Cute shoes. Crappy customer service.
I went in on a weekday morning, wasn’t greeted by the employee standing behind the cash register. She finally acknowledged me when I went right up to her to try on two pairs of shoes. Neither of which were in my size. I went ½ a size up which actually weren’t too bad. There was another lady in the store trying on shoes when I was there and she didn’t come up to either of us to ask how we were doing or if we needed a different size.
I think Aldo has some really cute shoes, which is why I still come here but I wish they’d get better sales associates.

Had great service. Absolutely love the shoes and purse I bought. They’ve held up well and were a great value.

the worst customer service especially the manager he is rude, I was a customer and he was loudly talking negative about other customers in the store he had an attitude when I asked him for help made me walk straight out of the store and I most likely wouldn’t return to that aldos thanks to him.

Shopping for shoes on a Sunday afternoon. Went in, saw lots of shoes along the walls, was helped pretty quickly by staff at the front door greeting ppl. No complaints — typical shoe experience.

Newbury St location has horrible customer service and zero concern for retaining customers.
Purchasing a pair of boots yesterday, the saleswoman tried to up-​sell me on just about everything. She did convince me to purchase these sole grip adhesives for the bottom of the boots. After putting them on correctly, one fell off the first time I wore them.
Called the store hoping to at least get another pair for free or my money back, a snotty salesperson told me since they were worn, it wasn’t their problem. Told me I should have taken 20 minutes to «massage» them into the shoe — and that in his 15 years, no one else ever had problems so there was clearly I had done something wrong.
Rude, unprofessional, and embarrassing customer service. Only buy their shoes if they are on sale and online.

Came in and wasn’t sure who actually worked there. Difficult to find at first but eventually was approached by a worker and she was great! We were able to try on different sizes and was extremely helpful in getting us the shoes we wanted and we were out in good time.

The experience I had in this store is the reason online shopping has taken over. Please note: I am NOT a frequent online shopper. However,
had a fantastic sale that I decided to take advantage of.
I shipped the shoes to the store, instead of to my home, so that I could do a quick try and return if necessary in-​store.
Disaster. A 5 minute trip morphed into a 30 minute zoo.
Unfortunately, this Aldo store was not run professionally. The lady trying to help me took 25 minutes to find 5 pairs of shoes. She kept asking me if I had come in before, gone to the other store, taken one already, etc. What does that tell me? The backstore is a mess.
Next, all these store sales hires were asking this poor lady/​manager about everything. She was being pulled everywhere, while trying to search for my shoes. I give her props for staying calm, but the lack of professionalism by all the other hires was frustrating. What does that tell me? People are not well trained.
Lastly, the phone is ALWAYS BUSY. Even when I tried to call them, it was busy. I couldn’t even confirm that all my shoes had arrived before I showed up. The only saving grace was that my order was all there and I got my shoes.
I sure hope Aldo fixes its store operations, otherwise Zappos and Amazon will make these storefronts irrelevant.

I honestly will not walk back into this place again. For starters, they are ridiculously over priced for the style and quality of their product. $ 100 for a pair of knock off Steve Maddens? I’ll just go to Steve Madden and spend the same for the real thing knowing that they won’t fall apart next week.
This past visit was just another example of their beaming customer service skills (jokes). I walked in with my boyfriend to browse around a bit and find something to exchange for a pair of boots I had been given by my father. We were bombarded by what felt like anyone working in the store (can’t stand comission employees) within our first steps in. I understand the need to help, but can I at least choose something to try on before you’re asking me what size I’d like? The woman who ended up helping us was clearly the manager, and has this kind of frumpy hippie art school thing going on, although she is definitely too old to be that unkept. Despite our opening encounter, she seemed less than please to get shoes for me to try on.
Once I chose a pair, I went to the register and found a fun, feather bag along the way which was definitely coming home with me. I gave her the boots a receipt that I was exchanging. She range me up and did not give me all of the money from my exchange towards my new purchase. Upon inquiring as to why, she told me that there was a special promotion going on at the time where they were giving out coupons towards purchases for $ 10 and that that was all she took off. That seemed ridiculous to me. An exchange is an echange. You can’t deduct money from a credit. I have never heard of that before. Not wanting to spend anymore time there, I just shrugged it off — only ten bucks, but still. Then, she proceeds to squish the feathered purse I was also getting into the box with my shoes. I asked her not to, as she was clearly going to break the feathers off or at least crush them into some crappy mess. I said that I would rather she just put the shoes and the purse into a bag, not together in the box with a handle. She looks around, leans in, and whispers to me, «We’re going Green. I can’t just give bags out. Plus, the girl sitting behind you just bought a pair of shoes and I told her she couldn’t have a bag. If I give you one and she sees, it will disrupt the whole store.» Are you kidding me? Like, really? I get going green, but I bought two things that clearly call for ONE bag — not five. I just grabbed my stuff and left. Said nothing else to her.
So frustrating and totally not worth it. Definitely won’t be back.

I walked in to ALDO on Newbury the other night on my way home from work. I had accidentally left my office shoes on and my feet were screaming. I decided to buy some shoes to wear home. I started perusing the shelves and was literally bombarded by sales people asking me if I wanted to try anything I touched. They obviously fight for sales or commission etc. I finally got to some shoes that looked stylish and comfortable, kind of a fancy flip flop wedge hybrid. I was approached by the fourth sales girl (not a large store) who asked me if I wanted to try. I explained that my feet were killing me and showed her two styles. I asked if she knew if they were comfortable. She explained yes, and went off to find the two pairs of shoes in my size. I waited longer than normal, but when she came back, she had both. I had already decided in my mind that if they felt ok, I would buy both pairs. I went to take the boxes from her and realized that not only was I wearing my office shoes, but also my nylons. I looked up at her and asked if there was anything I could stand behind to quickly pull them off. She explained that they had a bathroom, but it was not for customers so I couldn’t use it (I hadn’t even asked for a bathroom remember, just anywhere out of the way for two seconds). She then suggested that I go diagonally across the street to a Starbucks and use the bathroom there, and then come back for my shoes. I was standing there shocked when two if the other sales people came over. I stood there silent with my feet killing me as she told the others how she offered me a trip to Starbucks across the street. None of them said a word. She then turned back to me and asked «so, do you want to go across the street to Starbucks, and I’ll hold these here, and then you can come back over and try them on?» I said «no, no I don’t», and left.

I love the fact that not only are my little feet perfect for the androgynous «women’s» shoes, but I find a pair I like nearly every time I walk in here. Though this is a bit dangerous…
The new (I think) woman who works here is SO friendly and bubbly. She was excited that I bought the shoes that looked cute on me and even recommended the «Vincent and Dr. Who» episode based on the «Starry Night» on my credit card. I’ve also never had a problem with the people here, most likely due to salesgirls always loving a gay boy with an eye for fashion. Just sayin…
Dear cute boy with the scruff and red button down shirt who has shyly commented on my purchase TWICE… you can hit on me a little more blatantly next time. I do take the hint but I’m not gonna bite unless you’re more up front about it.

My recent experience at Aldo, in comparison with other reviews, is a complete and utter anomaly, and I am willing to admit that. I won’t sit here and scoff at the bad reviews. I won’t go on and on about how ‘appalled’ I am at other people’s poor interactions with the staff. The truth is, these other reviews are probably a better measurement of what your experience will be at this store. I was lucky enough to be an exception to the norm.
Carrying my brand new electric blue Betsy dress, I sought the help of Aldo for a pair of shoes and accessories to coordinate. Upon walking in, I was immediately helped by a charming man who listened to my shoe concerns, gathered up some options for me and even brought my dress over to the mirror as I was trying on the shoes, so I could see how they’d look together. Another salesperson helped me find a sleek envelope clutch to the outfit, and I was at the register with a big smile on my face in under 10 minutes.
Since I am not at the Manolo/​Louboutin/​Choo stage of my life quite yet, Aldo was a good option for a pair of sparkly silver dress shoes and clutch that complemented my new frock fantastically. I gladly handed over a Benjamin and a few Washingtons for items that I know I will get quite a few wears out of… at least until they fall apart!

The sales girls were fighting for sales and accidentally left their commission-​tracking sheet out by the registers…
But, I was tempted by so many cute Aldo’s items! I ended up picking a large black bag on sale for $ 20 and a beautiful blue scarf for my mom (I hope she’s not reading my Unilocal reviews!) on sale for $ 12.50. I was super tempted by a lot of the cute, blingey jewelry but resisted… However, I did also snatch up two of $ 5 the cute silver bracelets that benefit children in Rwanda affected by AIDS. The children designed the images on the bracelets themselves! I’m excited to have one for myself and give one as a gift!

Now, let it be known, I am a big Aldo fan! However, this location sucked. First off, the guy who was helping Natasha and me with shoes kept telling us to try sizes that weren’t ours… wtf? I usually wear a 5 and ½…he recommended size 7. Natasha was recommended to try a size that was way bigger than her normal too! Why? Because they have nothing in stock. Out of all the shoes I wanted to try (about 5 different ones) only 1 was available in the size I wanted! What the heck? And then they were $ 100. So not worth the time or effort. Hit DSW or if you want to spend some money on good shoes that will last, Kenneth Cole.

Every pair of shoes I have every bought here has cost me so much pain and suffering. They are always comfy right when you try them on but beware, the are not! Even their new lower heel line is stiff and painful.

I’ve never actually boughten shoes at THIS Aldo– but at others– I don’t usually shop on newbury because of the sales staff at MOST of the stores– as you can see by others reviews they are snobbish!
I have a pair of boots from Aldo that I love and have really stood the test of wear and time so far– so fingers cross they continue to. I usually come in, look around at sales and then leave without buying– because as others said they just aren’t worth the price.

Everybody is right on. I think the shoes *look* pretty cool, and when they’re on sale, they seem like good deals. So I ended up with three pairs. Let me tell you about them.
First pair: Coolest looking shoes ever. Both insoles were destroyed quickly. Fluffly stuff under them is disintegrating. (I still wear them – they look cool!)
Second pair: Rubber soles came off both shoes. I glued them back on. Shoes still look ok. (This pair only cost me $ 20).
Third pair: Rubbery cosmetic strips are peeling from both shoes. (about $ 20).
So the shoes are garbage, but I think they look stylish. Caveat emptor.

Once in a while you can find a great deal on something that’s nice and not pleather. But most of the shoes are just TOO trendy (and trust me, it takes a lot for me to say that!). I agree on the whole knock-​off thing too. I’ve seen $ 300 runway knock-​offs in there — $ 300 for ALDO, are you kidding!!!

I’m with Lisa on this one, knock off shoes that aren’t cheap. Who need ‘em?

Most of the shoes here are just made poorly and the staff is aloof for no apparent reason. Blech. Go to the shoe stores up by urban for better selection at the same or lower prices. GOOD FOR: nasty looks, boredom.

Don’t be fooled by it’s location farther down on Newbury, Aldo still has attractive and affordable shoes. They have great sales at the end of Winter and Summer (of course), so be sure to hit those up for good discounts. I never much liked the sales staff there, however, as they seem to be a bit snobbish.
