The Trout and Barrel is a restaurant and bar in Boone, North Carolina that strives to be more than just that by providing meaningful experiences to its customers. After opening just recently in May 2015, the Trout and Barrel has received near-unanimous rave reviews.
Whether it is the innovative surf ‘n turf food options that you can get here and nowhere else (just ask about our Trout Wings and Fried Brussel Sprouts with Sausage), the plethora of drink selections that we have, such as the fan favorite Steigl Radler grapefruit beer, or the expansive list of bands we have playing every month, from contemporary jazz to reggae to country to shoegaze rock to hard rock, we’re sure you’ll find a good reason to love us, just like our past customers have.

History
Established in 2015.
Jonathan Proctor is a local Boone native who has established his name within the community as an accomplished pilot. He has flown around the world via the Piedmont Airlines and FedEx Feeder for about twelve years.
After settling down and forming a family, Jonathan decided that the lifestyle of constantly traveling, day in and day out, that comes with being a pilot was no longer for him. Upon this revelation, the dream of creating a restaurant that has the potential to be one of Boone’s greatest places to be came into fruition.
Jonathan bought the building on Highway 105, between the University Highlands and The Cottages, and his closest friends, family members, and associates began doing the hard work of remodeling and rebuilding a barren space to fit the vision that Jonathan had.
After months and months… and months of hard work, sweat, laughter, confusion, and learning, the Trout and Barrel was finally finished and open for business in May 2015.

Jonathan Proctor is the owner of the Trout and Barrel, but he is very much a hands-on owner; often times, you can see him serving drinks and foods and conversing with customers and making sure that they’re taken care of, like any good owner should do. Come stop by and talk to him!
