We provide high quality analogue and digital photographic and imaging services to the creative and business communities of greater New England. Colortek of Boston offers in-​house film processing, color and black&white printing, film and flat art scanning, retouching and restoration, headshots and custom printing. Hand crafted photo gifts have also been introduced to our services, such as gallery wrapped canvas prints, photo books, photo ornaments, and image transfers. In 2011, Colortek of Boston was acquired by General Manager, Jackie Anderson. Within this new ownership, Colortek of Boston continues to provide the highest quality analogue photographic services, and has integrated industry standard digital processes to meet the needs of all clientele.

In 2011 Jackie Anderson acquired Colortek of Boston. Jackie brings over 24 years of experience in the photo lab industry and was previously the General Manager of Colortek Pro Color Lab. Her extensive knowledge in this ever changing industry has been a vital resource for photographers, enthusiasts and beginners.

I’ve used Colortek for 20 years back when I had them process 4×5 color negatives at this location as well as dropping off at their old Newbury Street location (RIP). While I rarely shoot film these days, its nice to know a local place offers this. If you’re looking to get large prints done for gifts or display in your own home, they do great work at surprisingly reasonable prices. They also can do gallery wrap canvases if you’re looking for something that stands out more than a traditional mural sized print.

This place is fantastic! I was in a rush and needed a DVD produced which included 500 pictures from my Grandma’s 80th birthday and over 45 minutes of music. The staff at Colortek assured me that they could help me get my task done within my time frame, all at a reasonable price. They also kept the lines of communication open from start to finish which is important when you’re dealing with people’s personal media. I would recommend this place for all of your digital needs.

I really wanted to love this place because the location is fantastic, but my printing experience with Colortek left a lot to be desired. My prints came out very dark and green, far worse than I’ve experienced from consumer labs like Shutterfly, Target, etc. I didn’t have time for the order to be remade, so I couldn’t ask for a reprint. Up until that point, my experience with the staff was great, but I wish they had checked my prints for quality before handing them over.

Where does a lady get her film developed after the demise of the reliably average Ritz Camera empire? In Boston, the answer is Colortek. Those of us who don’t want to subject our film to the criminally inconsistent processing at the local CVS – that should be all of us, by the way– can turn to Colortek, whose relatively inexpensive, short-​turnaround, and good-​quality processing makes it a worthy choice. I don’t know what prices are for larger formats, but as of now a black and white roll of 35 MM, 36 exposure is $ 14.99 for film develop and prints, and 24 exp is $ 11.99. And there’s about a 24-​hour turnaround – perhaps even same day if you came in early enough. That’s way cheaper, and so much faster, than Hunt’s, which cost me over $ 20 for one dinky roll of film and a photo CD (not even prints!!).
I’d give 4.5 stars if I could simply because I noticed some small imperfections on some of my prints, like dust/​hair. But I had a lot of landscape images with big chunks of sky, so I suppose any small imperfection is highly noticeable.

Convenient photo developing with friendly staff. Developed photos within time frame and good quality.
The not so good: They missed a couple of my photos on the double prints. Also, not that I minded too much, but I had 2 rolls of film developed in which I paid the full price for them. They put both sets on the same disc. Now this could’ve been a problem if they were not connected sets, but they were. They still should have given me 2 separate discs instead.
All and all I will probably use them again, however I am not overly enthused.

Very conveniantly located minutes from South Station. High quality production. These people know what they are doing. I had my daughter’s headshots reproduced here. They fixed the color and set up the text in a professional manner. They were perfectionists with a small job. I highly recommend actors use this place for reproductions.

It was a great pleasure working with ColorTek. They treated me like a long-​time valued customer and it was the first time they ever heard from me. And I had an ugly job.
They listened patiently and even sympathetically about a rush job called in minutes after they opened. At 8:34am they accepted the job and patiently waited for me to slog through commuter traffic to South Station. By 9:00 they started. At 11:02 am they had digitized 76 ancient slides, uploaded the and they were in at MIT classroom where my colleague gave his presentation, complete with images.
Outstanding.
Amazing.

I was looking to make a photo into a canvas piece.
Great website with price list; called to ensure it could be done when I needed it by. Used their easy-​upload feature on their website… someone called me to confirm the print and the order, and called again when they finished it – the next day! It turned out beautifully and the people were helpful and friendly. I’ll be using them again for future projects.

We employed this Photo lab for a work project and they did a phenomenal job! Everything to spec, work produced in a timely fashion, attention to detail, going the extra mile. They even delivered the work to our University. So I give them the highest marks for producing a professional quality set of poster work soup to nuts including mounting and all the brass tacks. Best in the business in Boston as far as I am concerned! Special shout-​out to Jackie who handled all the details so thoroughly and attentively :)

Came by on Monday because I needed to get some 120 film developed, and apparently doing so is much more difficult than I’d anticipated. After running around to a bunch of photo places that couldn’t, I did a Unilocal search and found these guys. It was way more expensive that I thought it would be, about $ 29 for two rolls of twelve shots with negative and prints, but hey. This is the price I pay for wanting to be artsy and play with medium format film. The lady at the counter was really nice, and it only took two days to process my film. I came in 30 minutes to closing on Wednesday and they had forgotten to make prints for me so the lady (same one) did it right then and there, which I thought was nice. I will go back, mostly because I don’t have much of a choice but the customer service was good and the prints turned out well so I don’t have anything to complain about!

If you’re shooting medium format, this is the only place in Boston area that would process your film. My 120’s always get processed the same day I turn them in as long as I bring it before noon.

I’m a professional photographer but had never used their services before. Got a friendly and professional call regarding a question on my emailed order. There website is quick and simple to use. Not sure what all the negative comments are about as I found the young lady there very pleasant. I’ll go get my prints today so I’ll check the atmosphere and write again if my impression changes.

If you don’t look closely, you’ll miss it, but there’s a decent photo lab tucked in the building right across from South Bus Station. Just look for the huge photo of Denis Leary outside.
This lab caters to both the casual and professional photographer but based on the «vibe» of the place and the extent of their services (which is impressive), I’d say it’s geared towards professional more. I am not sure if there was some kind of miscommunication as to how I wanted the processing done but every time I dropped off medium format prints they came out like crap. I’m leaning towards my own ineptitude on this one but I think the staff working the counter (usually a young, sullen lady) could have been more helpful in helping me decide what kind of processing and paper I should use. The prices are in line with other similar labs. I probably won’t come back here to develop any film again as I think service is very important with this kind of thing where making helpful suggestions to customers can make all the difference in the world. If I ever needed film in a pinch, though, I would definitely stop in.

Loved the prices, the most reasonable amongst «professional labs.» However, they only use regular Kodak paper for your standard 4×6 35 mm development/​processing, which I find a bit flimsy.
When I went to drop off the film on Wednesday, the girl there was a bit snobby since I didn’t know all the lingo on developing/​processing and she got annoyed when I found out about their Thursday deal (when you drop off the film on Thursdays, you get double prints for free), so I asked if she could keep it until then and she gave me the nastiest look, I would have rather had her tell me to come back the next day.
Anyways, when I picked up the prints, the couple working that day were really sweet and helpful. I would definitely go back if they used a nicer paper.
I talked with someone else at a pro lab place (there are only 4 in MA recommended by Kodak) who said that this location catered more for the consumer (despite what that snobby girl claimed when I dropped off the film) than the pros, and thus the consumer-​grade paper.
So basically, if you don’t want to drop your film off for regular developing at a pharmacy, but don’t want to pay more than $ 20 to develop your film, and don’t mind regular Kodak paper, then come here (on Thursdays to get your free double prints).
