This is the first all women lion & dragon dance troupe in the US! If you don’t know what lion or dragon dance is, go YouTube it right now. This troupe performs all over the Boston area as well as other US cities, and they do such a fantastic job promoting this great sport. I didn’t know much about it until I saw them perform at a New Year’s event near my school. Come to find out, they had a 10-​week training class for Asian women (of all ages and backgrounds) who were interested in learning the craft of lion dance or dragon dance. If you become a long-​term member of the troupe, you can even learn thunder drumming (my one true dream)!!!
I LOVED the trial class and the recital is linked at the bottom. Unfortunately, I didn’t have the 1-​year commitment to devote to the troupe, but I was SOOOOOOO close to quitting grad school to be an all-​star lion-​dancer. (not LINE dancer, like most people mis-​hear)
