Established in 1968.

Bittersweet Fabric Shop was established in 1968 by Audrey and Donald LaValley, starting out in the living room of their home. The business continued to grow under their persistent dedication and nurturing when it was moved to its present day location in 1974. Audrey & Donald’s son, David LaValley, joined them in business in 1998 and continues their strong reputation of excellent sales and service.

David LaValley joined his parents in managing the Bittersweet Fabric Shop upon his retirement from the United States Air Force after 20 years of service, where during his career he served on the USAF Thunderbirds.

I stopped into this fabric/​sewing machine shop just because I was in the area and needed needles. (I live well over an hour away) Since then, I have made several thousand dollars of purchases from them. The owners of the shop are nicest and most knowledgeable entrepreneurs I have ever met. The level of service they give you is beyond excellent. I have no problem with driving over an hour to get there for even minor purchases, even though there are sewing shops all around my location. Also, they offer unlimited free lessons when you buy a machine, which is extraordinary.
