Love Cheeseboy! I’ve been getting sandwiches from there periodically for a few years now, and it’s consistently great. The people working there are always super friendly and fast — last time I was there the cashier complimented my hair, it’s funny how little things like that can instantly make your day better! If you’re going through South Station, definitely give them a try.

An excellent quick lunch. I eat here a few times each month and am always satisfied. I had the Cheese Boy Classic today and it was delicious. Melty, cheesey goodness prepared quickly. Very nice people staff this little restaurant in South Station, providing fast and courteous service. Recommended.

I did not know Boston MA for their grill cheese but I have to say that I will definitely be back

Excellent product. I’m partial to the Cheeseboy Classic with tomato. My only gripe is that they are not always open right on time and my train gets to the station where they are right when they are supposed to open. If the sandwiches weren’t so tasty, I wouldn’t care so much.

I think it may be worth taking the train to Boston just to get the special sirloin cheese boy! I stopped here while arriving in and departing from Boston and I was happy I made the decision. First, the staff was very friendly both times. Cashier was efficient and the handsome dude who made and delivered the sandwiches was on top of things! Second, the price is pretty reasonable. And third, this is a very delicious sandwich. The onions and peppers on it were fantastic and the sirloin was actually tender and flavorful. Next time I am in Boston, I will make a bee-line for Cheese Boy!

Ordered the veggie grilled cheese for a modest price. The chef recommended a light drizzle of chipotle sauce, which was divine. Fast service, tasty food, engaged employees, I’ll definitely be coming here whenever I commute.

I work near South Station, and this is my go-to place for a good breakfast sandwich. They make surprisingly fresh and heathy breakfast sandwiches — you wouldn’t think so from the fast food look and feel of the place! I’m a food snob, and I actually try to limit my dairy intake. However, Cheeseboy lets you make your own sandwiches and in the morning I get egg, spinach, and tomato(ok, and sometimes bacon) on multigrain bread. The egg is cage free and organic and made on the spot(unlike Starbucks, DD, etc in south station that microwave a pre-made egg), and the bread isn’t too thick. I rarely actually get cheese on my sandwich because it’s so satisfying without it. The customer service is also exceptionally good every time I’ve been there. I get the impression that the employees are happier and better treated than other fast food places nearby.

As a huge fan of grilled cheese and tomato soup, Cheeseboy is heaven for me. The classic sandwich and tomato soup were THE perfect comfort combo. I will stop here anytime I am near the South Station! Friendly staff as well.

Edit: Bumping up to three stars from two because their lunch team/menu is great(previously, I had only gone there for breakfast when I pass through South Station in the morning), and, after talking with the powers-that-be there, they’ve made some serious improvements to the way things are done during the breakfast shift. Still, I would avoid breakfast, but perhaps make a stop there for lunch, especially if the line is short. I love the steak sandwich with ranch dressing(I know, I’m a weirdo). So, four stars for lunch, two for breakfast. Overall, a «high three stars» Previous review: The sandwiches are decent, but so not worth it. I’ve been to Cheeseboy three times now — every time they’re out of something(coffee, sausage for breakfast sandwiches), they get my order wrong, the gas station-esque coffee dispenser is broken, and/or they ring me up wrong and overcharge me. I had a 20 minute wait once — it got so ridiculous, yes, I started keeping track of the time. Fortunately, I wasn’t in a big rush, or it would have been more infuriating than stupidly hilarious. They can’t be paying the employees more minimum wage — no one seems to have any idea what’s going on, what’s on the menu, can’t answer simple questions, have trouble working the register. Just… not quite playing with a full deck, or willing to. I do get an earful of the local high school(or whatever they’re in) gossip whenever I go, however. Added a star because the sandwiches are delicious, but come on – there are many other delicious sandwich places within a stone’s throw of this place in Downtown Boston that are way more reliable than this.

About 30 minutes before my bus was to depart, and this place was perfectly placed in South Station(you can’t avoid it as it’s in the middle of the terminal). I ordered a mini Buffalo Chicken sandwich(no tomato), and then waited on the opposite side of the counter. I could see them make the sandwich(quick hands!), as well as seeing them coat the bread in butter, add the fillings, and grill it up. In a few minutes, I had my sandwich in a nice, sturdy, cardboard box, which made carrying it to the bus station a breeze. It was hot, delicious, and perfectly sized(a mini seemed like it was on regular sized white bread). It was grilled well, and crispy, and the fillings didn’t automatically spill out with every bite. Definitely hitting up this place over the other chain restaurants in the terminal next time I’m there./

I ordered the breakfast classic with an extra egg on multigrain bread… $ 4.27 and absolutely delicious. Pipping hot, the cheese was perfectly melted and the eggs were fresh. Great way to start the day. Such an amazing addition to south station!

Whenever I’m waiting for the commuter rail or a bus, I definitely always go here for a quick snack. I get mine with Muenster and Rye with a cup of tomato soup and its perfect. Got the chocomelt a couple of time and it was really addicting. What’s «new»? Or new to me is the breakfast menu. WOW! The Farmhouse Melt was so fingerlicking good. It’s insane and I’m now obsessed. I didn’t know you can put egg in a grilled cheese and have it taste so delicious. People here are always nice. Never missed my ride because they’re really quick. Not always the same people but will always get a friendly smile.

Honestly, I was pleasantly surprised how good my sandwiches were. This was not my 1st time here, only my second, and I was happy both times. The 1st time I went, I didn’t eat my sandwich for about an hour later and it was still good, it was cold but good so that should tell you something about the quality. Speaking of the quality, do not assume that because this place is in a train station that the food is subpar. They really offer up high quality grilled cheese sandwiches, both filing and with premium ingredients. I am definitely going to go back now that I work right across the street. I almost forgot about this place. BTW I ordered the Chipotle Chicken… delicious.

Disappointed in the choco-melt sandwich. Cheese and nutella between slices of cinnamon swirl bread, sprinkled with sugar powder. The size was too small for a $ 4 sandwich. Not filling at all. The taste was great besides the slightly burnt bottom. Service was sub-par. No lines at around dinner time.

So I’ve got a new love and that’s Cheeseboy. Not particularly crazy about the Classic as I really have a hard time coming to grips with $ 4+ for 2 slice of bread and cheese. However, Cheeseboy starts with the basics and lets you build from there with a choice of 4 fresh veggie toppings and for an extra dollar will add a meat of your choice. There’s a couple of interesting menu items but I’m a big believer in going my own way. I order ham or turkey with anywhere from onions, peppers, basil and spinach. Although sometimes I think I just do it to trip up the cashiers. But they’re really good about confirming my order. Haven’t messed up yet. Also they do have different kinds of bread so even if you order one of their special sandwiches they have no problem with me switching out the italian bread for wheat. I leave a satisfied customer every time.

Despite being in a train station, this was one of the best grilled cheeses I’ve ever had and it was quick too! I like that I could build my own grilled cheese: rye bread, muenster, red peppers, bacon, spinach and tomato. It was without a doubt, a delicious sandwich and I really enjoyed it.

This meal was courtesy of National Volunteer Month and National Grilled Cheese Month, which both happen to be April. CheeseBoy gave away these little cards in appreciation of volunteers, each good for One Signature Sandwich(OR Make Your Own Grilled Cheese(up to 4 toppings)), and I happened to be one of the lucky recipients. Grilled Cheese Sandwiches are inherently comfort food, but is not known to be particularly healthy. I decided to punch mine up healthwise with a dose of veggies(tomato, basil, spinach, roasted red peppers) and had it done up with American on Multigrain. It was melty good, but a little wet — my fault! Or more so, probably the fault of the tomatoes. The cup of tomato soup($ 2.49 for the smaller regular) was pretty good too. But I have to say, my friend’s choice of Italian bread looked pretty good, and might have the be the route I go next time. Price — $ 3.79 for Make Your Own Option(although $ 2.99 for the Classic Italian & American Cheese, hmmm…). Toppings are additional — 49 cents per veggie, 99 cents per protein. Alternative Menu Site —

Oh man… How can you go wrong? Cheese, bread, avocado… tomato…bacon…almost any topping you can think of to go on a grilled cheese! A great stop before jumping on a train as they put the grilled cheese in a convenient little to-go box. The one thing is that it’s not exactly the fastest place to grab and go. I’ve noticed on a few occasions my sandwich will sit there before being grilled for some time before someone remembers they have to grill a grilled cheese. I totally understand cooking and melting time, but sometimes it’s much more than that. If you’re not in too much of a rush, it’s a definite go to!

Cheeseboy gets it right every time. I prefer the classic with bacon, personally. The staff here are prompt and courteous. Best grilled cheese I’ve found in Boston at a quite reasonable price! Addendum: I just tried the breakfast sandwiches and I have to say, not bad at all. Bacon egg and American on Italian was like a tasty breakfast panini. Yum!

$ 3 for a classic grilled cheese is a pretty solid deal. Adding another $ 3 for a cup of creamy, well-seasoned tomato soup and a fountain drink builds on said solid deal. — BUTWAIT — For 80c more, they’ll upgrade that plain ol’ American cheese to sharp Cabot cheddar, light Swiss, muenster or provolone. And you get your choice of bread beyond the basic Italian! — BUTWAIT — For another 49c you can have slathered on your sandwich either a massive, gloppy pile of jalapenos, or a petty, weak sprinkling of jalapenos. Don’t like jalapenos? They have other veggies too, but you should really learn to like jalapenos. Quantity varies employee to employee. All rights reserved. — BUTWAIT — For another 99c, they’ll protein up that namesake sandwich with ham, turkey, pepperoni or bacon, thus making it not a grilled cheese but a panini, thus rendering it the same thing every other stand in South Station offers. Ooooh fancy. — BUTWAIT — You can level up that questionable fountain drink for a bottle soda from the chill chest. They may say it’s included in the combo, but it’s really 70c more. The end result is a golden brown, great tasting sandwich/soup combo for a measly $ 6. — BUTWAIT — It’s actually $ 9.39. Still an easily repeatable under-$ 10 lunch, but the nickel&dime menu, a carb-favoring bread to filling ratio and excessive packaging(a heavy gauge cardboard box for a grilled cheese? The planet weeps!) means rounding slightly down on a 3.5 star joint.
