Fields Corner Station – MBTA – Red Line

Times are always somehow off and it’s outside with a very strange roof that somehow doesn’t keep you dry.

Do not come to this T station expecting any service from a T worker. Most days, there is no one there to answer questions, get Charlie Cards, nothing. I came here recently with my cousin who was visiting from out of town. I wanted to get him a plastic Charlie Card. Spotted a T worker and literally chased him down to ask for one. He rudely responds, «Don’t have one.» Great ambassador for the City of Boston, wouldn’t you say? Keeps me coming back for more that’s for sure.

After a major renovation the new Fields Corner station is a very pretty addition to the neighborhood. I just wish that the neighboorhood took care of the facility better. Not a week after the new facility was open there were several cracked glass panels from people throwing rocks at it. It is also usually riddled with flying trash, from the platform to the lobby, people just don’t see there are trash cans everywhere. The MBTA needs to step up too & maintain the station, lights, walking paths, etc.

No, there isn’t a convenient coffee joint nearby. No, you don’t have absolute protection against the elements.
It’s a T station, not a bomb shelter or a hipster hangout. Is it always clean? Yes. Is there an elevator as well as stairs? Yes. Is there sufficient seating along its lengthy platforms? Yes. Can you see and hear announcements anywhere in the station? Absolutely.
What more do you want? (Unfortunately Fields Corner T Station has little influence over the frequency of trains running on the Red Line. That’s a story for a different review.)
