Boston Beer Works

Ordered the half chicken for dinner — the food was great. Chicken is little under-​seasoned but mashed potato is salty so it balanced out. But portion is very small, and I don’t even eat much so for a guy it’s definitely not enough food even if you order their entrée.

Came in for a late night beer after work and had a great experience. A server Chelsea was so friendly and showed me to the bar where Aaron took great care of me and helped me find just the beer I was looking for. Couldn’t have asked for a better night!

We went after the Celtics game at the Garden. We all got drinks, mostly beer. I got the Grinch which was festive but the sour apple pucker dominated the drink. I got the ultimate burger which was delicious with Brie and garlic aioli. It was a bit messy but very filling. My husband got the boneless wings. They were a little dry but he enjoyed the honey hot sauce and they came with a huge bowl of blue cheese dressing.
We were very interested in a peppermint ice cream sandwich but their dessert fridge had broken so they didn’t have any desserts available.
There was no wait but after the game the place filled up so the service was a little delayed but not too bad

One of the labs at Harvard Medical School that I work with, invited me to their Christmas party there. I was really surprised at all the great beers that they offered. The food was good (not great but good) but this review is really about the tasty beer.
Everyone there seemed to enjoy their beer and their food. I bet you will too!

Ugghhh… I didn’t have high hopes when I came to this place and my expectations were not let down. If I was by myself I would have ventured elsewhere, but this place was chosen out of convenience (proximity to Fenway) and my friend had his 8 yr old son with him. You walk in it has a Yard House, Buffalo Wild Wings vibe. Pedestrian food served to the masses who are more concerned with the beer selection and LED TV’s than the food. After perusing the menu I got the fish and chips figuring I’m on the flippin coast, this should be better than average. Let me say if I was in New Mexico I would feel this was pretty good but being that I’m a few miles away from the Atlantic ocean I had a little higher expectations. The tartar sauce was way too thin, the breading on the fish was bland, and just overall very under whelming.
Bottom Line: You’re in Boston, there are dozens of places better than this.

Nothing to really rave about here, decent food and decent service. The waitress was great and did not rush my sister and I. That was a huge plus since sometimes when you and your guests are chatting the server seems to rush you along, but it was nice that we were able to chat without the pressure. One HUGE turn off was how the hostess that sat me was dressed. A bright orange zip up hoodie and slippers (moccasin style that can be worn outside) insanely unprofessional. No one else in the establishment was dressed in this way and not to mention the safety issue of not wearing non-​slip shoes working in a restaurant setting is bad news. I didn’t really understand why no one else working was so casual and this young woman looked like she was ready to curl up and watch movie on her couch. We were both pleased with our food and I am happy I asked for the coleslaw on the side on my pastrami sandwich, I was not a fan of it at all. It was very citrusy and had a funny taste, really not pleased with that. But I didn’t need to eat it so all is well with that. Over all an okay experience, but please, have your host dress a bit more presentable.

This place is incredible, and beyond reasonably priced! The pumpkin works beer is delicious, served with cinnamon sugar around the rim! We had the mashed potato spring rolls and the beer dough bites for appetizers, both were to die for. The ribs that came with mashed potatoes, green beans and corn bread was so fresh and delicious! We ended with the apple strudel with coffee iced cream. All of that ran us about $ 70. Can’t beat that for a Saturday night in Boston!

This is a stop we make frequently when seeing a show at the House of Blues. They brew their own beer right at the restaurant and they have a huge variety of tasty brews. The food is always great and they have lots of seasonal options. We were in a bit of a time crunch last time we came here and they were very helpful in getting us our food fast and getting us out the door quickly. There is also a cheap parking lot right next door that is $ 10 for the night instead of some of the pricier lots closer to Fenway. I would recommend this place to anyone grabbing a bite before a game or a show!

Probably more of a 2.5 stars, but I can’t give them 3. I always… and I mean always stop into Boston Beer Works for a pregame beer or two since they are located adjacent to Fenway Park. I usually go to a few games a year so I know Beer Works quite well.
The beer… well, you can’t go wrong. They gave a great selection of drafts and their Bunker Hill Blueberry is filled with a fistful of blueberries. Yum!!! Now if only their kitchen folks showed the same love to the nachos as they did the beer. We ordered the full side of nachos and decided to take it up a notch and add chili to it. Ummm… bad idea. 5 days later and I’m still mining for that chili. They must teaspoon size serving spoons back there. I I guess Beer Works decided this was the day that I should officially become a vegetarian…“no meat for you!“
Still a great stop for some pregame beers, but I will pass on the bar grub next time…

I have been here a few times now, usually I just enjoy the beer. They have a huge selection! (They were out of at least 3 that day). We were hungry after a long drive, so we ordered the chili nachos. We kept digging and digging and I found a few tomatoes, a few beans, maybe a little hamburger? Ummm this is not chili! I would recommend ordering the chicken and hopefully they will remember the meat?
The service was ok… It was really busy which is not the waitresses fault. I would suggest adding a few more servers. They were out of coasters, so she ripped a napkin in half? Why not use a whole napkin?
I will be honest I will still enjoy a beer here as the location is across the street from Yawkey way… However I will pass on the grub.

The food: The typical bar/​pub grub you’d expect. The beer: A solid selection, freshly brewed (on premises, I think). Not winning many craft beer awards, but perfectly fine when you’re thirsty before a Red Sox game or concert at Fenway. And that’s mainly the reason you eat/​drink here… because you’re going to Fenway, which is right across the street. If you’re looking for a convenient bite before the game, this is one of your best bets, if you can beat the crowds. It’s become a Fenway tradition at this point.

Amazing beer selection! I loved that the chalkboard of Beer Works beers showed the color of the beer. Their blueberry beer was pretty good, but not as good as Wassachusetts.
Very friendly and usually attentive service.
It’s amazing how big this is and nice to see that it doesn’t get mobbed after a night game at Fenway!

This was The lady and I met up with an old friend here for a quick lunch. It’s a sports bar-​y place, nothing really touting the fact that they have popular or innovative beer (yes, this place is a brewery too), which in today’s craft scene, is necessary to differentiate yourself.
The menu was pretty diverse! Lots of good options for people looking for a quick bite. Service was good and food was decent as well.
It was probably a 3.5 star experience, but just because it was dead inside (Monday lunch, I get it) and not super memorable. But I’d go back!

I wish that when I checked the area for restaurants on Unilocal I didn’t rush and actually read some of the recent reviews instead of just looking at the overall star rating! BIG mistake.
I would not recommend anyone coming here other than to get a beer. I am not a beer fan so I didn’t try any of them but did have the mango sangria which was good but came out in what would be considered a tiny glass for sangria.
The waitress highly recommended the fish and chips saying that they have the best fish. Well I don’t know what kind of fish she prefers but the fish came out as an extremely thin piece that had no flavor at all. The coleslaw tasted off and had an almost fennel taste. The fries were the only good part. The aioli that came with it instead of tartar sauce had no flavor.
My friend had the pastrami sandwich which she said she enjoyed except for it being incredibly greasy.
The bathrooms were nasty and the bottles of soap had been refilled with water — isn’t that a nasty healthcode violation?
I know that there were like 500 people waiting to get in here and just masses of people everywhere — but if you have a restaurant in this area you should be able to handle the flow and keep up your quality at the same time.

I went here before a tour at Fenway park. We went in and were seated. There were a LOT of empty tables. We ordered an iced tea and a lemonade. We also ordered an appetizer, the BBQ chicken wings. Service was real slow but they were somewhat friendly. We got the chicken and it was not good. The sauce was okay but the chicken was extra tough and did not taste fresh at all. We decided that we would eat elsewhere at that point and asked for the check. We got the check we noticed that we had been charged for 4 drinks at $ 3.00 a piece instead of 2. We asked the server about this and the reply we got took me surprise. when we asked her about it she was pretty rude and told us that the refills were not free.
While we were waiting for our food the server had came over to our table and offered to refill our drinks. When we asked her about this we told her that she never told us we would be charged again for the refills. She said that her manager had instructed them NOT to tell guests that there would be another charge. I told her that on the menu it said that there were free refills. She said that it did not include the drinks we got, (iced tea and lemonade). I feel that this is a VERY deceptive practice. Our bill was $ 22.00 for the 2 drinks and the appetizer.
I would NOT recommend this place based on their treatment of guests, the quality of the food, and the dishonesty.
Businesses like this should be closed down.

The food here was great. The wait wasn’t long. The staff were very friendly and accommodating with us splitting our bill. Located across the street from Fenway Park on Landsdowne St.
Ordered a grilled chicken sandwich. And the sweet potato fries came with this amazing cranberry dipping sauce. It may sound a little offputting… But believe me… It’s amazing. Recommended.

I stopped into Boston beer Works with some friends tonight; they’ve got a great new feature that not many other bars have. They need to push it as their special niche, so here are some suggested slogans:
Boston Beer Works: come for the beer, stay for the maggots!
Boston Beer Works: the maggots are free, but the beers are not!
Boston Beer Works: our service is slow, but at least the bartender and the manager will both look at you exasperatedly, and then condescendingly ask if you really insist on being moved away from the maggots that are crawling all over the bar and your menu, and then still try to charge you for the food that you decided not to eat after seeing the maggots.
Boston Beer Works: even after you leave because you don’t feel like sitting at the maggot bar, we pledge to keep seating people at the same seats after you leave without so much as cleaning the area, because this is our specialty and this is what we do.
But seriously, even on the best of days, the beer and food here is only average. I would avoid this place.

Stopped by for a beer before the game and this place was packed! We were able to squeeze through and get a beer. All made in house I grabbed myself their blueberry beer that was nothing less than yummy.
Since it was so packed we really couldn’t grab food before the game so after the game was done we were able to beat the crowd and grab a table.
We had two orders of wings, don’t judge and they were pretty good. The service was just okay but it wasn’t like we really needed them to be so attentive. Prices were decent, beer was great. What else can you really ask for.

I can’t really complain about Boston beer Works because the food has always been great and their selection of beer always worth trying out new options each time I go in.
The last time I was at this location I had a burger with homemade potato chips. The hamburger came perfectly cooked to the medium that I like, the veggies all look like they were cut prior to putting on the burger, and the overall presentation look great.
While I was sitting there for lunch they lost their cable due to an area outage but the quick thinking of the bartender plug their iPhone into the system and used Pandora to provide at least some background music for all the patrons to enjoy. I applaud them for their quick cents in entertaining their customers during their dining experience.

Went there Friday night with some friends to just hang out. The location on Canal street was empty but was hard to find parking so decided to risk it to the fenway location.
Parked at the $ 10.00 parking lot right next to it and were seated immediately. This fenway location is much bigger in space and did not have to wait. The menu is standard apps and burgers and sandwich with some BBQ items and some pasta items.
Since today was friday night they had the PU-​PU Platter special. WE decided to order that and the food we got for the $ 20.00 platter was amazing except that the onion strings were burnt but they replaced it with no problem. the platter came with Onion strings, pretzel dough bites, buffalo tenders, fried pickles, spring rolls with mashed potatoes and bacon and nachos with sour cream, guac and salsa fresco along with some 3 dipping sauces. Friends also ordered a beer sampler and then couple pitchers of blueberry beer which was very nice.
For dinner we only got couple stuff like mushroom raviolis with grilled chicken and sage butter sauce and custom topping pizza from App menu. Both were pretty good.
overall the place is good hangout place with friends. The prices are very decent for being right next to fenway and food good. WE felt bad afterwards for one thing that since the bill was equally distributed the calculation of tip came off a little and we underpaid the server by about 4 – 5 bucks with our dumb calculations (food coma). will def make it up next time for the good service.

A few different friends insisted that a visit to Boston Beer Works was necessary ahead of my trip. I really wanted to go for lunch, but as it turned out, I had just eaten when there was time available to stop in, so this is a beer-​only review.
We took the trolley (I’m not kidding) from our hotel to Fenway. Have your laughs. After walking around the outside of the stadium, we made our way to BBW. Since it wasn’t a game day, the place was fairly empty. There were only a couple other people there.
First, I ordered a pint of the Fenway American Pale Ale — being inspired by the location. It was okay, but not my favorite. After finishing it, I wanted to try more, so I ordered a flight. Bunker Hill Blueberry was first. I wasn’t too enamored with this brew either. It had blueberries in it, and I guess people like that. I didn’t, really, even though I’m a big blueberry fan.
My favorite of the bunch was next: the Boston Garden Golden Ale. Definitely more my style. It went down easily. After that was the Paul Revere Rye IPA. This was okay. I wouldn’t order it again, but I’m glad I tried it. Last was the Old Ironsides English Old Ale. This was a dark brew and I wasn’t feeling it.
So, really, I was most impressed with the Garden out of the five I tried, and I would definitely go for that one if I return in the future. And I hope I do! I’d really like to try their food.
