Fresh Mango

It has been too cold for me to get a froyo, so it took this long for me to find out that Fresh Mango has closed shop. Yup, and with four pre-​paid punches left on my card. Bummer.

Yeah… So this place is totally closed. I purchased a 10 punch card kind of deal from Groupon a bit ago that I’ve been redeeming over time and I went today for a frozen treat and they were closed.
«Lights off, no chairs, fro-​yo machines yanked out of the wall» closed if you get my drift.
I called the number listed on their website and it was out of service.
Thanks for taking my money!

The original is nice and tart, texture is smooth and the price is reasonable for the quality. I didn’t add toppings but I’d go again.

The selection was great, the fruit was fresh and piled on (as much as would fit) and the experience was fantastic. Also there is a live 15 minute parking spot directly across the street, which is a huge plus for that area! Would highly recommend!!!

This is the best frozen yogurt I’ve had in the area. It tastes light and fresh (I have only tried the coconut so far). I like that it is not a chain and I think the prices are comparable to other frozen yogurt shops in Boston, especially those in the neighborhood.

So far I’ve only had a protein shake here. For $ 5.50 you can get a protein shake with whatever flavor yogurt you want, fruit and protein. I think the price is fairly reasonable compared with other protein shake places out there and it tasted pretty good.
I’m rooting for these guys because they are a small business and not one of the big chains.

This is one of those one of a kind places in downtown that make it special. If you want chain froyo it’s around, but this is refreshing and a little different. Very light flavor, seems more natural than some (pistachio flavor — yum). Glad it’s here for a quick treat. The prices seem very fair and the staff is so nice! Also some excellent student discounts and other deals. Always a pleasure. Not sure why the price range is listed as so high on the Unilocal rating, it’s not.

Not only is this delicious but it’s not too sweet and perfectly filling but won’t leave you too full.
It’s a health alternative to heavy ice cream and great flavors!
This company visited my office and we got to sample a lot of the different kinds. Another thing aside from the yogurt, was the gracious employees with smiles on their face that made it worth it :)

The raspberry flavor was fabulous! Generous portions, and excellent customer service!!!

This is a reasonable frozen yogurt shop. However, it’s on a side street and seems to enjoy only the occasional customer — so why the Ritzy price scheme?
I just returned to work with a «regular» sized mango and coconut soft serve yogurt, and a wallet that was almost $ 5 lighter. Almost $ 5 for a medium yogurt!?!
Four dollars and forty-​something cents for a medium yogurt, WITHOUT toppings, and after applying a 10% coupon (more a symbolic gesture than a meaningful reduction in price) is really just too much.
Penny wise but pound foolish, Fresh Mango. I beg to know how it makes sense for the local franchisee to pay a yogurt barker $ 8 or more dollars an hour to stand outside the shop — all day and every day — to distribute 10% off coupons that are nary an incentive at all to step foot inside? If I hadn’t been earnestly jonesing for some low fat dairy dessert, I would have steered clear of Fresh Mango, on principle, because of their parsimonious couponing régime.
It would seem a much sounder business practice to offer real coupons — 30% off or greater — in conjunction with fair regular prices on yogurt. The greater customer flow that would follow (and this is pretty good yogurt, remember…) would more than make up for the nominal losses that would stem from a more ambitious system of discounts. In truth, I’d bet Fresh Mango would make money on yogurts sold at half price — so what gives?

it’s a smaller place than the usual pinkberry or other yogurt store. they have 4 flavors (mango, vanilla, and can’t remember the other 2). they have a good amount of toppings, but less than other places but honestly the places with huge topping bars is just full of candy.
we got the special, which is $ 4.99 for a medium with 2 toppings (and we paid .50 cents more for a flavored yogurt). the blueberry tasted fresh and the mochi was super soft (a good thing). it was $ 5.87 so it’s right there with the usual places. the quantity was good and they don’t give you a huge gap in the middle of the yogurt like Pinkberry.
the store itself is small with 10 chairs total. it was well kept and the lady was friendly and helpful. they have free WiFi.

I had the regular flavored froyo. It was icy and not rich and luscious like some other froyo places I have been to. This was a 2 star (and i love frozen desserts!). The mango on the other hand. I know why mango is in their name! It tasted like a decadent mango sorbet. (i give this a 3, so we are averaging out at a 2)

Typical froyo place, except with fewer flavor choices (cherry, salted caramel, mango and original). Typical toppings. I must say the lady that helped us was extremely nice though. It’s very convenient for the working professionals working around Downtown Crossing who are looking for a sweet midday break.
Also, it apparently has free wifi. Since it’s relatively new, could be a great study/​work place!

Like Julie F, I, too, love froyo. Just thinking about that creamy, dreamy deliciousness is enough to make my body go on auto-​pilot to find it. Surprisingly, it took me two months to visit Fresh Mango after I started working downtown.
There’s nothing terribly wrong about the place, but it’s just not all that good. The original flavor isn’t very tart or smooth or anything else you want in high-​quality froyo (disclaimer: Pinkberry is pretty much my gold standard here). The mango and cherry were just okay, but I’m glad I only sampled and didn’t devote a whole or half cup to either. As somewhat of a concession to their less-​than-​stellar product, the serving size is HUGE! I got a small which towered above the top of the cup. It is definitely enough to share if you are into that kind of thing.
They did have a wide variety of toppings including fresh fruit, candies, cereal, and other standard goodies. Off to the side they have honey, Hershey’s chocolate syrup, and little shakers of stuff fo’ free.
The girl behind the counter was friendly enough and was patient while we sampled. The shop itself was clean and had plenty of seating, so that’s a definite plus. My only serious complaint was that there wasn’t a trash can anywhere visible in the store. We had to awkwardly carry our empty cups outside, but at least there was a city bin nearby.
I can’t say I’d go out of my way to visit Fresh Mango again, but it’s nice to know there’s froyo available if/​when I want it.

Now that these fro yo places are a dime a dozen in most cities Fresh Mango was mediocre among them all.
The fro yo both mango and original flavor was way to cold to taste anything, think dry ice and the service behind the counter had attitude even though we were the only people in the place.
On the positive side their serving sizes were huge– a small can easily feed two and the toppings were fresh. All and all if Fresh Mango was the only fro yo joint in town, I would be a regular but in a city like Boston there are better options.

Fresh Mango’s location is very accessible; however that doesn’t compensate for its shortcomings. The froyo is expensive, there are few flavors, and the toppings are unremarkable.
If you do choose to drop by, know of the student special — one free topping with ID.

They have 4 different flavors of frozen yogurt, one being original. I’ve wanted to check this place out but only just made it over there today. They had Nutella frozen yogurt — delicious! I had a small (which was pretty big) and didn’t get any paid-​for toppings but there were LOTS of choices (candy, fruit, nuts, etc). I didn’t have the hollow middle problem that a previous reviewer had… mine was definitely overly full and delicious. Like Pinkberry, they also offered samples (pretty generous ones actually) to test out the flavors and they have a little table with cinnamon, honey, and Hershey’s chocolate syrup toppings for free. I went with the chocolate syrup. Yum! I’ll definitely be back.
Also, the service was great — quick and friendly, just the way I like it on my lunch break! And the price wasn’t too bad for downtown either. My small with no toppings was $ 3.48 (post-​tax). It’s 50 cents a topping.

I came here again, and this time I did get fruits with my froyo. I think someone mentioned that they push your froyo aside to make room for the toppings. Yes, they do do that, but only because they give you a lot of froyo in the first place. But whoever said that they skimp on giving toppings is wrong. The person who served it to me made room for fruits around the entire cup, so I’m a happy camper.
It ended up about $ 5 for a regular + one topping, which is kind of expensive, but Pinkberry and the like are about the same, soo.
Btw, they have free wifi. It’s password protected though, so I think you have to ask for the password?

I was really excited to see a froyo place come to downtown crossing!
To steal Unilocal’s 2-​star definition: «Meh, I’ve experienced better.»
First, I bought 3 regular cups and it was 17 bucks! WAY too expensive… The guy behind the counter filled the cup so it couldn’t possibly fit even a decent portion of 1 topping. Come on… you want me to pay 50 cents per topping and I got maybe a half teaspoon of strawberries and one half of one oreo. Really?
Fresh Mango needs to adjust to either allow for unlimited toppings with some expert training on how to properly allocate toppings, or adopt a Red Mango concept… where you pay buy the weight.
If you’re going to charge 50 CENTS per topping, don’t be so stingy.
Hey yogurt guys: Maybe think about making room for toppings so people can actually pick more than half of one.
Not going back unless they change.

Yesterday was their first day, so I’ll cut them some slack, but their original needs to be more tart and more… delicious. I’ll give them a brownie point for having a good selection of fresh fruit though.
If you can, go to Pinkberry or Berryline. If you can’t make it to the Back Bay or can’t stand the lines at the trendy froyo stores, come here instead.
