KUNG FU Classes: True Ip Man lineage now in Boston

Ving Tsun (pronounced wing chun) Kung Fu was named after a Buddhist nun hundreds of years ago, and made famous by Bruce Lee.

We are very intentional in maintaining the ultra traditional, pure system of training and teaching that has been passed down through the generations. Classes are open to the public, with ongoing enrollment for adults.

Many martial arts rely on power that is based on muscular strength, so a larger opponent can overpower a smaller practitioner with size and strength. Traditional Ving Tsun is quite different, being based on Relaxation, Centerline, and Efficiency of motion. It is highly effective, regardless of strength or stature, and results can be felt in a relatively short period of time. The multitude and depth of benefits beyond serious self-​defense can impact all aspects of life.

History

Established in 2013.

Lineage is important… It is how we track the ancestry of our Kung Fu family tree, and is how we authenticate the roots of what we train. Our lineage is passed down by subsequent generations of Sifus (teachers/​masters).

Here at Boston Kung Fu, we are of the Moy Tung Branch of the Moy Yat Family. The late Grandmaster Moy Yat was a senior direct student Ip Man, in Hong Kong. After establishing himself as a top Sifu in Hong Kong, Moy Yat moved to NYC and taught the genuine system of Ving Tsun Kung Fu here in the US. Moy Tung was a senior direct student of Moy Yat, and is the living grandmaster of our lineage. From Ip Man we can track our direct lineage all the way back to Ving Tsun herself.

The family analogy is prevalent, from our ‘family style’ class format, to the way our family schools from around the country are connected and come together for training events.

Sifu David C.

Business Owner

Sifu David is a close and direct student of Moy Yat Tung, and a close and direct grandstudent of Grandmaster Moy Tung. Training since the 1990s, he is a member of the ICC and MY4 Associations, respectively.

He has been teaching for many years, and has recently opened the first Ip Man lineage Kung Fu school in Boston.
