Cask & Kettle Home Brew

Cask & Kettle is the perfect place for the beginner to advanced homebrewer to get supplies. They have every brewing ingredient you could possibly need from the obvious hops and malt, which they will mill for you, to advanced items like issenglas. They also have every brewing supply including kits, kettles, bottles, and bottling systems. Most importantly, the staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. I thought I knew mostly what I would need, but ended up having a few questions and had them all easily answered. I even picked up a few items I didn’t realize I needed. They even helped me with some suggestions for the recipe I was working on.

Big fan. A one stop local shop with everything you need from hardware, ingredients and knowledge. The Joes knows.

I can’t say enough good things about this place. Great place if you’re a novice and want to learn how to brew on the premises and they also supply a wide range of equipment and support for the seasoned home brewer. They also offer more focused, in-​depth classes in home brewing techniques.
The owner, Joe, is always friendly and welcoming and will rarely let you leave without striking up a conversation and asking about your brewing exploits.
I always look forward to my visits to Cask & Kettle.

I came here as part of a team building exercise for work… a get out of the office and have some fun together sort of thing (yes, my bosses are awesome, but that’s a different review). While I cannot speak to the cost, since I have no idea what our group of about 20 paid, I can say that the experience was entirely awesome. The place is kind of small and hidden (but that’s definitely part of its charm), so all 20 of us couldn’t go at once, but that’s no problem since most people don’t go in groups of 20 to brew beer. The space is super clean and the guy that helped us (I’m sorry I can’t remember his name but he had long dark curlyish hair) was really cool, really helpful and fun to chat with while we made our beers. He did a great job explaining each step to us and telling us about the entire process. He was very knowledgeable about both the process and industry (and history!) and super down to earth and funny. He definitely made the experience better; and he let us do most of the hands on work so we felt like we were really making the beer. I had no idea a place like this was around the area and it’s a great find. I would absolutely go back with a small group of friends or my siblings to make some beer (or hopefully wine!) and recommend it for anyone looking for a different weekend activity. Also, I immediately thought that this place is a cool idea for home made holiday presents (of alcohol, obviously) and I think I’ll be back to do this for Christmas!!! Just give yourself 6 weeks time for the entire process (you will not leave with a finished product after your first visit, I believe it takes two times, a month apart, and then you bring the beer home and let it sit for two weeks). Seemed like they had a great selection of what you could make and each of us went home with 30 bottles. Five stars for sure, and I’ll be back and trying to rope friends into going with me! Cask & Kettle gained a customer and a fan!

If you brew beer at any level or capacity, you must visit this place. The staff is super knowledgeable and there is an abundant selection of yeast, grain, and brewing supplies. Can’t wait to brew another batch!

Not only does Cask & Kettle have absolutely everything that you need for home brewing, but they also offer brewing on premises so that if you’re just getting into home brewing, you can try it first, versus buying all of the equipment, only to find that you prefer drinking to brewing beer. You can buy kits, supplies, grains, hops, kettles, literally whatever you need to make beer.
The brew on premises was an awesome experience — it started with a four hour day (you register in advance for a date/​time that works for you, but are told that it’ll take ~4 hours to get the process started).
On the first day (where you can BYO for the down time), you select the type of beer you want to make, and are walked through every single step of the process, doing a lot of it on your own after you receive direction (versus someone doing it for you and talking as THEY do it).
You come back on a later day (Cask & Kettle store your beer for this time period of at least 2 weeks) to bottle and cap your beer, and end up leaving with 48 bottles of beer you’ve brewed yourself (depending on the ingredients used, the whole experience/​process can vary in time and price, but is around $ 120-​$ 160 for everything).
You pay a bottle fee for the ones used, but that’s the only additional cost on the last day (and is factored into that total estimate listed above).
You can tell that everyone employed there LOVES beer and is incredibly passionate about it (which is great for a homebrew shop, believe it or not).
I couldn’t recommend a better place to get into homebrewing, or to pick up supplies.

This is THE best home brew store in NJ. I’ve been to a lot of shops in the tri-​state area, and you are not going to beat Joe’s Cask and Kettle. He has a huge selection, totally fair prices, excellent organization and presentation, and the staff/​owner are all very very friendly and helpful. There is also a newly installed and fully working brew on premises that he keeps meticulously clean.
If you’re a home brew fanatic, I highly recommend you stop in and say hi, you won’t regret it. As a bonus, one of the best craft beer liquor stores in North jersey is right down the street, The Liquor Outlet.

This is the second home brewing supply store that I’ve been to, and all I can say is… WOW! This store has everything and I mean everything that you need for craft beer making and home wine making!
My brother and I were going to make our second home brew and were looking for another brew kit before building up confidence in making beer from a recipe. The store has a variety of home brew kits; this time we went with the Dunkelweizen.
The amount of loose grains, hops, malts, and yeasts that they have is insane! They have an entire refrigerator dedicated to all of their hops and yeasts. There’s grains and hops that they carry that I’ve never even heard of and tons of liquid and dry malts! Another cool thing is that all the loose grains sold in the store can be milled up right on premise.
The equipment selection is very extensive; there’s stuff that I’ve never heard of before. The prices for their equipment is cheapest that I’ve seen so far! We picked up a second glass carboy for only $ 35!
What’s cool about this place is the fact that they have classes. They offer beer making classes for people that are new to home brewing and specialty beer making. Their classes not only cover beer making, they have classes that cover designing your own beer and even a class on how to grow and cultivate your own hops!
If you still have some trepidation about making a home brew, they offer a brew on premise which will let you make your first brew with a beer brewing expert.
They also, host a homebrew club that meets once a month at the store. Which is nice if you want to meet other home brewers and exchange tips and ideas with.
This is thee Home brewing store and is definitely going to be my go to place for home brewing!

Came here for 2 brewing sessions last year and learned a lot about basic brewing. The owners, Mike and Joe, are very knowledgeable and pleasant. The brew sessions are very informal and you can bring your own beer and food while you brew! They have TV too (for you sports fans). But when you’re so immersed in learning more about beer, there’s no time to watch tv.
Aside from brewing, they also offer mini courses on the weekends, like intro to all grain brewing. Check out their website for more classes. These full up fast.
They also carry ingredients and equipment, and kits from Brewers Best.

Hubby started home-​brewing a few years back, when there was only one huge place in Clifton, with a clueless staff. When we found Cask and Kettle around the time of their grand opening, who knew hubby would be there at least once a month! The prices are comparable to all the other places and online, and the staff there (Joe and Mike) are exceptionally knowledgeable and friendly, and very helpful. They always have a smile and are always willing to answer questions, or even order items that aren’t stocked. We took a beer-​tasting class a few weeks ago, and that was a lot of fun — we got to sample some of the store’s own ‘home-​brews’, which were quite tasty, and learned a thing or 2 about our palates. I would highly recommend this store to any home brewer (they even have some supplied for the wine enthusiasts!) — they carry everything from the boxed kits for beer, to the malts and the grains, and even the spices (which are cheaper than most grocery stores!).

This is the place to go when in NJ for home brew supplies. Great grain area. Decent amount of brewing supplies. Really nice brew area if you want to do it there. And helpful service. Life savers! Discuss recipes with the staff too. Helpful suggestions.

New to homebrewing — popped in a few days ago to pick up a few things. Was helped by Mike and Joe — both very helpful and great guys. Will definitely be back!!!

The place is nice and very clean. I cannot comment on their prices, because they do not have a price listed on anything. I tried to find prices but they have to look them up and that guy was busy. So I left, without buying anything.
Would it be so hard to put prices up?

The Cask and Kettle is a great place to pick up any of your brewing supplies. They have always had what I have needed in the past. They have a supply of fresh yeast as well as dry packs, grains and equipments ranging from small pieces to whole kits.
The guy behind the counter whom I assume is the owner is super nice and knowledgeable. If you need to pick anything up or are just looking to start brewing defiantly check this place out.
Also from what I heard the owner say they are the busiest around noon and 6pm on the week days. Problem from people going on there lunch and when they get out of work.
