We had a fabulous brunch/lunch here a few weekends ago — LOVE this place! The oysters were so fresh and went perfectly with a glass of Sancerre — they have two sizes of wine glasses available, which we liked. We also ordered eggs benedict and a steak — both were exceptional. The service here really is some of the best I’ve experienced in Boston. Attentive and quick but not rushed. Highly recommended!

Whenever I am in Boston visiting my brother I always stop here for their clam chowder. The location is very convenient located just across from Prudential Tower. This is one of the best clam chowders ever and to be honest I was surprised! The employees are polite and attentive. The décor is simple yet casually elegant if that makes sense. Good place for lunch with friends or a date. They had this flourless chocolate cake that was so crazy delicious and for some odd reason they took this odd their menu!!! Bring this back! I haven’t tried anything else on the menu so I can’t offer much help there.

The food here is enjoyable, but for the price, I expect a bit more in terms of the flavor. We had a lobster bisque for a starter, which had some nice chunks of lobster in it and had a decent but not awe-inspiring flavor. We split a lobster roll and a crab crusted haddock. Both dishes were solid, neither really stood out. The bin on the lobster roll was fairly tasteless though the lobster was pretty good. Service was nice but on the slow side.

My dad and I came here for a weekday dinner; as it’s a restaurant on Boylston, I had pretty low expectations of it. Considering the price, it’s not really anything too fancy(presentation-wise), but the food is great. We started off with the bacon-wrapped scallops with maple mustard sauce($ 16); these were pretty good but not amazing. For the entrée, I recommend going for today’s fresh catch(they have a list), which is available grilled, broiled, fried, pan-seared, blackened or baked with garlic breadcrumbs and is served with choice of two sides. I went with the Chilean Sea Bass($ 38) and opted for it blackened, per our server’s recommendation. I got the pan-seared Brussels sprouts and roasted sweet potatoes. Like I said before, the presentation is not pretty at all, but it is a very hearty portion of food. The Brussels were rather oily, but cooked well; I liked the sweet potatoes as well. The fish itself was pretty big, which is good considering the price. I do prefer salmon or another fattier fish, but for what it was, it was good. I’m glad I went with the blackened cook, as it is more flavorful, as the server said. For dessert, we shared the Peppermint Ice Cream Pie($ 7, chocolate cookie crust, chocolate ganache). This was also recommended by our server. I’ve always been a fan of mint ice cream, but was rather wary of it in pie form. When it came, it was way larger than I’d expected. Not a bad thing, because it was absolutely delicious. The ice cream was rich and minty without tasting like toothpaste; it had a chocolate shell(the chocolate ganache) that went with it perfectly. It’s a rather heavy dessert, so if you’re not very hungry, I’d split this with several people.

Meh. The food was good but the service was brusque to the point of being rude. The young woman who was our server definitely did not have the kind of professionalism I would expect in a fine dining, expensive establishment. She actually interrupted me while I was ordering my drink. The food also took forever to arrive. I would not bother to return. I also notice that most of the reviews that are«not recommended» are one star reviews, which is certainly nice for the restaurant . For anyone who uses a wheelchair or has difficulty with stairs, please note that the bathrooms are downstairs and they have no elevators. You have to go next door to Abe & Louie’s to use the bathroom. In fact, why not just go to Abe & Louie’s to eat? It’s a wonderful restaurant!

We asked for an outside seat and we were told it would take about 45 minutes but then again they got us seated right away so it only took us about 15 minutes. The restaurant’s atmosphere is a curious blend of fancy and casual, and the wait staffs were professional and astute. THEFOOD– I was very disappointed with the tough textured Lobster entrée dish on my visit. The roasted chicken that came with the delicious asparagus and morels turned out to be slightly underwhelming, as the meat was surprisingly on the tougher side The steak was a little overcooked for a medium order but turned out to be the highlight of the meal. — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — Maine lobster 1 ¼th lbs $ 38.00(served with corn on the cob and potatos(with additional baked & stuffed with crab meat stuffing $ 11) New York strip steak 14 oz $ 34.00(baked potato and asparagus with cabaret sauce)

Everything about this restaurant is perfect. Went here while visiting a few friends in Boston. Made reservations for a Friday night at around 8 and the place was packed. We were seated outside which was super nice considering the weather was perfect. From the service to the ambiance, this restaurant was exceptional. For appetizers, we ordered the fried calamari. It was cooked perfectly and the marinara sauce was delicious. For the main entrée, I ordered the Captains Platter. Unfortunately I overestimated my hunger for fried food and didn’t really finish. However, it was absolutely delicious. I highly recommend this spot if you’re looking for tasty seafood and a romantic setting.

Pros: The atmosphere here is good, which makes it a great date spot. There are seats outside to enjoy a nice day. The bread is delicious and you get two types — one of which has whole raisins and almonds in it and both breads are hot with a delicious crunchy crust and super soft in the middle. Cons: the person answering the phone is condescending, which is rude and unprofessional. The food took just a bit longer than it should have to arrive on a slow day. Service was slightly apathetic. I had the swordfish, which was drastically overcooked to the point of dryness. Not tender at all. The portion was tiny, which is unusual for an American restaurant and unacceptable for the price and subpar quality of the food. The corn pudding was flavorless and made with no love. The steamed spinach was steamed spinach. I left hungry. Not sure why the #1 listing on Unilocal for seafood in Boston — I regularly have better seafood in manhattan, which is embarrassing as it should be much better up here. I won’t be back to this establishment as nothing happened during my lunch in terms of service or cuisine to merit another visit.

I came here with my parents for my graduation dinner this past Friday night. We made reservations around 5pm. This place was quickly packed after we finished dinner. I ordered the Lobster Ravioli. At first, I wasn’t impressed since I felt like I didn’t get that many pieces. But as I started eating it, I got full pretty fast. I think it’s the right amount. My dad got the Seafood Fra Diavolo. We asked if we can change the sauce since my dad cannot handle spicy and they were able to make it with marinara sauce. My mom got the Shrimp and Scallop Risotto and she loved her dish! They gave us a free dessert since it was my graduation. We got the Peppermint Ice Cream Pie and it was amazing! The service was really spectacular and attentive. I can’t wait to come back here with my boyfriend.

I just don’t have anything that I could possibly critique about this place! Stopped by AFC on the way home from a Sox game to grab some quick oysters and chowder at the bar. The bartender was awesome — I’d shout him out if I remembered his name. We had great service with a lot of jokes and conversation… not always the case at other high end restaurants in Back Bay. You have the option to sit outside on a nice summer day or inside on a chilly winter day and both options are great. The chowder has won a bunch of awards around Boston and it truly is one of the best. It isn’t overly thick or rich which some Boston restaurants attempt to do in order to cater to tourists. But if you know authentic chowder, it should be served thin without loads of sodium. They definitely nail it. You can also choose from a variety of east coast oysters and other high end seafood and meat dishes. It is on the pricier side, but the prime location and quality of food make it completely reasonable.

All the food here is exceptional. I has very high expectations and I was pleased. Oyster selection is vast and hit the spot — I especially liked the addition of horseradish and vinegar to the condiments. Clam chowder is great(and I’ve had some of the best before). Fish is cooked to perfection. You can’t go wrong with the Seared Sea Bass or crab crusted Haddock which melts in your mouth. If you have room, start with the crab/avocado/tomato appetizer. The bar staff is also refreshingly friendly. Get there before the crowd to sit outside or next to the window. I really tried to find a flaw but couldn’t. You won’t leave unsatisfied!

Made a reservation days before. When we arrived Friday evening, we were seated promptly within 2 minutes despite the busy Friday evening. After ordering we received our appetizers within 10 to 15 minutes and entrees within 20 minutes which is pretty fast. Food was delish. My fav was still the lobster steamed appetizer good portion and very fresh. The crab Louie appetizer portion was a little small and disappointing. Aside from that the tuna entrée, sea bass, Lobster ravioli and lobster roll were all good portions and all very tasty. I will upload photos I took from last night. We brought a cake. Cake cutting fee was not bad was $ 5 for entire cake we brought to restaurant. They did not charge per slice so that was good. On top of that we were celebrating so our waiter gave us a dessert on the house. Overall great experience.

I had the best seafood bite here ever. I went there for lunch and ordered Chilean Sea Bass in lunch portion. It was perfectly cook and so flavorful, I could finish the dinner portion if I got it. And I usually dont eat much during lunch. The fries are also yummy. They were paced in a seperate container, so cute. Not a fan of brussel spout though. They were more bitter than ones I had and not brown enough. But the fish makes the whole dish so wonderful.

During my trip to Boston, I made sure to research the top places in Boston for Clam Chowder. During my search, I found Atlantic Fish Company has not only one of the best Chowder recipes but one of the best Clam Chowder in a Bread Bowl menu Items. I came here for only that and I have to say they did bread bowl clam chowder exactly right. Food: So I decided to get the best Clam Chowder in a Bread Bowl & splurged a little and also ordered the bacon wrapped Scallop Appetizer. The scallops were somewhat small but were a little ball of great flavor. They were complemented with a interesting take on spicy brown mustard that worked really well. The best Clam Chowder in a Bread Bowl really lived up to expectations. First, the bread comes straight from the oven and toasted. It’s a huge bread bowl so you will not be able to eat a entrée afterwards. The chowder was creamy and had just the exact amount of seafood taste I wanted. I mean the soup was amazing. Bread was amazing. I loved the meal. Overall, I see why it is rated one of the best Clam Chowder in a Bread Bowl. Hands down Atlantic Fish Company earned a 5 out of 5 in my book! Great atmosphere, nice service, and awesome location finishes up this review. Thank you for taking the time to reading my work.

So here’s how the evening started. Starting out really badly. I’ve never give a restaurant a one star so far but this may just be it. Have been waiting here for over 20 mins now. As Jerry Seinfeld would say these folks know how to take a freaking reservation, but don’t know how to hold it. And that really is the most important part of the reservation. I made a reservation for one and they keep telling me to go to the bar. Well, the whole point of making a reservation was that I didn’t want to wait at the bar. Also when I went to inquire again, one of the hostesses asked me again to go the bar, and when I refused essentially told me we’ll come get you when we do. Okay, I’ve finally sat down and am a little less peeved. The hostess that seated me was nice and the waiter seems very nice as well. The clam chowder was okay. On the spectrum from too creamy to too watery, this one was too watery. Taste wasn’t bad, but I’ve had better from the Quincy market in Boston. The house martini was excellent. It packs a punch, so I’m glad I’m not driving. The bread is pretty good. Tasty sourdough, just wish it was crispier and warm. I got the sea bass which was cooked over lobster ravioli and a bed of spinach. The sea bass itself was a wonderful piece, nice and thick. The only problem was that it was a tad bit over cooked, not melt in your mouth delicious as what I would expect from a place like this. The lobster ravioli was very good. Overall a 3.5−4 for food, the waiter was excellent, but the initial service from one of the hostesses was just plain rude, and I just don’t buy this nonsense about running over«today» and that too without any apology. It seems to be happening at too many Boston restaurants. And it’s a Monday night. It’s a fine restaurant but there are too many fine restaurants in Boston to accept this level of service.

3.5 stars for decent seafood, average service. Strongly prefer Island Creek, Neptune and B&G for superior seafood and service. APPS Had lump crab, oyster sampler — wasn’t blown away by the oysters. Bacon-wrapped scallops were a novelty, but weren’t as wow as you might expect. MAINS Scallops were tasty but definitely not jumbo. Chilean sea bass turned out beautifully, which half of our party of 10 enjoyed. Roasted sweet potatoes were outstanding, coworker enjoyed the corn pudding. SERVICE Most underwhelming was the service, which seemed slow and inattentive despite this being a large business lunch.

Came for brunch and ended up ordering from the dinner menu. We ordered the lobster bisque and it was very bland and just tasty very fishy and tasted like sea water. For appetizer, we ordered the crab cake and lobster ravioli. The crab cake was made of big lump crab and there is no need for the tartar sauce. Just eat it without it! Lobster ravioli is definitely a must try!!! Fresh and there is lobster in every bite. For entrees, we ordered the sea scallops, which was served with sweet yams and asparagus. Some of the scallops were a little dry, but still very fresh! We also ordered the ahi tuna, which was served with fries and potatoes. The best part of the meal was that everything was so fresh and inexpensive! Hard to find a spot in New York for fresh seafood.

Lately I’ve been very unsatisfied with the service I’ve been receiving when going out to eat. Brunch last weekend was quite the opposite. I was floored by the impeccable service I given from start to finish. We started with the Lobster Ravioli which was to die for! The bread basket was wonderful, served warm. We made a mess and she came along with a tool to scoop up all the crumbs. Maybe it’s just me but I was impressed. Their menu is great, I definitely had a hard time deciding. Becca got the Lobster and Filet Mignon Benny which she enjoyed. I got the Lobster and Buffalo Mozzarella omelet which was good, not the best, but I’m kinda picky when it comes to omelets. I made reservations on OpenTable and we were seated right away. The tables were beautifully set. It wasn’t too busy, maybe half full. I don’t remember our server’s name but she was knowledgeable and friendly all the way through. From clearing to presetting everything was on point. I had let her know it was Becca’s birthday and she brought out a chocolate cake with a candle on the house. Four stars for the food, six for the service. I’ll be back!

#2 restaurant in Boston for me. I like to come here on weekends when their bread baskets have blueberry muffins in it. Their bread baskets are out of this world — warm and soft bread! I’ve tried most of their menu and I will say that their lobster ravioli is one of the best in Boston. The brown sugar just tops it all off so nicely and they don’t skimp on seafood. Everything is fresh tasting. It is a bit fancier and… touristy, but the food is really delicious! The service is also great and food comes out quickly.

4.25 to be exact. Atlantic Fish Company is a great place to visit for some really good seafood. They have a wide variety of fresh food to try on the«Fresh Catch» and I have always been satisfied eating here. I would definitely suggest seafood fans come here at least once. With the location of this establishment on Boylston Street, it does attract a lot of people and you can expect a wait during peak hours. I would recommend getting a reservation here if possible. To start off, the complementary bread definitely hits the spot once you begin your meal. As fir an appetizer, I have tried the fried calamari(Calamari Milano) and tuna tartare with no issues, but my favorite thing to start my meal here is the New England Clam Chowder in a Bread Bowl. Yes, this is filling, but it is great! You get a large portion and I feel for some people this is enough for an entire meal. As for the main course, I have had the opportunity to try the Surf & Turf with Filet Mignon and Maine lobster tail. I really enjoyed the lobster in this dish, while I thought the Filet Mignon was good, but nothing amazing. This showed me that you definitely need to come here just for the seafood! Another time I was here I had the pleasure of trying the Block Island Swordfish Steak. This was VERY good! The fish had great flavor and I remember not speaking much while eating this dish, I really enjoyed it! With how good the Swordfish was, I would come back here again to try other offerings on their Fresh Catch Menu!

If you want great seafood and try great lobster roll, come here. The lobster roll here is one of the best I’ve had — better than Neptunes! You can get great seafood without having to wait 2+ hours, and dine at a place where you have space and ability to hear what your party is saying! Definitely a great place to come to for seafood. Highly recommend that you make reservation in advance. The service is great, we split the lobster roll between two people so they served it on two plates for us. Extra fries, hurray! Also, highly recommend that you get the peppermint ice cream cake. Made with real bits of peppermint. Delicious!

We ordered fish and chips and a lobster roll, but before that we had drinks at the bar. I had a lobster roll for every day I spent in Boston this trip(~4days). This wasn’t the best roll, but it was good(and expensive). The fish and chips was probably the best I’ve had in while and I recommend ordering it. The total bill came to $ 60−70ish per person, but that’s because lots of wine was ordered. Reservations are easy to make.

This place may refuse to honor your reservation if someone else offers them more money. I made a reservation to take my mom or to dinner before a concert weeks in advance. I even bought a gift card to turn the outing into a holiday gift. Days before the dinner, they called me to tell me my reservation was cancelled because another group has bought out the restaurant. What’s the point of taking reservations if you’re not going to honor them?

DONOTORDER A CAESAR! It tasted like sewage water!!! It was the worst drink ever! Unsure was it the vodka used, but it was not a CAESAR! They probably had no idea how to make it. Finally, ONLYRESERVATIONS! We walked in around 6:30 and nothing was available, booked in for 8:45! So if you wanna eat here, please call and reserve! It’s dim inside, good ambience for a date or a night out as a couple. There are televisions in there as well. There wasn’t really a dress code, so jeans and shirt was fine. Okay, so even though the drink was bad, the food was actually pretty delicious! I would still recommend this restaurant if you want some seafood! The oysters were really fresh, the clam chowder bread bowl was only okay, not enough clam but a lot of veggies(if you want amazing clam chowder, go to Boston Chowda Co at Quincy Market), the lobster bisque wasn’t too bad, our entrees were delicious! Filet mignon was definitely medium rare as requested, surprisingly the mash potatoes were very flavourful, couldn’t stop eating it. That wraps up my this review, I hope you have an better idea of whether to eat here or not!

This place was recommended to my boyfriend and I by several different people so we knew we needed to try it. Once we arrived we saw that it was packed with people. I felt like we were sat a little too close to the tables around us, but that didn’t stop me from enjoying my meals. We started off with the Calamari Milano. I enjoyed this more than I enjoyed my entrée. The calamari came with fried pieces of hot peppers! The hot peppers added a nice kick and went well with the lemon juice! For my entrée I got the Seafood Fra Diavolo as it was recommended by our server. While I enjoyed this dish, the tomato flavor was too much for my liking. I also bit into a couple pieces of shell while picking at all of the seafood. With all of the different types of seafood restaurants that can be found in Boston, I don’t see myself going back to this place if I was given that option.

Looking for a good restaurant near my hotel, I stopped in Atlantic Fish Company after seeing the good reviews on Unilocal.I was solo so I sat at the bar. The service was a little slow but that’s pretty typical when you sit at the bar. I had the sea bass chowder. I was a little disappointed in it as it was a little bland for my taste especially since the description featured poblano peppers. There was one slice of pepper which is nothing for a Texan. Also, the bacon appeared to be packaged bacon bits instead of fresh bacon. I had a small salad as well but I can’t tell you what it was because it wasn’t the one I ordered. And since the salad came out 10 minutes after my soup, I didn’t send it back.

I don’t know what happened here. I’ve heard nothing but amazing things about this place. My friend from home told me over and over again. «Get the lobster roll. Get the lobster roll. And the chowder.» So what do I do? Waiter: What would you like? Boston friend: Surf and Turf. Me: Ooh that sounds good, I’ll have the same. And a cup of chowder. WHATHAD I JUSTDONE?! What happened to the lobster roll, Liz? You dummy. Anywho, I went to the Atlantic FISH Company… and got Turf. I know. I’m as disappointed in myself as I was in the Turf. It was so dry and I could barely chew it(I ordered it Medium). My friend ordered medium rare, and it was also SUPER dry and overcooked, so it wasn’t just me. Not like it would’ve mattered if I ordered it more rare… Luckily the lobster tail was tasty, but it’s honestly hard to mess that up. The bread and butter was tasty. The chowder was a tad gritty(like it had a lot of sand in it…) but the taste was delectable! But yes. I’m soooo disappointed in myself. Never again will I get the turf there. So dry. *shivers* I will opt for the damn lobster roll.

My husband and I were researching where we should go for great seafood in a region brimming with superb seafood places to eat. Luckily, Unilocal made the decision easy for us! We came here for brunch right before planning to shop at Newbury Street only a couple of blocks away. We had the bacon wrapped scallops, lobster roll and the cod plate from the«day’s catch» menu. They all tasted very sumptuous and fresh! The waiter was super accommodating and friendly, not like the typical waiters that you find in LA. Because we came into the restaurant right as it opened, complimentary bread was not fully ready; however, the waiter whipped up two slices of delicious bread from I don’t know where, AND even remembered to offer us their warm bread as soon as it was fully baked. I highly suggest to check it out when you’re in the area!

It was by far the most expensive meal we had while in Boston. You must have reservations — repeat make reservations if you want to try this place or you will be disappointed. It is a nice restaurants but not a dressy or stuffy kind of place(or at least I didn’t feel it was). Two things we wanted to try was the lobster and lobster roll, but first we ordered appetizers. We started out with ½ dz blue point oysters and they were alright but I would have passed. We also tried the oysters Rockerfeller. Again, fine but I would pass. Also tried the lobster bisque and that was rich and buttery. I’d order that again. If you take a piece of their sourdough and soak up the bisque: wow! I preferred the sourdough as opposed to the other bread(had Rosemary). There was a delay in our main entrees and the staff was apologetic– management even stopped by to check in on us– offered us a drink which my husband took. When our plates arrived they were worth every penny and every minute. The lobster roll was just like I imagined a New England lobster roll would be like. The roll was nice and warm, buttery with some bite. So as you chompped on the warm roll then got to the lobster filling which was cold– the contrast was perfection. The filling had big pieces of lobster with mayo(or dressing) and some celery– again very well balanced. It was perfectly seasoned and served with hot crispy french fries — too many to eat. Yes, it was the most expensive($ 26) roll we had in Boston but to be honest it was the best. I would go back and have another one today if I could. The lobster can be served on the shell or off. Even when you order with shell, they break apart the lobster which I don’t particularly like. I want to be messy and just go all crazy on it– shell-shucking and fighting the 3 lbs lobster. It is a huge monster and very impressive. We got quite a bit of aww’s as the plate was being delivered. $ 60 for a 3 pounder is quite pricey but it was worth it. Again, the most expensive lobster we ate but I/we would repeat. I think that this is a must stop if you are in town. Just know that you will pay for it — so get over it & just enjoy and feast.

My must-go-to restaurant for lunch each time I’m in Boston! Wonderful interior & great service! AFC satisfied my palate this time with their creamy Clam Chowder; crispy Caesar salad; rich Lobster Ravioli; spicy Grilled Calamari; juicy Steamers, and buttery Lobster Roll! I ordered the appetizer’s portions in all, except for the lobster roll, and split them in half in enjoying the meal with my my friend! No room for dessert ever! Cheers!

We came in without reservation as we were travelling from NYC for thanksgiving weekend. The restaurant was pretty full for dinner and we need to wait for 20 minutes for bar. Customer service: 4⁄5 Overall customer service is satisfying Fish stew bowl: 4⁄5 Very flavorful! Personally, I hate pepper but the pepper enhances the flavor. The fish is perfectly cooked. I frankly do not think pouring all the biscuits are good idea. This is thanks to my friend! Maine lobster: 4⁄5 Came in with 2 small red potatoes and 1 corn in the cob. The cob is juicy at one side and dry on the other. As for the lobster, you can choose to ask without its shell or crack it yourself. I requested for the meat only with baked crab stuffing. The lobster is fresh and cooked perfectly. So no complaints here. Peppermint pie: 4⁄5 Is huugggeee! It came in with 2 slices for two of us and we thought they charged us with 2 pies but in fact, it is one serving. The restaurant was considerate enough to divide the pie into two so we don’t fight over the pie. The peppermint pie has oreo cookie crumb based with a huge swirl of whip cream and chocolate syrup. I found the peppermint pie to be too sweet though. However, the oreo cookie does its job by slightly complement the sweetness. It is worth the price though for $ 9. Overall: recommended!

GETTHELOBSTERROLL. THANKMELATER. I got so full on the pre-dinner bread, that I could only finish half my lobster roll. I remember feeling like the lobster roll bread was little too hard/toasty. But luckily I packed the other half and had it for breakfast the next day and it was DIVINE. The flavors soaked the bread and everything was perfect!

Went here upon the recommendation of a fried. It was really packed, and I think there was a long wait, but guess what? Snagged a spot at the bar. Service was super fast. One Harpoon and one Lobster Roll later, I was one wicked happy girl. The lobstah roll was plump, flavorful, buttery, and insanely scrumptious. It was gigantic, but that didn’t stop me from inhaling it in one fell swoop. Can’t wait to come back to Boston again so I can return here.

Third visit, yet sadly, not one was without a hiccup. This was my first dinner visit, for the special occasion of a birthday celebration. They were nice to hold our reservation when we were late(we called to let them know) and to seat us before the rest of the party had arrived due to parking difficulties. Bread was soft and crusty with butter easily spread. Their chowder($ 9 in a bread bowl) was good and creamy. The Steamed Mussels $ 13(sofrito, capers, warm garlic croûton) were nice and fat and juicy, and nearly sand-free, though several of the creatures were suspiciously shut. At $ 17, the Local Jonah Crab Cake(with cole slaw and tartar sauce) was a less impressive portion. Though tasty and made with little filler, it was rather flat and moist. One of my pet peeves reared its head here, with the Specials being temptingly recited sans the price point. As my entrée, I selected the Pan-Seared Sea Bass spinach and lobster ravioli, lobster cream sauce, tomato, fresh basil $ 42. Having ordered their most expensive entrée after the larger lobster dishes, I expected to be wowed. I wasn’t. While good, the fish lacked that special fatty goodness that I so love in Chilean Sea Bass. In sampling a friend’s Seared North Atlantic Salmon with honey, Dijon dill glaze, over parsley potatoes, topped with a Norwegian cucumber garnish, with a horseradish veloute $ 33, I found the fish overcooked and a bit dry, and the sauce too strong and not to either of our taste. The diner who ordered up my second choice, however, the Crab Crusted Haddock truffle salted potatoes, asparagus, cherry tomatoes, light cream sauce $ 33, described it as having a whole crab cake smashed on, and the sauce as delicious. My additional order of Braised Brussels Sprouts $ 7 was notably missing, so I had to inquire after them. Once they arrived, I found the portion acceptable and decent for sharing, but the miniature cabbages too soft. Their sangria $ 11 is not recommended by any of our bunch. In fact, one in our party claimed to have had a better $ 6 version elsewhere. Then the bill arrived. I was taken aback, not because of the nearly $ 500 total due, but because a note that had been added to the reservation regarding dessert had been evidently ignored. Atlantic Fish supposedly offers a free dessert for birthdays, so I had asked them to please surprise the birthday gal with a slice of their cheesecake. This did not happen. I won’t count them«Out!» just yet, since their seafood tower has been highly touted to me as really fresh and good, but I wouldn’t count on them for a perfect dining experience Rounded up to 3 stars.

Visited back for a second round and it was just as lovely as before. Host was awesome in remembering our orders and bringing us endless amounts of bread! Had the special(Swordfish, potatoes, and green beans) since I wasn’t feeling the menu and felt like getting something random… did not regret it at all!

This place is a solid 4-stars…not 5, but a very good 4. That being said, it was a little disappointing as Atlantic Fish was touted to me as «one of the best seafood restaurants in Boston», along with Neptune’s, Island Creek & Ostra. Personally, I think I would have preferred Neptune’s(based on pics on Unilocal), but they closed too early for us, so we went with Atlantic. So, here’s my review: Ambiance: 3-stars, felt like a high-end chain restaurant, similar to a Capital Grille or someplace like that. Nothing really unique about it and tended to be an older, more casual crowd… seems like Bostonians love wearing Red Sox caps everywhere(just an observation as I’m not a baseball or red sox hater by any means). I felt overdressed even though I was only wearing slacks and a sport coat. I’m not a fashion snob at all as I regularly eat at food trucks & taco stands, but when going to a fine dining restaurant, I think it’s only appropriate to look nice, in my opinion. Cocktails: 3.5-stars, had an interesting list, but a lot of the drinks had too much sugar. Wine List: 4-stars, very good wine list with a lot of reasonably priced new world and old world options. Was worried it might loaded with only California, Australia/NZ, etc., but was nice to see France, Spain, Germany & Austria on the list. Ordered a $ 40 Loire Valley(French) Muscadet, which was excellent. Food: 4-stars, had the mixed greens salad, raw lump crab, oysters rockerfeller, tuna tartare and lobster crab louie — all were excellent, but the Louie really stood out as something special. Also had the chilean sea bass with lobster ravioli, which everyone raved about, but thought it was just Ok. The clam chowder was not«award winning» as they tout it, but still good. And probably the best thing on the menu was the Peppermint Ice Cream Pie, which was out of this world. Service: 4-stars, pretty good service and didn’t have to wait too long to be seated as we had a reservation. Was nice to be able to valet park next door at Abe & Louie’s. Overall, Atlantic Fish is a solid 4-star seafood restaurant, and make sure you order the Lobster Crab Louie and the Peppermint Ice Cream Pie, which are the stars of the show, in my opinion… and if you’re from Boston, try leaving the cap at home and replacing it with a jacket when you go there, you might like it… just sayin’.
