guy THREW a check at me! That’s right, he didn’t HAND it over, he THREW it at me!
And never will I ever recommend anyone buying a car from these guys! They were rude and unprofessional during the whole experience.
Maybe if the guy didn’t show up late nor broke his promise on delivary, there would’ve been a chance for a complete transaction, but the way they acted in the end was completely unforgiveable.
