It is now called Dave Beards Seafood but it’s exactly the same as it was 20 years ago as the Catfish King. The catfish was excellent. I also had gumbo and the salad bar. Way too much food! But so good if you want a quick filling lunch or dinner. This is a casual small chain restaurant with a fixed menu, not an upper-scale ‘meal to remember’ experience. But a nice switch from burgers or typical chain eateries if you are in the South. The girls were nice, the salad bar was adequate with green tomato relish which is truly southern. The menu has enough to choose from if catfish is not your thing too. It was nice to be back after 20 years away.

Fish was just bland and isn’t regular catfish. Pretty sure this is the cheap Vietnamese imitation you can get at Sunday dinner. It wasn’t bad, it was just OK. The waitress was great though and the service was good.

Salad bar wasn’t expected very fresh, catfish was excellent. Good meal for the money.

Don’t let the name fool you. Save yourself 5 $ and go to the big fast food fish chain.

Went here on a Saturday for lunch with my family, sister-in-law and her husband. I pretty large group, we ordered off the lunch menu which also included the salad bar. Everything on the salad bar was fresh, and the dressings were good, not very typically of most salad bars. I enjoyed the catfish po-boy, it was good. The batter was light and not too much batter. The rest of the group ordered other deep fried goodness, like shrimp and battered chicken fingers. Overall the food was good, the price is just right, not too much and not inexpensive. The restaurant does need to be updated, it has seen better days. I would definitely recommend giving it a try; we will be going back for dinner in the near future.
