I’ve been going here for over 10 years. I’ve trusted Lu to replace a LV strap, work on Hermes belt, replace soles on many pairs of pumps. Always pleased with the results. Great attention to detail and reasonable price. Highly recommend David’s.

it’s been over a year since i found this place and it really changed my life. shoes, bags and belts — reborn. all the broken well loved items in my closet have been fixed and returned to their original glory. seriously. go see luther. he’s the man.

Luther does an amazing job with all of my shoes. Every time I get a new pair he is my first stop before I wear them, weatherproofing, rubber on the soles of all of my heels and replacing the heel that always wear off. He even has red rubber for the bottom of Louboutins! Highly reccommend!

I just started going to this place which was recommended to me by a friend. AMAZING! I have brought 2 pairs of sandals and 1 pair of leather knee high boots. The sandals turned out so beautiful (like new) that my dog decided to indulge on one of them :(My leather knee high almost made me cry on the spot. They were so beaten up from all my late night dancing & hustling I thought I’d have to lay them to rest. They were returned to me glowing and ready for a night out. These guys work magic and the prices are more than fair. Try ‘em and see for yourself!

I have been going to David’s consistently for the past several years and every time his work exceeds my expectations. He does great work on all of my shoes and my wife’s shoes (allen edmonds, brooks brothers, tory burch, boots, flats, heels, oxfords — he does great work on them all). New heels, new soles, refreshing uppers, stretching, cleaning difficult to remove spots. It looks like a new shoe every time. I think I have been there 30 times over the years and after so many years I definitely trust these guys above anyone else.

I got a dab of cheese (a story for another Unilocal review) on a pair of light grey suede shoes, brought the shoe to David’s Instant Shoe Repair, and got them cleaned on the spot. No charge. Wonderful service!

Dave’s can fix anything! My husband and I have been bringing shoes in for «power soles» and repairs for years. Dave’s has brought favorite shoes back from the dead more than once and made them like new. I’ve also brought in purses and belts for repair and cleaning. I have referred many others to Dave’s and will keep referring. Love these guys!

It occurred to me today as I was picking up my shoes at David’s that I have been using them exclusively as a cobbler for the past 9 years, and that every single item they have worked on has turned out fabulous. This inspired me to sign up for Unilocal and write my very first review, so here it is: Let me begin by saying that I am really into nice, high quality shoes, which naturally, are pretty expensive. It is important to me to have a cobbler that can take proper care of said shoes, and help them last and look good for as long as possible. I would say that I bring about 20 pairs of shoes per year to David’s, both new ones to be protected and older ones for maintenance. They have done many different things for me — replaced heel taps, added protective soles (they do an amazing red one for Louboutin’s, btw), repaired scuffs and tears on heels (which happens all the time with Boston’s brick sidewalks), cut down those 5″ heels that were just a little too high, dyed leather shoes to a different color, stretched shoes to make them more comfortable, tightened loose hardware, repaired broken buckles, and waterproofed/​protected boots and even pocketbooks. They have also fixed more unusual things like when the coated canvas began to lift off my favorite Jimmy Choo flats I thought they were goners, but they glued it down and they literally look new again. My shoes are always ready when promised, and their prices are reasonable — not cheap, but more than fair for the high quality work that they do. The thought of going to another cobbler makes so nervous that if I ever moved from Boston I would seriously consider shipping them my shoes to work on.

The zipper on my favorite pocketbook/​man-​purse broke. I went into this store and asked if they could fix it. They said yes and that it would cost $ 20. I thought: that’s great and double checked and said — you mean the zipper will be like new and work properly? And the guy said it would. So, I handed over my money and waited patiently for 3 days for the repair. I was delighted when I came back to the store to have the zipper fixed. It worked great — and I was happy.
Fast forward 3 weeks later. The zipper broke again. Son-​of-​a — ! Mind you: I’m not man-​handling the pocketbook. In fact, I don’t use the zipper that often to begin with — only when I’m in really crowded areas. I was at a local fair when I tried to close the zipper — to ward off pick-​pockets — and the zipper busted. Essentially, the ‘slider’ came off the zipper teeth/​track. I was angry.
So, today I went to the repair store to figure out what happened. The guy instantly recognized me which was great since I didn’t have my receipt in hand. And, I showed him the zipper had broke just two days earlier. He claimed that he charged me $ 20 to repair just one «side» of the zipper. And that the broken part was «the other side» that he didn’t repair. He also couldn’t figure out why it broke. And he said, it would have cost $ 60 if I wanted the full zipper replaced. And that «maybe» his brother would cut me a deal.
I don’t know the mechanics of a zipper. But I’m infuriated that this guy wasn’t fully transparent with me about what they were fixing. I was told they’d fix the zipper to make sure it worked properly. I also think it was balonie that he wanted to charge me more money for the additional repair.
If you choose to patron this place, which is entirely up to you, I recommend fully understanding what exactly you’re getting fixed/​repaired, and to know what guarantee they will make on that repair.
2 stars — they were timely and somewhat courteous. However, I feel like I’ve been taken for a ride.
