14 Stories produces once in a lifetime, one of a kind weddings and events for same-sex and progressive-minded couples.
14 Stories has been the trusted planner of stunning gay and lesbian weddings since 2004, working with hundreds of couples from around the world to produce extraordinary weddings of all sizes. We work with an incredibly talented, carefully screened and fun team of mostly LGBT-owned vendors to create stylish and perfectly executed once in a lifetime celebrations that are a true reflection of your love for one another.
For each full service wedding, we make a donation to charity on each couple’s first anniversary. Founder Bernadette Smith is the author of three books on wedding planning and is the gay wedding expert blogger on TheKnot.com and The Huffington Post. Our work has been featured in national and local wedding magazines and blogs, and in the New York Times and CNN.
History
Established in 2004.
Started in 2004 by two women who dreamed of being the bridge between the gay and lesbian community (who were just granted marriage equality) and the very traditional wedding industry.
Although Bernadette’s first idea was to help LGBT couples navigate the wedding industry, she now helps all couples and clients looking for events that are different from the norm.
Meet the Business Owner
Bernadette S.
Business Owner
Owner, lead planner and all around gay wedding expert Bernadette Smith thinks too much, dreams very big and always has a plan — but this is good for her clients. She has worked on hundreds of weddings and dozens of other events since starting the company. She loves her career — the best part is, without a doubt, being invited into the lives of so many wonderful couples and clients. She considers it a blessing to hear the beautiful stories of how you met, how you knew it was right and how you envision celebrating your commitment. Bernadette admits that she’d be lost without her smartphone, is completely addicted to wedding blogs, and probably doesn’t take enough vacations. She is a proud AmeriCorps alum (hence the idealistic streak), has an undergrad degree in Film, an MBA and spends her free time volunteering, traveling and playing with her wife and son.
