Lovely experience prices are a little high

I’ve been looking for a new salon where I felt comfortable with the stylists, the end results, and was affordable. Thanks to Groupon, I finally found it!!! This place is great! After a deep conditioning treatment, Sandy gave me a fantastic long bob and she talked me through each step of the process (because losing 7 inches of my hair had the possibility of being traumatic… but not this time!). Everyone here is so nice and friendly – not to mention professional – and when I asked a question, they answered thoroughly. Seeing all the services they offer on their «menu,» I will definitely return!!! And just so you’re aware, tips can’t be added to a credit card receipt.

What a wonderful gem! Colleen the owner, and Sue the beautician who did my facial waxing, were nothing short of professional, informative, and a class act, and of course a job very well done. They answered all of my questions and were extremely helpful for suggesting affordable yet effective products for after my service. Thank you for such a positive experience, I will definitely be back!

This review is for a haircut and pedicure that I got on separate visits.
The owner is very nice and friendly. The salon is conveniently located and has a parking lot right out front. The inside is cute and seemed clean.
The first time I went to this salon it was for a cut, color, and blowdry with Emily. She was very nice and did a great job with my cut, color and also blowdry! I loved the end result and would have gone back to her. Unfortunately, she had very long, pointy, sharp nails that repeatedly stabbed me in the head! Needless to say, it was not very relaxing at all. At first I didn’t know what was jabbing me. I had a feeling it was her nails and then I confirmed that when I saw them. I would think that’s one of the first things they teach you in beauty school – cut your nails or at least don’t have pointy, sharp ones! If she doesn’t know any better because she’s young, and/​or inexperienced, then it’s the owner’s job to tell her. The owner doesn’t do hair so maybe she doesn’t realize it either. I don’t know. I cannot believe that no one else has had the same issue or complained about her nails. Maybe they did, and like me never said anything, but never went back to her either. She also used cold water to wash my hair so I had to ask her to make if hotter, instead of her asking me if the temperature was ok. Then she removed the hair color from around my hairline while I was still lying back, so my neck started to hurt after a while. The sinks are not adjustable so they are uncomfortable. The end result was great but I would never go back to her, which is too bad, but it’s all the little things that add up to a great or not so great experience.
I decided to go back and try this salon for a pedicure since they are so close by and the owner was nice.
They have 3 levels/​types of pedicures. I got the middle one, the «Classic Spa Pedicure» for $ 45. The woman, Grace, who did my pedicure was very nice. There are only 2 pedicure stations and they are in a separate room from the rest of the salon which I thought was nice. However, people kept walking through to get to the back where the bathroom is I guess, leaving the door open so I could hear the salon noise, (I had to ask if she would close the door),
talking to Grace as they went on their way to the back, and one employee even sat down in a chair in the room and complained how tired she was while I was getting my pedicure. I don’t want to hear that when I’m trying to relax! There was spa music from
Pandora playing on a computer which was nice, until loud commercials came on
every 10 – 15 minutes. I even commented on that to Grace. She didn’t seem to get that I was complaining in a nice way.
Anyway, the pedicure included a soak, cuticle shaping, scrub, lotion rub, and polish. It was the same as you’d get in any run-​of-​the-​mill nail place minus the blaring TV they all seem to have now. It was a decent pedicure but there was nothing special about it for $ 45. The foot/​leg massage was good but not wonderful. They do pretty much the same thing at most nail salons (and sometimes include a hot stone massage) for about the $ 22-​$ 32 range. If I’m going to pay $ 45 for a pedicure at a mid range salon then the room needs to be private, quiet, and relaxing. They should also at least offer water, coffee/​tea to drink, and some kind of snacks. Many times people come after work and they’re thirsty and hungry. It’s all the amenities that add up to create excellent customer service and keep clients coming back.
Both times I came to this salon, first on a Thursday night for my hair, then on a beautiful, sunny Wednesday night for my pedicure, it was not very busy. I had no
appointment for my pedicure, called ahead, came in 10 minutes later, and didn’t have to wait. That was great for me but I was surprised by it. Now I know why! Grace was telling me that they get really slow in the Summer for pedicures, especially on the weekends, because people go down the shore. While that may be true, not everyone goes down the shore, and isn’t Summer when most people get pedicures? Many salons are the busiest for pedicures anyway, in the Summer. I think this salon charges too much for their pedicures so they either need to lower the prices, to at least $ 35 for the «Classic Spa Pedicure» or up the total experience/​amenities if they want repeat customers.
I really wanted to like this salon and there where things I did like about it, but for me my overall experiences were either mediocre and/​or not worth what they charged, so I won’t be going back. Customer service is key and you have to pay attention to details, try to give the client what you’d want to have for a great experience, and go above and beyond; especially when there is so much competition now with salons on almost every street. Maybe this review will help them. I hope it helps whoever reads it.

First I would like to say I did like my stylist, Emily. She was attentive, calm, and provided great service. My pet peeve is that another stylist jumped into the conversation we were having to tell Emily how to do my hair and complain about having a Groupon. I will not return because after I went home, I called a friend who is a stylist in California. She quickly told me that they needed to leave the color on the roots longer than they did or use a 30 volume with level 7 color to get them to match. If it weren’t for the other hair stylist, I would return. I’m not too fond on aggressive people who end up messing up my hair because I had a Groupon. If you don’t like Groupons then you shouldn’t offer them to the public.
I did end up going to another salon on Sunday and they got the hair just right in one single process!

With a teenage daughter who loves to frequently change hairstyles and colors, I need to keep an eye on groupons and sales to keep the budget balanced. So when a groupon popped up for High Maintenance, we grabbed it. The owner courteously replied to our online request for an appointment. Despite the client being a teenager, stylist Debra took time to consult with my daughter, show her lots of color choices to choose from, and engaged her the entire time. With her hair hobby, daughter has been to a number of salons in the area — high, medium and walk-​in. At this salon, the cut and color was hands down the best. And the bowl of Dove chocolates was another nice touch in this friendly, neighborhood salon. Everyone was really sweet, and daughter and mom agree that we’d go back even without a groupon!
