History
Established in 1925.
Colombian Professor Miguel Peña, an enthusiastic English teacher and colleague of the famous Professor Berlitz, founded BSML in 1925. The school was sold to Bryant and Stratton Business College in 1966. A teacher at the school, Ute De Marco von Haller bought the school in 1972 and moved it after 10 years from downtown Boston to its current location in Roslindale. She believed that the large private building, coupled with the availability of nearby, neighborhood-style American family housing, provided the best combination to meet the needs of international students. BSML emerged as one of the leading private ESL schools in North America. Prior to Mrs. von Haller’s death in 2011, she agreed to sell the school to the Director, Thomas Smith. On September 2, 2014 Mr. Smith agreed to sell the school to the Director of IT, Liliana Ruiz and to the Director of Marketing, Sandra Vasquez who plan to focus on strengthening the school’s financial, academic and technology infrastructure.
