History

Established in 2014.

When I tell people the name of my shop on Main Street in Boonton they almost always ask: «Time’s Tin Cup? What does that mean?»

Simply put, the shop is the realization of dreams that I’ve had since I was a child. It is a place where I can share my interests: art, artifacts, trinkets and books. The name Time’s Tin Cup represents that mixture for me. The tin cup is an artifact from days of old. Artists would use it to mix turpentine and linseed oil as a painting medium. During the Depression era, tin cups were used to beg for a dime. And, of course clocks are the quintessential representation of time. The shop logo grabs hold of these images. Truly, it’s all about time and place!

Business Owner

Growing up in Baltimore City, I lived next door to an older woman who was an artist. When she passed away, I was surprised to see her sons throw away so many of her things. Items appeared on the curb day after day. The trash cans were full and ready to be taken to the landfill. I spent those mornings sifting through her colorful artifacts. They were treasures. Ornate boxes, illustrations, post cards, jewelry and just about anything you would expect to find coming out of an artist’s studio and home. I still have many of these objects and they are cherished.

Time’s Tin Cup on Main Street is packed with similar vintage curiosities and collectibles, small furniture, artwork and things that have cultural resonance. Truly, everything but the kitchen sink is here. From hoosiers to hula hoops, wooden mice to brass elephants. You never know what you’ll find. In addition to the treasures I find while out and about the region, I am taking items on consignment.

The shop is also my studio.
