A small food shack in Boothbay Harbor. I went in June 2016 and the market price for a lobster roll was $ 18. I think they only serve lobster rolls and hot dogs, but the lobster roll was excellent. None of that business of using coleslaw or lettuce to hide the lack of lobster meat here: this was basically an entire lobster on a hot dog roll. I was given some hot butter to drizzle on top, and a bag of chips. It was terrific. Fresh lobster and a nicely toasted roll and the whole thing was really delicious. Highly recommended as a quick stop when in the area.

A lobster roll is pretty nice for a reasonable price. You can enjoy bottled local soda as well.

This is our second consecutive year traveling up the coast of Maine single handily reducing the lobster population one day at a time. Our 2nd night in Maine was in Boothbay Harbor and the following day we found Shannon’s. Her mother was taking orders and explained if you wanted a lobster roll with butter we would be happy. If you wanted mayo then you would have to bring you own. The other options were a drink and potato chips. One interesting comment we heard from mom was Shannon did her research before opening this restaurant was to visit other restaurants and one she referenced was Red’s Eats. But she decided to limit the menu to only lobster. Since they are just over about 30 minutes apart we decided to do a taste test and stop at Red’s Eats on the way to Bar Harbor. See the review for Red’s for the winner.

We didn’t expect to find them open, but they were. If may be a hefty sum for two lunches, but I thoroughly enjoyed a lobster roll that actually allows the fresh, sweet lobster to be the star of the show! The digs aren’t fancy, but the staff really want to be sure you are enjoying yourself. If you like lobster, belly up to the picnic table; this is a roll to remember!

Shannon has got this lobster roll thing nailed! She serves the best lobster roll in my book and has now taken the lead from my usual haunt. I came specifically to Maine for the day to try her place and I could have eaten 2 more! Buttered spilt roll with 6oz+ of perfectly cooked CHUNKS of lobster meat and claw simply prepared with clarified butter. Shop is very clean and she has the picnic area playfully decorated giving a fun theme to the usual bland eating areas. It is clear Shannon takes great pride in her little eatery, loves her job and enjoys chatting with her customers. She told me she sells out quickly as she has to ‘pre-order’ her lobsters from her supplier a couple of days ahead estimating patronage to ensure freshness each day– so she needs ample notice to accommodate large groups or parties.

It’s all true. This is the best lobster roll anywhere, if you love lobster rolls with hot butter(and I do!) theres at least one entire lobster on the roll and it comes with an edible flour and a side of butter. It’s a sweet, delicious roll that you’ll compare every other lobster roll to.(true story: went to Bite Into Maine two days later. They’re outside of Portland and get all the buzz for their lobster rolls, but they didn’t hold a candle to this one!)

Delicious lobster roll. No frills establishment. Tons of lobster meat– no mayo. Almost as good as dolphin marina. Not to be missed if in boothbay.

The shizzle. The lobster roll was the best that we’ve had – toasted roll and a s**t load of lobster. She includes claw AND tail. I think that there was more than an entire lobster in it. Superb. Lots of other places we went to were just as pricey and not near the quality. Oh, and Shannon is super sweet to boot. Nailed it.

I can’t say enough good things about this business. The ladies are so nice and the place is as casual as it gets — outdoor seating on picnic tables. The lobster is tender and each sandwich has huge chunks of tail and claw with clarified butter on the side. We have been back twice during out one week here and already plan to stop again on the way out of town.

Fantastic! A hidden gem in the heart of boothbay harbor. A generous amount of lobster, served cold with warm butter on side and authentic roll. The little shack opens at 11am with friendly service from proprietor herself, Shannon. If you visit BBH, this is a must stop for traditional lobster roll.

Perhaps best lobster roll on earth! Claw meat overstuffed toasted roll. Blended with the shell and sound of the ocean — perfection! Family favorite. See you again next summer! Thanks!

The butter no lettuce lobster roll. If this is your preferred combination then this is your pinnacle. Quaint atmosphere with a view of the water, good service, and picnic benches. Lobster roll was buttered lobster with a buttered roll with a side of butter. If you want less salt, don’t use the side of butter.

Shannon’s is a lobster roll specialist — there’s no other food on the menu — so the lob roll must deliver. Boom! Pristine lobster meat piled on a grilled bun with melted butter on the side if needed. That’s it. Perfection. When in BBH, do not miss this place.

I am currently sitting outside of Shannon’s and just enjoyed the greatest lobster roll I’ve ever had! The lobster rolls are fresh and delicious and the staff is incredibly friendly. Not just a «what would you like» but actually hold a conversation with you and make you feel welcome! I like this place too because you can get your lobster roll over a bed of lettuce instead of the bun if you are gluten intolerant. Definitely would give this place 6 stars if I could!

Dedicated lobster roll shack next to water. Perfect! Unilocal FTW! No mayo, just tons of meat and a side of clarified butter. Stop reading. Go!
