So today I finally wanted to give this place a chance regardless I used to be waiting my friend for his haircut, I somehow never had a haircut in here. Easily speaking, I found this place has no personality at all… My usual barber from another salon is on vacation, I finally decide to give this place a chance… Turns out I don’t think I’ll be coming back. First of all, I call in the morning I don’t know how busy this place usually is, the person who picked up my phone tended to be the manager for this place… Who was really rude. I sucked it in, and drug myself down to the salon, alright. Real fun is here. The barber Ken intended to be the Debby downer. I always have an idea what kinda style I’m looking for. When he looked at the picture I found, he had no problem to do it. However, the more hes doing the style, he complaining the style that I wanted doesn’t suit me at all… I mean if you really think it isn’t good for me, why didn’t you give me opinion when we were back at discussing the style? Now you almost finish, you suddenly dropping bombs on my heart, does it make any of us feel good? I ended up leaving the place felt like shit. Moreover, they were not punctual at all… It end up took them 20 mins to finish with last customer when it was my appt time… In the meantime, I was kept getting asked «who you booked with? What time?»… Well, being in business for these long, you guys absolutely learnt nothing.

They took me in even when they were super busy and I hadn’t made an appointment. I kind of really liked how they all multi tasked and worked on multiple people at a time, but there were so many assistants there was always someone doing something for you. My hair came out exactly how I wanted (digital perm). Three months later the curls are still there and look wonderful. Everyone that worked there were so sweet and friendly, and very knowledgeable.

Tony is strongly recommended.

By far the worst haircut anyone has given me.
First of all, hair washer did a decent job, no massage like I should have gotten and I’m paying for the wash.
On to the haircut. Tony was my stylist– remember because you don’t want to request him! I looked up pictures for the type of cut I wanted and showed him specifically and in detail how I wanted my hair. I didn’t pay much attention because I trusted him with my hair since I’m paying 40 $ for a cut not including tip. I did look up once and saw that he did the weirdest technique to layer – literally used scissors and chopped it into 3 sections. And guess what? My hair is all chopped in weird uneven lengths now. On top of that, I’m sure he knew he did a terrible job because he curled my hair without asking, maybe hoping to hide the mistakes he made.
UGH SO DISSAPOINTED. DO NOT CO ME HERE DO NOT TRUST THEM!!! MY HAIR IS SO UNEVEN NOW!!!

Just came out of here with a cute hair cut. I was a lunch hour walk-​in, but I didn’t have to wait long. Everyone took really good care of me, especially considering…
1. I’m doing the no shampoo thing and asked for just a rinse. It was clearly a bit of a hindrance and the stylist was not into it, but she was a really good sport anyway!
2. I haven’t had my hair cut professionally in like eight years, so standard salon protocol is alien to me. Specifically, there may have been some awkward mirror staring going on until magazines were placed in front of me. (I’m used to my amateur stylists telling me to look straight ahead and not down)
If it weren’t for the understandable discomfort with my kind of hair, I’d totally be back! But for their sake, I’ll probably seek out a stylist who’s into the hippie thing. Still, thanks for the hair adventure!

I do not use Unilocal,but I had such a terrible experience that I had to make an account just to share.
I brought a picture of a red to blonde ombré to this salon yesterday and left with something completely different of what I wanted. My hairdresser did not speak to me the entire time to let me know the process my hair was undergoing; in fact, he actually left me towards the end of my visit to work on other customers.
During the first process, as they had to redo it because the «first color didn’t come out,» my hairdresser Jason had no idea what he was doing. He bleached the bottom half of my hair but applied the red right over it so when it was dry my hair had red blotches everywhere. Not to mention, he ran out of red dye so used the blonde dye he had leftover to apply on the top half of my head. Therefore, my once brown hair actually turned blonde on the top as well leaving me with a full head of blonde hair with red blotches.
I wanted to cry at this point but Jackie suggested a new color. I am baffled that they still allowed him to work on my hair. He actually asked me what color I wanted on the bottom and top of my hair; after having worked on my hair for two hours, you would think he would know what I wanted. So he applied the red hair dye this time. More on my forehead than on my hair, as my skin is still stained as I write this review.
Two hours later and no Jason to be found, the red did come out but not in an ombré. One solid color of red, one solid color of blonde. I was extremely unhappy but relieved that I was not fully blonde. Since it was already 5 hours since my arrival time I gave them a grateful smile as I am not one to complain and I knew it was a lot of work. However I would like to save someone else a horrendous trip and their money. It was surprising that they made it seem like it looked great and that they had fixed everything, also making it a point that it was because my hair was difficult. I had spoken to someone earlier who said ladies come in for this type of coloring all the time, which i now find to be untrue. They charged me for every single hair treatment and bleaching even though it was the fault of their inexperienced salon. I left and paid without a complaint because I was honestly tired and frustrated at that point. Also, their service from those who can speak English is actually very good, I suppose I can give a star for that.
Overall I find my visit to be very unsatisfying and disappointing. I would not go here if you speak English or would like anything special done with your hair. As soon as I left the salon I cried for hours about my hair and the amount of money I wasted on it. I will never go back and I am going to dye my hair again tonight to fix this.

Had a disaster hair mishap at another salon and came here after a friend recommended it. Made an appointment with Jackie and now I don’t go anywhere else! I don’t even live in Boston but I will wait until I visit the city to get a haircut with her.

This is the most brilliant hair cut salon I ve been. I got the best hair cut here with Joe!!!

I’ve been getting my haircuts there for 4 years now and still love it. I usually go to Tony. He doesn’t speak much English, but he does a really good job cutting hair once he knows what you want. I definitely recommend it.
Oh and it’s pretty affordable too, at least comparing to other places!

It’s my first time to try a hair cut at this place. $ 40 for washing, cut, and blowing. Such a good deal. I just walked in without an appointment, then a hairstylist named Ken took care of me. He is very nice and professional. I asked for a suggestion for my hair style, he did very good job. He explained the detail to me and told me which style is better for me. He is very humorous. I like my new style so much. It makes me feel different. I think I’m gonna go back to request him next time :)

The stylists at Hair Adventure advertise their expertise via their ultra-​fashionable hair. I never ask for a particular person because I know I’m in good hands with anyone who works there. The service is quick, friendly, and the advice to blow dry more often is always earnest and well-​intentioned. My hair has gotten compliments after every visit to Hair Adventure, causing my follicles to puff up with pride, thus adding volume. This place rocks.

I’ve been here on multiple occasions, and overall, I’m a satisfied customer. On my most recent visit though, I have to take away one star from what would’ve been a 5-​star experience. I felt very rushed as soon as I walked in. They started putting the robe on me before I even had a chance to put my bag down. Everyone who works here is really friendly though, but some are harder to communicate with because of language barriers.
The stylist who cut my hair spoke mostly Chinese, so I was able to converse with her in some Mandarin. She did a good job, but cut my hair shorter than I would’ve liked. She was very thorough though, which I appreciated.
Unfortunately, she was very pushy about me buying their haircare products, and wouldn’t stop raving about how their products are better than anyone else’s. I hope that this was just a one time experience, and that they don’t always do this to their customers.

I’ve been going to the same salon for 14 years and was happy with my haircuts when my hair was short, but the last three cuts on my long hair were butchered (aka I got an 80’s heavy metal mullet). Anyway, the girls at my gym kept talking about Hair Adventure Beauty Salon so today I decided to give it a try. I called them as soon as they were open and managed to get an appointment an hour later.
I’m so happy Eden got to work on my hair. She gave me an awesome haircut that’ll be very easy to maintain and I can tell it’ll grow out nicely. She gave me a few tips, suggested a few products and I’m happy as a clam. I’m so glad she only works with scissors, I hate when they use razors to cut hair. I have thick, straight hair and I should’ve gone to an Asian hair salon sooner, they know how to treat thick hair.
Anyway, I am a huge new fan of this salon. Ask for Eden. You can thank me later.

I came in to get a haircut without a lot of expectations as I made my appointment 10 mins prior to getting to the salon. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by the end product and would probably be coming back as situation permits. The price is a bit steep compared to what I usually pay in Cali, but the workmanship and meticulous attitude is worth the money. My stylist Eden spent time figuring out what type of haircut to give me based on my profession and habits. (Paying 40 dollars in LA/​SF gets you 30 mins top with the stylist… she spent well over an hour on my hair in late Friday afternoon going over every detail to make sure the haircut meets my expectation). She also gave various advice on how to maintain the hair afterward. Gf loved the end result, and I will likely be coming back when I am back in town. Thanks Eden!

I have been coming here for a few years. In the past, i always had Betty who was great, but heard she’s on a one year leave. So i gambled and asked for Liling.
I love my haircut from Liling. Ive gotten a ton of compliments on it and its super easy to maintain. She also gave me helpful little tips on how to straighten my hair and maintain it. The only thing i didnt like was that she tried to upsell me on a perm or straightening job. But nevertheless, a good cut is worth everything. The cut was 40 and i gave a veey generous tip.

Will make it my go to place for haircuts after my visit there today. I had Betty as my stylist. She is kind, sweet, and patient. She listens to what I want and gives her suggestions. I am very satisfied with how it comes out. The only thing negative I would say is the price. Did haircut+coloring and its over $ 150. I’m not sure but it feels high to me.

Lilin is the one and only person I’ve gone to for a haircut for the past few years. She takes her time cutting my hair, and only uses scissors, no razors. The styles grow out wonderfully.
Go to Lilin! She always remembers me and pays close attention to detail to her work. She’s great with long hair. Jacky is supposed to be better with short hair, but the last time my mom went, Jacky was preoccupied with other customers and didn’t do a great job. Guess she is getting too popular!

This really pains me to write because it will be more difficult to score an appointment, but this review is really for Betty since I don’t let anyone else touch my hair. I usually seek out Asian salons for my thick, straightish texture.
Betty has been my go-​to hair stylist in Boston for the last 2 years and I couldn’t recommend her more highly. The quality of service and haircut you get from her could easily go for 3x the price on Newbury. I like to change my hair up so when I go in with a picture of what I want my hair to look like, Betty and I talk it over and then she goes to work.
She works quickly and sometimes in the process I question the method to the madness but have come to trust Betty’s judgment when it comes to hair. She always uses scissors (on me) and not the dreaded razor that is popular at many Asian salons. I say this in the best way possible — the hair in the picture is what I get on my head, not some barely-​similar interpretation of what I wanted. Betty blow dries, flat irons, and styles my hair and does a thorough cross check of her cuts. She does such a great job in fact, that her cuts grow out beautifully and I will get asked if I just got a hair cut 3 – 5 months after.
As I mentioned, while I don’t see other stylists at Hair Adventure, I do have to say that I have always had positive experiences with the rest of the staff. Ken has washed my hair the last couple of times I’ve been there and he is always kind and thorough.
In short: Go see Betty, she’s a rock star! A wash, cut, and style is only ~$ 40+ the awesome tip you will want to leave her.
