They have Delicious food but very expensive! They give you free ice cream at the end~

Ok… Went here with my friends today, one word. Terrible. The seafood wasn’t fresh at all. I felt nauseous after eating here. Not coming here ever again! What a waste of 36 $ for bbq and hot pot

Came here with some family & friends this past Mother’s Day, possibly one of the busiest days of the year, and was utterly amazed by how swift and hard-working the staff were. Lifting and transporting heavy platters of food and drinks, refilling soups in heated rooms, running around with order slips, you name it, they were doing it. Not to mention, they have a pretty extensive menu of AYCE items to select from for hot pot and Korean BBQ. There’s also sushi I believe, and besides alcohol and soda, they have herbal teas on the menu, which is a nice touch. Hot pot sauces can be limited in other spots, but this place had a long counter of sauces & condiments to choose from, with all-you-can-eat ice-cream & fruits. I also love that large groups can have a room to themselves, so you can get as rowdy as you want, but still have some privacy, being enclosed in a 3 wall room.

I feel like all of the bad/negative reviews on here are more geared towards their dim sum/BBQ experiences. I only had hot pot and I really enjoyed it. My party of 7 came in on a Friday night at 6:30(with a resso). There were a few tables dining already and the place filled up quite a bit, but never got completely packed. If you’ve been to a hot pot/bbq place, you’ll know that your clothes will come out smelling like the food. They have plastic bags to keep your jackets in, but you’ll have to ask them for it. To start, each person picks their own soup base. The hot and spicy(which my Dad got) looked SUPER spicy and was filled with chili peppers. He said it wasn’t super spicy but every time he tells me this and I try it, my tongue burns right off. So I opted out of trying that broth. Instead, I got the tomato broth. It comes with a hearty amount of tomatoes and scallions. The broth is sweet but also has that nice tomato tartness to it. Next, which is always my favorite part at these places — you head to the sauce station and start concocting. There are so many sauces to choose from that I won’t even name them. I couldn’t remember if I tried but chances are if you want it, they’ve got it — right down to the chopped cilantro and green onions. We ordered a bunch of items to start and it all came out pretty quickly, considering the variety we ordered. The standouts: Blue crab — if you’re lucky and they’re in season, you’ll get lots of egg in them like we did. They were also pretty meaty. The crab was really good, and not just for a hot pot place. Fish filet — it was probably frozen because that would be more economical for them but it didn’t taste frozen at all. It tasted good and not fishy at all either. Lamb — I normally don’t like lamb slices for hot pot because it tastes really gamey, but this one didn’t. If you like meat and you want a leaner option than their(super) fatty beef, then this is it. Shrimp paste — comes on a plate and you scoop it into the pot yourself. It’s like having freshly-made shrimp balls. You can skip: Udon — it looked mushy before I dumped it in my pot. After I dumped it in and not even for that long, everything basically just fell apart. Goose vegetable — I’m not exactly sure what kind of vegetable this is but that’s what it said on the menu. We didn’t order this but when we told them, they left it there anyway so we decided to try it. It tasted like a chewy version of celery. Cuttlefish balls — not for me. I don’t like these in general because of the chunks of squid(?) in them but also because they taste really fishy. After hot pot, there’s a small dessert station with jello, a variety of canned fruit, orange slices, that taro tapioca soup thing, and two other sweet soups — which I had no interest in trying. If none of these peak your interest, you can get a free scoop of strawberry or vanilla ice cream in a cone on your way out. Service was great. We had two people helping us. Our pots were refilled with broth pretty often(except for mine since I was sitting all the way on the inside, but no biggie). One of the waiters was always smiling and seemed happy to help us. I would say overall, Hangout 58 is on par with 99 Favors. But 99 Favors has small little extras(hair ties, wet wipes, aprons, plastic phone baggies) that makes the customer feel a little more special. And sometimes, it’s the little things that count. So Hangout 58, start takin’ notes!

DONOTDOBBQ, waste of money. The hotpot looked promising. Lets get the bad out of the way first, the BBQ burners are electric, and extremely low power. Not sure if that is by design so you eat less, what end up happening was the waitress offered to cook the food on the grill next door, after hearing us complaint. Feel bad for the wait staff listening to the complaints. You will not be full if you BBQ for 2 hrs. Now the BBQ food, everything tasted the same, not much difference between the flavors. And meat(any kind) was way too chewy, and low quality. Lucky half the people in my group got Hotpot or else there would have been a riot. The hotpot looked promising, not sure about flavor, but you have the sauces for that. Skip the fruit bar, zero effort there, only thing that was fresh was the oranges. The sweet soups look kind of water downed too. BBQ grill sucks and low quality BBQ food. Conclusion, never going back. Do not know how long they can stay open with a Hotpot place on the corner that has a lot of people going. I doubt there are repeat customer for BBQ.

Wow, a kbbq place in Brooklyn! I was excited to try it because you didn’t have to trek all the way to Flushing. However, the service was terrible and the food was mediocre. We did the kbbq option for $ 26.95 a person and we only got to do 1 round. It took THREE hours for that round. Me and my friends got tired from waiting and were annoyed. Some of our food didn’t come and one of the items we ordered was corn. They didn’t tell us they didn’t have it that day until we asked. The stove where we did the kbbq was taking way too long to cook the meat. Although the waiter helped us cook at the beginning, we started to do it ourselves because the waiter would take a while to work the other tables. The waiter put the stove on medium heat and we ended up switching to the highest setting possible and it still was taking long. We asked the waiter if the stove was broken. He said yes. Why would you seat someone where the stove is not working properly? There is also fruit and soup included in the price. However, you can see that the fruits are from cans and looks disgusting, soaked in the juice it came in. They also give ice-cream in a cone at the end for free, but this doesn’t really make up the lack of good service. Our water only got refilled once within those three hours, which is ridiculous. At the end, I felt like we got ripped off and wasn’t worth it at all. Skip this place unless you want to wait three hours for one round of kbbq.

$ 20 for AYCE hot Pot. What else do you want? Servers are attentive, the food is fresh, decent portion. They also have a small fruit/desert bar near the entrance. This is a plus. I like this place, the décor feels spacious and the meats are always fresh. Tip: do not do BBQ inside the party rooms though because there is no venting, so your clothes including you will smell very greasy later. Tip2: maybe BYOB– bring your own bag, to put away your jacket/coat from absorbing the hot pot smell for the time you stay there. this is something maybe management can consider including. But, it is a big expense considering the amount of customers per day and it not not for the environment. I rather come here than wait for 60 – 90 mins over 99 Taste and favor. They are very similar. I want my food when I’m hungry, not willing to wait around for hot pots.

I came here with my family for my dad’s birthday celebration on a weekend night. Despite having a reservation, we still had to wait 15 – 20 mins. Pros 1. Offer two small dishes of appetizers 2. Nice décor with a very Chinese ambiance. 3. Food was mostly very fresh Cons 1. Understaff!!! –The sauces and dips were running low and finally got refilled only when we spoke to the owner. –No one offered to get us something to drink 2. Service was lacking –it appears they pay no attention to portion size when we write it on the paper. Whether we write 2 or 6, they come as the same amount –there is always something missing when the order finally comes I still prefer 99 favor.

Hotpot review only: Service is a little bit of a mess. When we walked in, the hostess was too busy running around seating other parties to give us the time of day UNTIL a server mistakenly seated us at a pagoda table(got to feel special for about 5 seconds) that was reserved for another party. Calm down! At least the servers hanging around the front were attentive. I came with my parents and wasn’t aware that we were in for a hot pot buffet. Buffet? Oh, it was on. We walked away stuffed and because it was a weekday, it cost around $ 20 per person, which isn’t bad at all. But I did have a few issues. — The server who took our orders wasn’t great. I felt rushed to order in the beginning and he was pushing the bbq over hot pot option because it costs a little more. Wouldn’t have minded if he were smoother about it. — I’m pretty sure we were missing a few things we ordered too, but with all the food that came out at once, we didn’t bother to make a fuss. — Again, too busy eating to ask but a non-slotted ladle would’ve been useful to have when dealing with broth. We settled with using our soup spoons. — Something’s up with your Sprite, brah. That was not Sprite or it was Sprite Lite. Either way, it was nasty. — No egg on the menu :( At the end of the day, it’s a hot pot buffet so eat as much as you want to make up for any shortcomings. They also have a dessert bar near the entrance, which we totally missed, so that’s a nice bonus. But there are definitely better hot pot options, and you can pay the same amount(their weekday price) for more menu options so keep that in mind. 4 stars for weekday hot pot buffet only but in reality, it’s probably closer to 3.5.

With AYCE hot pot spots opening up all over Brooklyn. It’s hard to find a place that stands out in comparison to others. However, after trying out all of them, I always find myself coming back to this place. This is really a great place to hang out, chat, and talk while cooking your own food. Once you sit down, they give you a piece of paper where you are able to mark down what you want to eat. They have a pretty big variety where you can get a taste of a little bit of everything. I don’t have really high hopes for the quality of food at AYCE(because I mean, it’s pretty cheap already). However, the quality is better than I thought and their quick service is also another A+ in my books. They also have a small tong sui/fresh fruits section near the entrance so you can cleanse your palate at the end of your meal. All in all, I would definitely come again(especially since hot pot season is coming).

Totally a great place to hang out for a group. Every individual in the group gets their own hot pot which is really cool if you’re a vegetarian or vegan. However, there were only two of us, but it was fine. They hand you a paper and you decide how you want to go about this. You check things off, as opposed to how many you want(because if you do, they will just ignore it, however, you can always order twice or thrice or how many times you want). We had a little bit of everything. I can’t really explain the entire concept of hotpot here right now and tell you if it’s good, but judging on the variety and how quick the service was, I’ll have to give it a thumbs up. It’s great for winter by the way, just to sit around a hot pot(literally) and have food. Also, feel free to try things you haven’t before, you just might like it but don’t over-order because you may be charged for what you don’t eat. The bathroom is kind of gross, when I went in to wash my hands, there was water all over the floor. However, the atmosphere is nice and dark, perfect for a date. Plus, if you haven’t seen other Unilocaler’s photos, it’s quite mystical.

I take my staff here every year for our annual Holiday Party. We are usually a big group of 16 and they always have enough seating to accommodate us. Keep in mind, we do call a couple days in advance. The place is very spacious and clean. The tables all have individual hot pot holders/heaters. The hot pot is great. You get about 5 to 6 options for your broth and it is about $ 16-$ 20 for all you can eat hot pot. They recently added Kimchi broth to their menu! Korean BBQ is an option but I would pass on that. Drinks are not included in the set price. Not sure if anyone is interested but if your group is big enough they let you sing karaōke in the main dining area. I would highly recommend this place for a large group or for any couples who wants to enjoy some traditional hot pot.

I came here for dimsum on a weekday around 11am. No wait. There was a place for dimsum and a place for the regular grill for people that are coming in for lunch. The dimsum selection is similar to 8th ave but since we came a bit late, the good dishes were gone. I really wanted to try the cha sao siu(the triangle one) but it was gone so I went for the cha sao bao instead. It’s sweet and hot– good for a chilly day outside. dimsum waitress was super attentive. I think it came out to $ 25 for about 6 dishes. We eat, had 1 pot of tea and left in 30 minutes. I like that the place is quiet, not as loud as the other places on 8th ave. Bathroom is spacious and decent. Will come back if in the area.

This review is for the dim sum experience. It was a grand opening day so the dim sum prices were $ 1 – 2 per dish if I could remember. I stopped here with some friends. The set up of this place is not made for dim sum. We got sat in a private room called Summer which seats about 12 and there were only 5 of us… they were out of tables. The hour time I sat and ate I only saw 1 cart lady pass by. It was very hard to get hot dim sum dishes to us cause we’re in a private room! Half the time we had to go out and chase down the cart ladies or had to ask for a waiter to fetch it for us. Overall not a good place for dim sum, selection is very limited and the wait time for a cart lady is forever.

I came here on a Sunday morning with the boyfriend and his family for dim sum. It was a little taken a back by the fact that a hot pot and barbecue place would serve dim sum. However with their new fancy advertising up front screaming we now serve dim sum, it was inevitable that Asian families will try it out. We walked in and the space was very modern, it felt like a more Asian version of 99 Favor Taste. I dunno if good looks=good food. Theres basically only 2 or 3 carts in the entire restaurant that circulate around very slowly. We picked up a bunch of items including dim sum classics like shirmp rice roll and chicken feet. The quality of the food was very bad, almost leftover. The eggplant shrimp tasted expired, and everything did not taste fresh. Worse of all, the cilantro rice roll we had to order fresh was made with expired flour – it was sour. I am surprised we did not get food poisoning. Service was the only thing that was OK. But you know its not a real dim sum restaurant when you only have 3 carts going around. I hope we never go back. I would give one star if I could, but I felt liberal to give two because of the unique space.

I like this place much better than Favor Taste a couple avenues down because of the service. The service is on point and they do not skimp out on food. The restaurant itself is very roomy. I would recommend going for the all you can eat hot pot. The food is fresh and you get what you ask for. The korean bbq is ok but is still a work in progress. They also have a table for fruit and dessert. Pricing is $ 20 for all you can eat hot pot, $ 26 for korean bbq or $ 31 for both.

I wouldn’t have come here without my veteran friend, who has been here enough times to know the owners with his girlfriend. So, when I heard my name and hot pot in the same sentence, I went into zombie mode and said I’d meet him directly after work… like, I didn’t change directly afterwork hahaha! Looks are totally deceiving from the outside of the place. The outside reminded me of an office building of sorts with the metal exterior. Once you head up these stars, you are inside a beautifully detailed restaurant, filled with the heavy smells of cooked meats and broth. God, I want to be buried at one of the pagoda tables! They were gorgeous! Carved out of wood with red seat cushions, and beaded curtains to separate one mini hut to the next. As we were motioned to the back of the place, to the right, past the dessert bar, we sat and got to work looking over the al a carte menu. You order as you go, and can pick from mild to spicy hot broth to cook. Like most places, you can have the broth separated by a partition, so no blending! Some of the things we tried: Corn, dumplings(all three choices), seaweed, shrimp, fish, tofu, fatty beef What we ordered multiples of: dumplings and fatty beef This would have gotten five stars if a fruit fly didn’t take a nose dive into my water glass. It took more than one waiter for us to get across that all I wanted was another glass, but once that was all said and done, we were happy hot potting! Easy on the wallet, filling for the stomach, we will be bringing more friends next time, and will make reservations!

Came here for kbbq, and I have to say that the meat is marinated very well. 2 stars were taken away because our server didn’t know English and didn’t really know how long to cook the meat. I was lucky to have friends who were fluent in Cantonese to aid my inability to speak it. Don’t get me wrong, the server was a nice guy and wanted to do his job well, but an establishment in Eighth ave needs to have bilingual employees. The side dishes, such as the bibimbap were alright & the korean pancake is definitely better at 99 favor. DONOT get the spicy chicken because it tastes like kimchi marinade, unless you like that, but MAKESURETOGET the kalbi & short ribs.

Came here with my siblings to celebrate my brother’s birthday since he wanted to try someplace new. They had AYCE(All you can eat) sushi, hot pot and KBBQ. The decorations was pretty nice. The place itself took half of the block. The lady in the front desk was nice and she help me refrigerate the birthday cake and told us after eating they will bring the cake in. We did the AYCE hot pot and we were seated inside one of the rooms. It was the first time I had to stand out to request for services(to add food and add more water to our soup). They kept forgetting 40% of what we ordered and the waiter did not even apologize and instead just stated that the two waiter was assign to take orders from this side’s room yet they barely came to our room. After all the hot pot’s meat was not very fresh(the color of beef was dark red), the vegetables was not cleaned very well and the overall experience was just terrible. The management was horrible and service was close to no services. It took them like 15 minutes to give us our bill, even though they did deducted 1 person off the bill(for my brother’s birthday) but we could of went to 99 Flavor and be happy and satisfy. I went to the lady from the front desk to get back the cake and she asked me why we aren’t eating our cake here…, hopefully she noticed my face entering here and leaving here is two extremely different expressions.

Let me start by saying the place is under staffed. Our pot had so little soup that we couldn’t really cook anything in there, not even that, it was very hard to get a refill of water. We flagged down whoever we could for help, but the guys were just too busy, the help button at the end of the table was no point. Anyways, we had their tube bone soup base for hot pot — plain soup which had lots of pork flavor. The plates always comes out(when we do get the chance to put an order in) with half the stuff we checked off. I do enjoy the pretty presentation of the food, though. I tried fish noodles for the very first time, had a chewy texture and really does tastes like fish(isn’t as bad as it sounds). Food looked fresh, and cleaned properly. For dessert, I did not expect to see fruits which included fresh watermelon! On the other hand, the red date snow fungus soup was bland. Eventually, we made it through our meal and left with our tummies full and a happy wallet.
