We specialize in obedience training and behavior modification. We want people to know that their dogs can be rehabilitated. We also want to teach people the right way to raise a puppy and the responsibility they have when they get a puppy. A puppy should receive training and socialization as soon as they are taken from their litter mates. This will help in our overall goal of dramatically reducing the amount of dogs that are surrendered because of behavior issues. Most puppies are surrendered due to behavior issues before their first birthday. All of the behavior issues they are surrendered for are preventable and they all can be fixed.

History

Established in 2015.

K-​9 State of Mind is owned and managed by an Operation Iraqi Freedom Veteran. Our company was started to help people with dogs that had behavioral issues and to dramatically reduce the amount of dogs surrendered to shelters for behavioral issues. K-​9 State of Mind was started by an entrepreneur with several goals in mind. We became a Limited Liability Company in September 2015.

Meet the Business Owner

Business Owner

I am the business owner, manager, and lead trainer at K-​9 State of Mind. I am an Operation Iraqi Freedom Veteran. I was in the Army for 3 ½ years. I was stationed in Alaska and did a one year tour in Iraq. I also served two years in the PA National Guard. I learned Military K-​9 training and Handling while working with a special forces team. After the Military I volunteered for 1 ½ years at the Delaware County SPCA. I was the offered a Canine care position at the shelter and worked in the kennels for 1 year. During this year I working with many shelter dogs. I worked on basic obedience, improving adaptability, behavior modification for dogs with behavioral issues, and Perception modification for dogs with fear or aggression issues. I fostered over 50 dogs. I worked with the foster dogs issues to make them more adoptable. I have been training pet dogs and some Therapy dogs since then. I’ve worked with every type of behavioral issue.
