Communications Collaborative

I was contacted by Mary about working with Communications Collaborative. At the time, I had been freelancing for about three years and had been busy pretty much the entire time, but since she was close to where I freelanced I figured it would be good to meet in case I slowed down. I never had the highest opinion of staffing firms after meeting with PSG many years ago and Creative Circle more recently (both a complete waste of time).
When I met with Mary, I was immediately impressed. She was friendly, professional, and down to earth, which seems to be a rarity in my limited staffing firm experience. I wasn’t rushed and didn’t feel like a number when I was there. We discussed my experience and the type of work I’d like to do more of. She seemed eager to learn more about me so she could reach out to me with positions that pertained to my interests and skills.
Mary contacted me a couple times by phone with some interesting freelance gigs, but I was already busy at the time that she contacted me so I didn’t pursue them. It was really refreshing to have someone contact me directly rather than just sending me email after email of positions that have nothing to do with my experience level or skills!
I got a full-​time job soon after that, and Mary sent a friendly email congratulating me. I didn’t end up working with Communications Collaborative, but I had a positive initial experience that much more focused and individualized than PSG and Creative Circle. For anyone looking for work but weary of working with a creative staffing firm, I recommend talking with Communications Collaborative.

I wrote a review on PSG Staffing Group awhile back, and I found Communications Collaborative (CC) to be a LOT better experience.
While PSG Staffing Group only pulled up a couple of so-​so opportunities for me, CC chose to interview me for an awesome company in greater Boston!
Let me backtrack. Sometime at the end of the summer, I submitted my resume to CC about a job listing. A couple of months later, I was asked to interview for another position at the company I referenced earlier.
The process all happened so fast — I only knew about the interview about 1.5 hours before it happened. Someone from the agency was VERY understanding and had the decency to drive me to the interview, as there would have been no way I would have made it by public transportation.
I found out I got the job about an hour after the interview and have been working for a couple of months now. My contract also just got extended.
CC is more specialized and isn’t as crowded as PSG was. PSG agents weren’t as responsive, while I found the agents at CC to be a lot more responsive. Not to mention, the opportunities were more promising and aligned more with my interests.
It is definitely not the worst placement agency. Not everyone is going to come out with their dream job no matter what agency you go to.

Worst.
I thought to branch out from the «other» placement agency I was working with figuring the more bodies working for me the better. Wrong.
I was contacted and suggested I come in for an interview. I asked if it could be done over the phone and was told no — as I expected. I tried. When I arrived, the agent sat with me, asked a few questions — about me, not about my skill set — and then said they didn’t have any jobs available just yet but possibly in the future. I was pissed… she couldn’t have done this on the phone?
From there on out, I would get all sorts of emails about jobs, most not even relevant to my skill set. They don’t contact me anymore seeing as I always pass on their job opportunities — being irrelevant to me.
Maybe someone else has fared better than I?
