Specialties
The Borrego Springs Kiwanis Fruit Stand (the little blue hut) offers visitors an opportunity to buy fresh Seley Red Grapefruit, known throughout the world for their sweet flavor, thin skin, and low acidity. They make wonderful drinks! We also sometimes have oranges, minneolas, tangerines and dates when they are in season. These are certified organic and sell at approximately $ 5.00 a bag. You pay on the «honor system» and leave the money in the metal pipe. All proceeds go to benefit the children of Borrego Springs and neighboring communities. We are open 4 – 5 months. When you go around Christmas Circle in Borrego Springs take a look, and if it’s citrus season we hope you will buy from the Kiwanis and support our work.
History
Established in 2012.
The Kiwanis International, Borrego Springs, CA chapter was formed to bring the public spirit that Kiwanis is known for to our little desert community. We have provided funds to Borrego Youth Golf, Outside-the-Box Art for children, Boy & Girls Club, PGA Sports Academy and 2015 Children’s Film Festival. The proceeds from our 2 very successful fundraisers; the fruit stand and the street fair swap meet, help support vital youth programs that would not exist without the support of community partners like the Kiwanis. 95% of the children in our community are Hispanic and come from working families. If you would like to donate to children in our community, you can simply leave donations in the honor box at our fruit stand or contact us by e-mail through YELP. Thanks
