We specialize in authentic Italian pastries, coffees and sandwiches. We try to bring to our establishment a little taste if Italy. We only serve the best.

We also have other selections such as, beer, wine, cordials, salads, pizza’s and a variety of Italian specialty drinks.

Don’t forget, we also serve fresh croisants in the morning, have it served in any way. Along with biscotti, muffins and danishes.

Also keep in mind that we NEVER CLOSE! We are opening 365 days out of the year and every major holiday.

Caffé Dello Sport: Just the name itself is a guarantee for the quality we have been able to maintain during all these years since we have founded our establishment. We are the one true and unique bar with an authentic taste for espresso. Founded by a group of Italians more than sixty years ago, we were able to conserve the genuine taste of our product and uphold the name of this fine business. On top of everything, we have been able to maintain that Italian atmosphere which reflects back on our beautiful homeland.

Business Owner

Angelo Cattaneo, born in Bergamo, Italy came to this country and resided in Boston in the 1960’s. In the early 90’s Angelo took over Caffe Dello Sport, a business that has now been around for over 60 years. In these years Angelo has tried to maintain that authentic Italian atmosphere and taste of his coffee as well as trying to entertain his customers with the latest soccer action.

Current manager and son in law Michael Spencer tries to uphold Caffe Dello Sport’s popularity as well as bring in different products from all over Italy.

The pros? The tiramisu is delicious (I haven’t tried sandwiches, but they get bonus points for naming everything after Italian soccer greats), and they show Serie A matches here, so it’s a fun place to watch your favorite Italian soccer teams. Great, local atmosphere here for big matches. The staff is nice and the atmosphere is relaxed.
The cons? Service can be slow because there’s really no sense to the place, and there’s only been only one overwhelmed waitress to serve a ton of people each time we’ve patronized Caffe Dello Sport. You need to be fairly aggressive to get her attention, or simply go up to the counter and order. It’s also cash-​only, so come prepared or use the ATM in the back. Also, the lone unisex bathroom isn’t always the cleanest, and you’re bound to need to use it if you’re there watching soccer for a few hours.
Overall, in the North End, where there are a lot of fantastic options for food, drinks, dessert, etc., it’s hard to rate Caffe Dello Sport highly in those areas, but the service is nice (when you can get it) and the desserts that I’ve tried are good. It’s basically a mixed bag, but highly recommended if you’re a fan of Italian soccer and are stopping in to catch a match.

This is our favorite place place for cannoli in town. Best cannoli for $ 3.25! It’s a sports bar with great desserts and coffee. We have never eaten here but we always stop by for cannolis. They only take cash and they do have an ATM in case you need some. This place seems like a regular hangout joint for locals, which is great.

Went to Caffe Dello Sport to meet up with a group of people. Service was prompt but had to track down the server to pay our bill. Coffee was good. Bathroom was scary. There were some local young adults who seemed to have too many beers in them as they proceeded to tell an employee that they were drunk and wanted know how to say it in Italian. All in all I would go back as an alternative to the busy touristy areas on Hanover Street.

When disrespect meets respect this is the place to be. Came here for coffee and it’s legit. Price is fair. Environment is relaxed so you can open up the Wall Street journal and reads what’s goi g on in the world. Intense

So grateful they were open on Thanksgiving. Visiting Boston from New York. Very nice and cozy. Waitress was helpful. Food was ok, portions were small and lackluster. Sandwiches while adequate for lunch could have used some seasoning for flavor. Order seemed to take long to prepare for what we ordered. Outside of the atmosphere I would probably skip this one

Good selection of alcoholic beverages as well as coffee. The cappuccino here is a favorite of mine. I like the café atmosphere and they have TV’s if you want to catch the game. If you’re craving something sweet they have a nice selection of desserts and gelato.
It seems understaffed so service can be slow and also a bit rude depending on how busy things are.

Amazing! Highly recommend. Chocolate gelato was super tasty. Cappuccinos were perfect (ad a bit of sugar from the shaker on the table, if you wish) cookies were delicious and offered to us for free from the friendly staff! Based on location and taste, price is reasonable and actually a bit low. Great place for desert or after meal coffee/​drink.

When we initially walked it we thought it was just another neighborhood hangout bar w coffee. Then I ordered and drank the most delicious latte in my life. That’s saying A LOT people!!! I’ve had lattes all over the country to include Seattle and this ranks on top.
The ambiance is genuine and relaxing. If you’re looking for something fancy or resembles a Starbucks, then don’t go here. I can’t speak for the pastries or any other food but the coffee is top notch.

Adding an update because I finally made it back here to try the food. On a snowy Tuesday afternoon it was pretty quiet for the first hour. I was the only one in their besides the waitstaff which was actually nice because I was taking advantage of the free wifi and quiet atmosphere to get some work done. It started picked up around 1:30 PM, still not busy but definitely more lively. Customers were loud and interacting with each other while watching the big flat screen TV on the wall. It was pretty entertaining. Mainly elderly locals hanging out over a cup of coffee.
I ordered the Del Piero panini which had mortadella, salami, sharp provolone, tomatoes, hot peppers, basil, and olive oil. It was awesome! Toasty bread and simple but delicious combination of ingredients. Decent size and quality for $ 8. Cash only but they have an ATM inside.

Great simple place for an espresso or a mixed drink! Wonderful sweets and desserts too! That massive tv in the place is a bit dominating, but with all the old Italian guys chattering, the atmosphere is pretty laid back.

I committed an Italian sin.
I ordered a cappuccino and it was already noon time. Oopsie! =/​to my defense, I had a cannoli in my hot hands from Mike’s Pastry and it would’ve been weird to pair with anything else, but a cappuccino.
I love sitting down in my little corner looking out the window and people watching. The two Italians next to me kept eyeing my cannoli, I knew they were jealous! This no frills, super casual café is true to their Italian roots with much love for Balotelli and the whole squad. Oh, the gruff looking barista? he’s a big softie!

Pizza (I’m from NJ): C, could buy a frozen pizza like that in the grocery store. Tomato mozzarella basil salad: C-​, dried basil, crostini???, tomatoes weren’t fresh. The food isn’t offensive but it’s not that good. I would not go back.

Hanover street has a plethora of bakeries, gelaterias, and Italian restaurants. After buying a small box of cannoli (to go) at Mike’s we decided to stop in here for coffee. Besides one other table in the back this place is EMPTY. Annoying music was blaring and it smelled like they attempt to wash the floors in vinegar. My wife and daughter sit down at a table while I go to order coffee. Before I could complete my coffee order an extremely rude man says «I can no serve you. you bring pastry. I have pastry.» Then points to a dirty bug infested case of what is obviously desserts purchased from a grocery store. Simply because my wife was holding an UNOPENED box from Mike’s.
Why would you ever turn away business of any kind? Especially when your «café» is empty??? That is like Macy’s not selling me a shirt because I bought a pair of pants at the Gap.
We simply walked to another café less than a block away who happily took my money. This place has bad business policies, rude employees, and severe delusions of grandeur. Stay away. Less than one star (if I could).

I am giving Café dello Sport 4 stars for their atmosphere. This appears to still be a neighborhood hangout, still populated by elderly Italian men watching soccer. A nice taste of the old North End!
I have eaten here and was not so impressed with the food. Just come to drink, or drink coffee and enjoy !

If you’re in the North End and want a place to have a quick coffee and sit down, you should visit this place.
It’s not too crowded and there are always some open tables.
Good consistent coffee and nice service. (it’s also a nice place to catch up on a sports game)
They also have Italian sodas, little cookies, and cannolis and cakes.

Our waitress, Aurora, was sweet and very attentive. She is detail oriented and got everything we ordered spot on. Last week the service here w another waitress was also spot on. The dining rom is kept clean and ready. The food was delicious and also served as ordered, right down to the small details.
