Great location but staff needs some training in hospitality
Went to front desk asked about possibility if pushing back checkout 1 hour and was quite abruptly informed — no were fully booked need you to check out… housekeeping staff ignores you when you pass by them…
Although may look quaint it’s basically a very tired and old hotel — poor lighting in rooms, ac is very loud and blows out of wall directly into bed so you freeze while in bed … Given their prices I’d look elsewhere

I’ve been to a good number of Fairmont properties before, so when I walked under the red awning at Copley Plaza and saw the opulent gold-​gilded ceiling, it definitely felt like we were in for a great stay (if only for a night). Unfortunately, the service in particular did not match the (apparent) quality of the hotel. We showed up a mere half hour before check-​in and were told that our room was being prepared, and that we would be given a call once it was ready. Fair enough — we wandered towards South End and grabbed a bite, and by the time we had finished around 4 PM, still no call (check-​in time was at 3 PM). Grabbed our keys at the front desk and headed up to the corner room that I had burned my free room upgrade (being a Premier member) on… and it turns out they had put us on the 1^st floor, in a corner with a window that had virtually no direct lighting. Then there was the issue of getting our bags. I called after 10 minutes to ask where they were and was told they were on their way. I called another 10 minutes later — same answer. I ended up going down after nearly half an hour because we had a wedding to get to… we really did need our bags. They were ‘loading’ them onto a trolley when I showed up, but I just took them up out of frustration. A complete waste of time, and it was clear the staff did not give two damns about providing good service. Maybe it was the nice Saturday afternoon weather.
Poor service aside, while the room had the feel of a typical Fairmont spot, this had more rough edges than the other Fairmonts I have stayed at. The carpets are a bit frayed, the lamps feel flimsy (and are old — there was an info card that said the lamps had power outlets in their bases… they didn’t), and the room just felt tired. You can see this a bit in the elevators too; when you press a button for a floor, the lights barely work — so it’s hard to see if you actually pressed the button hard enough. The bed and the shower were probably the best thing about the room overall.
While grabbing our bags on the way out was easier than getting them after checking in, I question whether I would come back here. This was definitely my worst overall experience at a Fairmont, and I’m sure that I would come away with a better feeling about the service and the amenities if I had picked one of the other numerous hotels in the nearby area. It dazzles when you walk in (as well as out — the view of Copley Square is fantastic on a nice day), but that barely covers up the deficiencies we encountered the rest of the way.

This is a beautiful hotel in Boston — very luxurious! We came here for a few drinks for happy hour and sat outside in the shade which was really nice. The weather in Boston right now is absolutely beautiful so it was nice to enjoy the outdoors and people watch.
Our server was really nice. He was a little slow with getting our drinks and didn’t really check up on us when we were finished with our rounds but he did a good job. Not sure if he was the only server outside so that could be why.
We didn’t get any food but the menu looked great! Our drinks were all very good but we definitely didn’t get happy hour prices. I think my boyfriend bill was like almost $ 200
But hey… When on vacation!

So… I’m on back to back stays at Fairmont hotels on each coast. Yesterday was Santa Monica, and today is Boston. I gotta tell ya… I LOVE this place!
I’ve actually been coming to the Fairmont Copley’s Oak Room for years. I’ve always considered it beautiful, with great service, except for a slightly stuffy crowd. But then again, it IS Boston…
… but this is the first time I’ve stayed here as a guest, and I have to say I LOVE it. I booked a gold-​level room on
because there wasn’t any other option, so it was a bit pricier than I would have liked, but in the end, TOTALLY worth it. Their complimentary breakfast is… a SMORGASBORG! I’m serious… nothing compares to the size and quality of what I had (see pics!). Holy cow, I was blown away. I felt like I was at some high tea locale somewhere in London, and at any moment some royale or high-​ranking diplomat like Borat would walk in.
The service though. WOW. I came in several hours too early for my reservation as I took the redeye from LA, and they took care of me, especially Gold Supervisor Jennifer. She was amazing, and someone I consider absolute wife material :)
My room as a Nespresso, wifi is included in my package, and in addition to the amazeballs breakfast, they have complimentary Hors D’oeuvres daily from 5−7pm. I mean… come ON!

More like 3.5. You pay 80 bucks for a better room but you don’t get free wifi? Kind of ridiculous. I love the feel of the hotel because it is beautiful I just feel that if you’re going to pay $ 350 you should get free wifi. Also room service has us paying $ 8 a muffin or $ 10 a coffee. I get that this hotel is an institution but at what cost?

Love this place! We will definitely stay here again and not just because of sweet Carly (the hotel pet). They went out of their way to make our anniversary amazing! Everyone treated us like we were royalty. The location is perfect and the hotel is gorgeous.

Nice hotel, but bedding was stained with what appeared to be food stains. At over $ 300 night for the room, I really expected a higher level of sanitation standards from Fairmont Copley Plaza. Definitely advising to check room to ensure it is sanitary ASAP.

Here for two nights on business. The hotel is gorgeous! I often stay at the Waldorf when in NYC and rate this hotel higher. The staff are so nice and so attentive. It’s a great location with plenty of restaurants and shopping nearby. The conference room was the most elegant I have ever seen! Oh, and there is a resident dog, if you need some pet therapy.

PERFECT hotel experience! I live outside Boston and am very familiar with the hotel choices in the city. I highly recommend the Fairmont Copley. I stayed at the Fairmont to host my daughter’s grownup friends (ladies in their early 30’s) for a ‘weekend on the town’ in Boston. The hotel manager, the concierge, and room service exceeded my expectations! The entire staff was so attentive and made sure every detail of our visit was perfect. The Fairmont employees are very dedicated to the hotel and making sure guests are happy. Great Hospitality!
I had two adjoining rooms; a one bedroom suite, which had a view of Copley Square. The room was recently renovated and was the perfect spot to relax between activities in Boston. We also had an adjoining room with two queen beds. The one bedroom suite was gorgeous! I wanted to move in and live there forever. The room was 700 square feet (enormous for a Boston Hotel) and was newly renovated and has a marble bath, two flat screen t.v., and a beautifully furnished living room with a desk and a table for dining. The entry foyer into the room was ideal since it provided privacy between the living space and the bedroom.
The rooms being beautiful was a bonus to the perfect service!

The Fairmont Copley Plaza is the gold standard for hotels in the Boston area. I cannot think of another hotel that is as well run and beautiful yet accommodating and friendly as the FCP. The customer service team goes the extra mile to make sure you have a perfect (and I mean perfect) stay. Not many hotels in Boston, not to mention in the US, can boast that kind of customer attention.
From the moment you walk in, you are immediately swept up in the beauty and design of the flawless lobby. The staff greets you warmly and check in is a breeze. The quality and cleanliness of the room I stayed in was unrivaled by any other hotel in the Boston area that I’ve seen. The bar and restaurant are excellent as well. They’ve got some very tasty drink specials. Lastly, and most importantly, there are two dogs that live in the lobby! Amazing. What more could you want?!
I highly recommend the FCP to anyone visiting the Boston area. The hotel is in a perfect location and is central to many landmarks in the city. It’s also only steps from the Prudential Center and endless shopping. If you’re looking for luxury and comfort you cannot beat the FCP.
*TIP* — While it may be cheaper to book on
you get more bang for your buck (free internet, etc) if you book through the Fairmont website and join their rewards program — why wouldn’t you, it’s free!

We stayed for a girls night out in Boston at this lovely hotel. The rooms are an excellent size for a city hotel as well as extremely clean and well appointed. We fit 4 people (and all our stuff) very easily. We also really enjoyed late night drinks at the attached restaurant. We will definitely be back!

Great location, but old interior and way too busy. Lots of events on weekend. Expected a classier property for Fairmont reputation. Musty smell in the rooms and hall way. Reception area was not classy at all with dogs– did not know it was dog friendly ?
Felt more like a Hilton chain, but old.
Ended up switching hotels .
Renovated rooms– but cold and dark, bathroom — very cold as well.
Would never stay here.

I had a suite in the 2^nd floor. The overall vibe of the hotel is cool and historic. But the rooms sucked. In the king suite there was just a tiny room with straight back chairs. Not exactly a place to lounge and watch TV. The room with the bed was tiny and cramped.
The room was dirty. There was a beer can in the garbage from the last guests. There were drink rings left on tables. Clearly it was barely cleaned. Its an old hotel so you feel it’s age. While it’s décor is nice the rest of it is overrated. Not very well kept, but it’s very authentic (and old).
For the price this is not worth it. Stay somewhere newer, more modern, cheaper, and less snooty. So many cooler places in Boston.

I stayed at the Fairmont for three nights while traveling on business. I love the location! There are plenty of shops and restaurants within a short walk. The rooms are large with modern décor while maintaining a nod to the heritage of the hotel. My bed was comfy and the bathroom had a nice, large shower. My only slight hiccup was that my thermostat must not have been working because my room heated up to 82° on a snowy night. I finally just turned off the heat completely and the room stayed a comfortable 70°.
By the way, they charge you $ 6.25 for each Keurig pod used. I was surprised as the water was marked as $ 7 but not the coffee.
The hotel dog is a sweet black lab!

Wow, I am a huge fan of Fairmont in general! We love Copley — located downtown Boston two streets away from Newbury Street — parking is a hop skip and a jump away from the Copley Mall — if you don’t want to valet. The gym is really nice, that’s important to us! IF you are a fan of in room dining this is your spot!!! They have a great menu, however this hotel has a lot to offer and do not feel bad if you do not leave your room for days on end lol. My only question for this cutting-​edge high end hotel is what steps are they taking for renewable energy? Plenty of roof space for a solar system. I have been here many times, I have stayed at multiple Fairmont hotels including Canada obviously SM :)
The Oak Room for breakfast is off the chain!
The staff — from the in-​room dining staff that takes your orders over the phone all the way to the doormen, they are respectful and kind.

Amazing stay at this hotel. This was my second time in Boston and I couldn’t ask for a better local. not too far either from TD Garden where I went to a bruins game.

We have stayed at the Fairmont Copley Plaza several times over the years and it never disappoints. This go around, I got to try the hotel as both a member of the President’s Club and in a single room. The hubby and I decided to make a business trip into a combo long weekend/​business trip.
We started our stay in a President’s Club suite. The room was beautiful. The bathroom was huge and the bed was super comfy. The free breakfast and appetizers served in the lounge were delicious. The staff was super friendly. All day coffee was a great touch.
At the 3 day mark, the family went home and I was downgraded to steerage for my business trip. Unfortunately our President’s Club status wouldn’t apply to me because my husband left the premises. Truthfully, my new room was lovely. Beautifully appointed and very comfortable.
Room service was terrific, although my breakfast did come 35 minutes earlier than scheduled. Guest Services did make good by coming back with my breakfast at a more reasonable time — with a new plate of food, of course.
The fitness center was really nice. It had great views and clean machines.
Although the best part of our stay at the Fairmont Copley Plaza was meeting Carly and Katie Copley. The 2 labradors that live in the hotel lobby. Very friendly and super adorable. The staff was terrific too.

This review concerns all who might be considering a site for a conference. My company attends conferences all around the country and I can tell you that the hotel often makes or breaks the experience. The Copley Plaza treated us so well, that I felt compelled to come to Unilocal and share it with everyone.
My company sets up a mini book store so that conference attendees can by health and wellness books while attending. This setup is generally laborious and difficult. The staff at the Copley was simply remarkable in their assistance while at the venue. They made our life easy, and acted like our issues were their own to bear.
Katherine in particular was so kind and accommodating that it made the experience for us. S thank you Katherine, and I encourage all people who are considering a conference venue in Boston to look here first.

As expected, glitzy and garish even but an amazing location and wonderful service. President Club members get nice perks and the Gold Level is worthy but both are nearly required to meet modern standards for hospitality at this price point. The building is quite old so charm abounds but in many instances it fails to meet standard.
No towel racks in bathroom was odd, turndown service only upon request, no high tea, no door locks on interior doors, and a nice lobby but nothing grand like many other Fairmont locations.
Many of the elements of the era this building was build have remained but in some cases that doesn’t do the hotel a favor! The bottom line is the Canadian Fairmont «castles» just make a spot like this hard to appreciate. Location, location, location is what sells here for shopping, dining, and tourist fun in the parks.

While the lobby was gorgeous and luxurious, the rooms weren’t that great. Very old feel if you prefer something more modern.
One of the outlets didn’t work and they had to come up to fix it. We went to Oak to have a bite one night and it was okay. We ordered breakfast to the room one morning and the person forgot to bring milk for my coffee and when we told him he said he would be right back with some and never brought it.
But overall the stay was nice and the staff was friendly, but not sure if I would come back.

One of the grand dame Boston hotels. Formerly Copley Park Plaza — it has been a Fairmont property for the last 2 decades? I am a fairmont platinum member so when in Boston I tend to stay here. The typical amenities include a welcoming fruit and cheese tray etc. This time a nice bag of New England saltwater taffy! My wife and kids will enjoy when I get home.
A second surprise was a nice gift card to use at the Neiman Marcus department store across the street! I had lived in Boston after grad school and occasionally shopped there but over the years now married with kids I never went to «needless markup». It was indeed quite an unexpected pleasure.
The restaurant Live Oak is really great for any meal. This time I only had appetizers but they were really good. I didn’t stay long as the bar was a mad house — my business trip was in the middle of Boston Marathon prep. The finish line is also across the street so I was on ground zero.
Like many Fairmont properties they have a beautiful Black Lab (Kate) who gives the hotel character. This unstuffs an old building steeped in tradition.

Closer to 3.5 stars than 4…
Curb Appeal and Check-​In: GORGEOUS! I couldn’t stop taking pictures of the interior. It’s quite grand and impressive.
Room: Warm, inviting, clean, comfortable. I really enjoyed being able to see through the clear shower glass. I will say, though, compared to the entrance, the rooms fell a little flat.
OAK Long Bar + Kitchen: The drinks are unimpressive and the food worse. The service wasn’t as refined as I thought it would be for a hotel of this caliber.
Mure (blackberry mojito) and there’s a cucumber vodka and basil drink: both refreshing and drinkable, but did not care to order more than one of each between two people
The Rogue (red sangria): also drinkable, but reminded me of a sangria that I enjoyed much more at a different establishment
Wagyu Meatballs: dense and flavorless

Gorgeous hotel, pleasant staff, perfect location.
The bar used to be cooler, but now has a bit more lower scale feel to it, though the staff and atmosphere is still great. I love the old charm of this place and the elegance of the décor and fixtures.

Let me start in saying how beautiful this hotel is. It is so vintage, glamorous, and gorgeous. Located in the heart of Boston, it is perfect for visitors who’d like to spend some time cruising around the city. My visit here was a couple of years ago to celebrate the «First Night» which is the annual New Years event for the city. As far as I remember, activities were within walking distance or a short cab ride from the hotel. The restaurant at the hotel it’s beyond gorgeous. Remember that my boyfriend and I ate brunch and really enjoyed it.
Do not recall staying in a special floor but the room was exceptionally lovely. It had a really comfortable bed, full walk in closets, large bathroom with a gigantic bathtub. It is expensive but totally worth the money. You’ll enjoy the stay.

I found my second favorite hotel in Boston.
Priced in par with the Marriott and less than the Lenox, it’s well worth it. Check in was very pleasant and I received a complimentary upgrade to a larger room. Beds are beyond comfortable and the service was lovely. The bar downstairs is lively and a great spot for a pre-​dinner drink. The only thing missing for me was a view from the room and a bathrobe. But since I really can’t justify spending a bazillion bucks on the Boston Harbor Hotel every time I visit, the Fairmont is a great backup.

I came here for a wedding reception. This place looked like a palace. It was awesome, pristine. The food served there was amazing. The staff were attentive.

I had a great time staying at the Fairmont. It’s located at Copley Square in Boston and it’s a lovely area to be in if you are visiting. There is lots of shopping, local restaurants, and a Starbucks around the corner.
The hotel isn’t the newest building but it underwent some recent renovations that really made the rooms lovely.
The beds were really comfortable. The bathroom looked newly renovated and were really nice. If the bathroom door didn’t look like it came from the 70’s, you would never be able to tell the age of the bathroom.
The service and the staff here are great. I really enjoyed interacting with the staff all week.
One of my favorite features of the hotel is Catie Copley and Carly Copley. They are two black labradors that you can sign up to walk. They really give the hotel a cozy and loving feeling.

Not the most modern Fairmont, but amazing service.

I’ve been to quite a few hotels in my time but never to a Fairmont before. I had obtained a booking to the Copley Plaza through Hotwire which rated this hotel as a 4.5* at the time.
In case you are not aware of how Hotwire works you choose a location of a hotel (bigger cities tend to have specific areas in this case it was Back Bay), the number of stars the hotel is rated at (more stars obviously means it is a higher end hotel than the ones with less stars) and pay for the hotel. Once you complete the payment they will tell you want hotel you get. This is good if you don’t really have a loyalty to any particular chain. The downside to this is that you don’t know what you are getting exactly ahead of time but you are going to get a great discount on what you eventually get versus what you would pay list price.
I got a hell of a deal on my room (about 40% off list) after I checked to see what it would have cost if I went direct on their site.
This hotel has been around a while and it has a very classy feel to it. I’ve been in other Fairmonts before but I’ve never stayed in the hotel itself. This was my first experience staying. The room we had was a slight upgrade to the standard room. While we didn’t have a great view (view of John Hancock Tower) I was still very happy with our space and accommodations.
The staff at this place are very professional and easy to talk to. I needed help of the concierge to have something scanned because I needed to send a document to a friend and they were able to help me out with that as well.
The location for this hotel was perfect for everything we needed. There was a T station at Dartmouth and Boyleston (1 block away) while the place is walking distance to the Prudential Center, Copley Place, Newbury street shopping etc.
While I like visiting Faneuil Hall, Quincy Market, downtown crossing etc I didn’t want to necessarily stay there. This area of the Back Bay I found was much nicer and everything was accessible through the T (transit system).
I had to rent a car and the Westin (right across the street) had Enterprise in their lobby although I had to return the car to the Prudential Center after I was done it was a very great location for that too.
I couldn’t be happier with my stay at the Fairmont Copley Plaza.

I didn’t go blindly into this hotel without pre-​existing knowledge of what I was getting into. I knew it was going to be expensive, and it was (valet parking is $ 23 a day and the triple header of State/​City Occupancy Taxes pile on a daily nut of $ 78. But if you’re celebrating a marriage and want to stay where the reception is, as we did, the Copley does not disappoint.
The hotel is a stunner– just an ornate masterpiece of coffered ceilings, gold leaf, impossibly high ceilings, and venetian plaster. Just beautiful.
We stayed in the Museum of Fine Arts Suite on the third floor– it had a huge living-​room with flat screen, a desk, and a sofa-​sleeper. The bedroom was immense, and the large marble bathroom was gorgeous and may have had the best shower I have ever used. It was as big as a small room with super water pressure and temperature, and a massive shower head. Nice plush bath robes too.
The wedding was wonderful beyond words– a perfect combination of stellar function rooms, food and beverage, and service.
So is this a «regular» vacation stay kind of a place? No, I don’t think so. But as a destination hotel where you know you’ll be paying a premium price, I can attest that this weekend we sure received premium service and value.
