Mellow Mushroom

The Mellow in Boone is the best bar in town. They have the largest and best beer selection that rotates every week. The pizza is amazing, especially the mighty meaty. The people are great and the regulars are a lot of fun. Definitely a highlight of the Boone area.

Always great service and awesome food. Can’t say enough about this Mellow Mushroom. I’ve been to many Mellow Mushroom locations, and I have to say, the Boone and Blowing Rock locations are hands down the best. While Mellow is technically a «chain», each restaurant is locally owned. So you are supporting local business by dinning at a Mellow Mushroom. Definitely a must in Boone! Best pizza in town!

Nice Mellow Mushroom, great service and good food. Lots of local beer on tap, and a few clever drink specials. Neat location as well, right on the main street in Boone.
I had the Thai Dye pizza w/​o the onions, really good! My husband and son had calzones, my other son had the meatball sub, and my daughter had the kids french bread pizza. Everyone was happy with their meals.

Great place for a family meal. Had a great time with great food. House special pizza was spectacular. A variety of different specialty pies adds to the great experience by introducing some pizzas that you don’t normally try at other restaurants.

Don’t get me wrong here, you get the same quality pizza you get at ANY Mellow Mushroom, but if you want to pay less than half the price for the best pizza in Boone ya gotta go to Murphy’s. It’s practically across the street. Just don’t park in the parking lot between them or you’ll get towed.

Interesting décor and good food. Lots of organic and vegan food choices. Pizza are wonderful, pepperoni is on the spicy side but added lots of flavor and goodness. I was surprised when I found that is was a chain restaurant. Seemed more like a custom and local place to hang out and get great food to boot!

I love Mellow Mushroom but this location was sub-​par.
Bad service and horrible bloody Mary’s. I don’t think the bartender has ever made one before. We had to wait a long time to get waters after that and after getting the food I don’t think the server came back once before us requesting the check.
Pizza was good though of course.

Very friendly service. The pizza was not the best I have ever had. The kids menu is well priced for the portion size. The fountain drinks and tea are overpriced based on other places.

Yummy but not super flavorful. Very filling! Look for coupons for free cheese bread before you come. Great, friendly service!

Mellow Mushroom is consistently good every time and no matter which location you go to. This location was no exception. This one had exceptional service. The garlic parmesan pretzels were yummy. The pizza was delicious! Great sweet tea too. Nice location downtown on King Street near lots of neat shops. Plenty of parking nearby. I would recommend this to anyone!

We love Mellow Mushroom! I love the atmosphere, the relaxed staff, the drink selection and (of course) the food! I’ve never had something I didn’t like.

Super constant with quality of pizza and variety of beer.
I really liked how they had some local specific food menus items.
Started things off with the hob nob appetizer which had hummus, balsamic reduction, chopped totamatoes/​cucumber with pita and bread. (Reaffirming the fact that I’ll never be gluten free)
Then we had a half and half pie with the Thai Die which always is awesome and a local favorite Sponda… Very long name… Which was spicy but probably my favorite pizza I’ve had here.
Coming back for more.

I mean, mellow mushroom is the best chain pizza hands down… this is a fun place, great décor and a huge fireplace right in the middle of the restaurant. Staff was good… all college kids I imagine. Hard to beat mellow mushroom!

I want to start out by saying, I love the pizza from Mellow Mushroom! They use a spring water dough that is awesome. However, the only complaint I have is their prices. On average a large pizza is $ 23.99−26.99. Don’t get me wrong the pizza is GREAT, but I think nearly 30 bucks after tax, for ONE pizza is crazy! That being said if you don’t mind to spend a little extra, the pizza wont disappoint! They also have a great atmosphere and a bar with a pretty good selection of beer! So grab 3 friends (to split the price with) and give Mellow Mushroom a try!

Best gluten free pizza!!! You would never know it doesn’t have gluten. We’ve had great service every time we’ve gone and will continue to go back.

After dining at Mellow Mushroom Blowing Rock, we had dinner at the Boone location on Saturday night the 5^th. The layout in this location is a bit different, more seats, but maybe a bit TOO open in floor plan. It appeared to me that tables were moved around, chairs were everywhere, just looked a bit unorganized in the main area.
I really can’t add much from the previous Blowing Rock review. Service here was good, and she was very pleasant. Moved things at a good pace, but non rushed. Food was good and well prepared. Even had tortilla soup again, and noted how they put the sour cream in the soup was the same way as in Blowing Rock (much better presentation at these locations with the soup than in Atlanta when they just throw a dollop of sour cream in the soup, or worse yet, bring it on the side).
Resort prices prevailed again here in Boone. I fully expected that. Another four stars, and I would come back again, but if I have my choice, I would go to Blowing Rock over this location (exception might be when students are here if one is into coed viewing).

A group of friends came up here to celebrate a birthday celebration and it was a great atmosphere. The radio that was on played some of my favorite tunes. I had a specialty cocktail named Pineapple Express. I’m willing to taste new things and this drink had a kick to it. It was absolut vodka with chipotle and it was very well put. My friend had a specialty drink called the dreamcicle and it tasted just like orange Popsicles. He enjoyed it very well. For my appetizer I had a dish with spinach portobello mushrooms and artichoke hearts it had drizzled balsamic vinaigrette. It was an interesting dish but I enjoyed it. Just because it looks strange doesn’t mean it won’t taste awesome !! For my entrée I had the Boone goon. I’m not much of a pizza fan but it was a must have at mellow mushroom. I got a small and only ate one slice, very filling. Service was great.

Above average pizza. I have had better but this was quite good. We were there on a Friday night during graduation weekend and they were packed with an hour wait but that is not the norm. Service was good. Prices were slightly high. I’d give the pizza a solid 7 out of 10. Better than any big chain. Worth a try.

Over at the bar, I can’t say the service was great. Honestly the service was absolutely terrible, the manager laughed in our faces as we told him we had bad service and we asked for some type of treat in return. DO NOT GO HERE. I know this will be the last experience we have at the mellow mushroom bar area in Boone NC. Let the manager in the red shirt know what kind of service you had whether it be bad or good he doesn’t care. Disrespectful and rude to my partner on his birthday. NEVER AGAIN WILL WE PAY TO BE HUMILIATED. Could have been a good experience if the workers cared about the customers and appreciated their business.

My first encounter with the Mellow Mushroom chain came via this location in Boone. Located in downtown Boone I will tell you this place has your best selection of draft beers in town. If variety is what you are looking here for a draft beer, look no further.
We popped in for a bite before dinner and actually gobbled up the meatball appetizer. They were awesome. Pretty large too in case you are wondering. You only get 3 but it was enough for the two of us to split.
The interiors are like that of other locations I imagine. Warm woods, artsy feel to the place.
My only suggestion is get there early because this place is very popular!
