Atom Moving

Quick update: A few days after I posted my review, I received a voicemail from the owner/​manager (?) saying he wanted to check in with me and see if I received all my stuff. A few days later, I called back and got their voicemail. I left a message that I did receive the missing items, but that I was unhappy with the move– not only with the delay in receiving my items, but also that it felt like every little thing that could have gone wrong along the way, did. And if they’d like to discuss it, to call me back. It’s been 2 weeks since I left the message and I haven’t heard back.

I used Atom Movers for my move from Boston to Chicago and the experience was fantastic. Alan, the owner, was incredibly responsive and he has a great group of people. The movers were very quick and efficient — 4 guys came to pick up my stuff and in one hour, they had everything expertly wrapped, labeled with my name and move number, on the truck and itemized on a list (they kept a copy, I kept a copy). My things were then stored in Boston for a week and arrived in Chicago almost on time (one day after my delivery window… but I guess that sort of comes with the territory in long distance moves) and in perfect condition.
After experiencing and hearing many moving horror stories, my experience with Atom was a welcome change. I would recommend them to anyone moving within or out of Boston. Very fair prices, very professional and you can trust your stuff will be well taken care of!

The movers themselves were good. Pretty fast, efficient, and reliable. But, much like many other reviewers, I found the process frustrating and I wouldn’t recommend using this company.
I booked for a 10 am to 12 pm slot. The cost was $ 200 per hour for 3 movers. Many other moving companies quoted me $ 160 per hour for 3 movers for a 12 pm to 2 pm slot. But I needed to move early so I went with Atom even though it was more expensive. I confirmed the move time one week before the move and the day before the move.
I end up having to call them multiple times throughout the morning of the move, and was met with non-​responsive answers and misinformation. Ultimately the movers showed up at 1:15 pm. If I had know that, I would have used another company and saved $ 120 ($ 40 per hour x 3 hours of moving).
I contacted the manager/​owner about this issue after the fact and never heard back. Very disappointing.

These guys are amazing i moved 4 times with them in the past 2 years. Professional, quick, they moved furniture in and out of hallways and corners i did not think possible. Amazing, never took a break, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!1
Unfortunately couldnt reach them the last time, and ended up with the worst movers from HELL — ANTONS MOVERS — never USE THEM!!!
The move was terrible, very very long, many pieces were damaged, and then to top it all off, I spent almost 12 hours fixing up all the holes, dents and floor scratches in the rented apartment i moved out of. Maybe this money should be deducted from Antons movers and not my security deposit.

Atom Moving fulfills what you always expect but never get from a moving company. They were professional, thoughtful, caring, and incredibly patient. If I were to do it all over again, I would do it with them!
I had a complicated move from Boston to North Carolina with multiple family heirlooms of Chinese antiques and an extremely limited delivery date window. Thankfully, it all worked out without a hitch and I couldn’t be happier. Out of all of the companies that came for a visual estimate, the interstate moving specialist, Nir, at Atom Moving was by far the most understanding of the item’s sentimental value and fragility. The movers stayed in close contact in the months prior to the pickup date and completed the packing and pickup in half the time that I thought they would. The antiques were also incredibly well-​padded and made it to NC without a scratch. Most importantly, they were upfront and honest with cost, fees, and paperwork so that there was nothing unexpected during the entire moving process. Every detail was explained in advance so both they and I could do what was needed to make everything go smoothly.
This was really a fantastic experience with Atom Moving, worth every penny, and without the nightmarish stress that I hear about so often.

After shopping around to find the best deal for movers, we settled on Atom because the pricing was decent and they were available at a good time for us.
They were great! The movers kept us updated– letting us know the day before that they had to move the arrival time back a bit because the earlier move was expected to take longer than scheduled. The day of the move, they also called a few times to let us know their status and what time we should expect them. They moved everything quickly and efficiently and did a phenomenal job. They even took apart and put my bed back together.
The reason I’m giving this company 4 stars instead of 5 is because of a few money-​related issues. Our quote was for 3 hours as they have a three hour minimum, but our move took slightly less than 2 hours. The representative wasn’t particularly clear about this policy– she told us it should only take two hours but didn’t specifically tell us we would be charged for 3 hours no matter what. There were also a few random charges at the end for tape and other materials (though we did not use any of their boxes, but certainly used tape). This wasn’t a big deal, but I just wasn’t expecting additional charges at the end.
Altogether a great moving company that comes highly recommended.

i’m torn between 2 and 3 stars…
i hired atom moving for my boston to providence move. they gave me the cheapest quote (around $ 500) and when compared to the up to $ 1200 quotes i was getting, atom won!
sivan was very nice on the phone and took care of the whole booking process. i had heard in advance from my boyfriend that THEY DO CHARGE FOR TAPE AND THE BAGS TO PUT MATTRESS IN. so i was prepared and bought my own tape. no problems. no issues.
come the day of my move. i was told they would be there at 8am. 8am comes and goes. i’m still sitting there waiting thinking maybe they got the day wrong. i call atom close to 9am (i had to give them a little time… this is boston during rush hour). turns out the truck went to providence first and now were on their way to me from there. they shouldn’t be long. the guy in the truck then calls me to say he’ll be there in 10 minutes. i sigh. say okay. after all there is nothing i can do.
30 minutes passes. i call atom again because now i have been inconvenienced, people in providence waiting for me will be inconvenienced, and i’m pissed so what sort of compensation for my troubles can they offer me. the girl on the phone apologizes and assures me the owner will call me once he is in the office. fine. i call the guy on the truck who tells me very soon. at 9:45 they arrive an hour and 45 minutes late. however, the 2 guys do a lickety spilit job moving my stuff into the truck. they haul ass to be blunt. i imagine they are now late for other moves too.
so they come, drop my stuff off in providence. while on the ride down i spoke to the owner nir. he was annoyed to put it politely. borderline rude. however, i was only going to ask for the $ 30 travel fee to be refunded. i didn’t even get to that as he offered a $ 50 gift certificate to (almost) any restaurant of my choosing. $ 50 is more than $ 30 and i took it.
so, what can i say? obviously some one at atom is disorganized enough for this mix up to happen in the first place. nir has a slight attitude problem. however, i was reimbursed. could have been much worse, but could have been much better.

I’d definitely recommend this moving company. The owner, Nir, is a great guy and this is a family owned and operated business. They are all hard working, honest, friendly, and fair.

As if moving isn’t stressful enough. Finding and trusting a mover is a horror story waiting to happen. Yay! There’s a mover out there that you can believe, is exceptionally responsive, and offers unexpectedly good value.
I used Atom for a recent interstate move. Having done this more than once before I knew what to look for upfront. I told Ariel, my salesperson, that our goal was to make sure there were no surprises on moving day — mostly the bill. He didn’t want it either.
So I kept revising the inventory when I could see there would be a change, and he kept re-​estimating in no time. I realized that Atom has all their pricing streamlined in a database. It made re-​pricing easy, but more importantly it meant that the costs were consistent. Translation: they weren’t squeezing me for what they could.
When the move came, my account was transferred seamlessly to Nir who was responsible for the move. The movers arrived when they said they would. They did their job without incident. I signed the paperwork with the final price, which was exact. Between steps Nir would call to coordinate and then would follow-​up with an email to confirm.
There were a couple small glitches. Although the foreman was helpful, competent, and experienced, he was not fluent in English. So sometimes it was hard to communicate details. Then we had a little bit trouble one day coordinating with the movers for the final delivery. They got there, were kind, and got the job done. Atom followed up the move with a customer service call from Nir — not a gratuitous hourly without authority. He went the extra mile to make up for my small inconveniences.
At the end of the day what matters is being able to work with your mover in good faith and to get all your things safely on the other side. I recommend Atom because they have smart people and a system that works.
* Moving Tips: 1) «No surprises» is a 2-​way street with any mover; 2) Always overestimate what you expect to move, because what you move is always more than you expect; 3) Don’t assume the numbers will be exact, but it should be within reason if you moved what you said you would.
