I would like to thank Raul for his service and excellent service and wonderful food that we received at your restaurant, thank you for the great experience.

Best service ever but dude… this food was awful the chips and salsa were horrific cold chewy chips and the salsa was ketchupy almost like they used tomatoe sauce, mole was sweet and tasted like cinnamon the barbacoa wasn’t bad but at this point I really wasn’t giving the food a chance. If I gave this rating on the service it would be 10 stars but food would be one for the acceptable tacos I sum this up to a generic Mexican experience, like if you can’t cook you’d eat this food. Father’s Day was ruined because of this, we couldn’t complain cause the service was amazing but we won’t be returning.

My family and I have been coming to this restaurant for years. The food isn’t necessarily anything spectacular but it’s always seemed like someplace we can all agree upon for a get together. I have to say in the last couple of years the service has plummeted! The same waiters have been there for probably the last 20 years and I get it, they are over that place. They’ve become disgruntled, angry, impatient, lacking integrity, everything that makes up a bad waiter. From my last visit to murrietas I have decided that I am never going back. On Father’s Day, my dad and I ate there for lunch. I first asked for 2 sets of silverware(since they were missing) and the waiter brought my father one only. So I asked again for mine. He seemed to have an issue with my margarita choice when he for the 3rd time asked me how I wanted it. I explained that all I really wanted was a classic margarita. Why give me shit? It’s what I want. So put the damn order in. The food came. As we were finishing our meal the waiter goes directly up to my dad and asks him in Spanish if he’d like dessert, he declines and the waiter walks away. Well hey I want dessert! And guess what? I’m playing for this lovely meal! So instead of acknowledging me as well and taking my dessert order(which would have increased his tip since I typically tip 25%~~ being in the industry makes you really appreciate good service) he decided it meant more to him to treat me like I’m nothing… Not even there. I’m sorry but this angered me beyond belief. Not only did he completely show disgusting lack of respect he messed with my dad’s Father’s Day because now I’m upset. I’ve never been treated this way nor should I ever! It’s a shame people like this still have jobs because I know there are a lot of people out there worthy of sprucing this place up with great work ethic and a gift for hospitality. I will NEVER go back. This place is a disgrace at this point. Good riddance.

SLOW service, mediocre food, and a generally disorganized staff made the dining experience a real let down. 12:30 on a weekday for lunch, with a party reservation for 20 + on the patio. Not prepared at all and it showed. The reservation was placed weeks in advance so there was no excuse. Sorry. One highlight: Beer was cold once it was finally served.

Met some coworker for and end of year Happy Hour here… it’s Mexican food and it’s in Chula Vista(Bonita to be specific). I blindly assumed that because of that it would be good… it’s tough finding good mexican food in north county, but I wouldn’t think it would be an issue down here. well…the food just wasn’t good… i took a few bites and just stopped… it wasn’t bad but it just wasn’t worth the calories… i ate the chips and salsa… which were good i had some tequila…$ 10 for tequila and soda water! it’s like Del Mar prices the outside patio was beautiful and we took over the entire space… for that it is a great place for large groups… just don’t expect to have an amazing meal… come here for the company. service was super friendly… servers were kind enough to give us our own bills(group of 40 people!) so in that department they killed it! they did forget a few orders here and there… but corrected quickly and with a smile… all stars go to service… i wouldn’t return unless my people insisted and i will stick to chips and salsa.

Lunch and dinner are fair– brunch is horrible — they have a lot to work on. We went in to use a brunch coupon. The food was served on a very hot plate but the food was cold — the cheese inside the omelet was not melted at all. It seemed like the plate was prepared the night before and it was not reheated enough. There was no one around to express our concerns. Terrible experience oh and the coffee was terrible as well. Three stars for past lunch and dinner experiences where at least my food was hot

I visited this restaurant on Mothers Day so I’m keeping that in mind while writing this review. It was extremely crowded. My family(6 people total) and I arrived around 9:45a-10:15a. They normally make you wait until your entire party is there before they seat you but they made an exception on this day which was awesome because my parents arrived first. I’m glad they were able to be seated quickly. I arrived about 5 min after my parents and the parking lot was full so I had to park in the neighboring businesses lot. Not too bad but the restaurant is on a hill so I’m glad I didn’t wear my heels like I planned. The atmosphere is awesome. They had a live singer walking around singing for a fee/donation. Our waiter didn’t write down our orders so he forgot some stuff and had to ask multiple times what we ordered. That was a bit annoying. The food arrived pretty quick even with it being super packed. It was delicious. A couple of us ordered the Champagne Brunch which includes 3 glasses of champagne along with your entrée of choice. They were only able to ask for a 2nd glass since the waiter was so busy with all the other tables in our section so that wasn’t very good. The women’s restroom was really bad. There’s only 2 stalls and one was broken and also very dirty. Not too happy about that. You can imagine the line. Overall, everyone was satisfied with their meals so it ended up being a good time.

Came here for Mother’s Day brunch and was very disappointed. I had no problem with the long wait because that’s expected for a weekend like this but after waiting 1 hour for our food the kids orders were served with cold fries. And the meal warm. I have been coming here for years but after today I will never come here again! Bad service all around. Also ordered the chorizo omelette off the brunch menu and when I received it there was no potatoes in it at all when menu stated they have some inside. So now I have to wait for them to correct it and prepare it with what was advertised on the menu which will now be 2 hours I’m sure finally got my omelette and the potatoes were not even cooked!!! so I sent them back and am now leaving on Mother’s Day without eating anything besides chips and salsa

The food was good, the waiter and hostess need customer service training, or different jobs… very rude. I’ve visited the La Mesa location, and they were super friendly there, not the case at the Bonita location. Live and learn, I won’t be back!

The service was really good and the waiters were very attentive. He offered to add more like juice to my Michelada because he could tell from looking at it that it was unbalanced. The food tasted really authentic as if they use fresh ingredients. I’d go again! Reasonably priced as well.

So we live in the Chula Vista /Bonita area and when all sorts of types of food are going around 5 people’s heads. Don’t leave it to me to decide because I’ll most likely ALWAYS choose Mexican. Especially if there’s complimentary chips and salsa! Which brings us all to this old traditional looking Mexican restaurant which I’m sure you’ve passed by plenty of times on Bonita road. EASTLAKE? BONITA? OLDCHULAVISTA? I’d say make your way over here lad! Sit you right away, customer service is so good it’s almost annoying because they check on you so much(which is great) your glasses will never each empty before they ask if you want a refill. Or while waiting, during and after always checking up to see how you like the food. And not just asking to pass time… Genuinely caring how WELL you like the food. Servers are exceptionally funny and OKAY The food. –SALSA is exquisite you’ll have the red and green which I’m not sure which ones better that makes you want to keep eating the food just because the salas so damn bomb. –ranchero burrito is humongous I only ate ¼th and is a wet burrito with guacamole and sour cream to the side. (I was thinking about ordering rolled tacos/flautas but they were like $ 15 and I couldn’t picture myself paying that much for rolled tacos knowing I can get them at a taco shop) I RECOMMENDGETTING the $ 14 jumbo bacon wrapped shrimp(a little pricey, I freakin know) but takes like 4 bites to finish one. This is just a good family hangout to talk and catch up and get SUPERFULL. Service is a 10

Worst service ever… been going there forever yet tonight crap service… waiter took our Order brought the food and then actually reached over the booth over my wife’s shoulder and DROPPED the check on the table… tried to get chips when they brought food and never got that… tried to get his attention while he laughed it up with the table across from us to order drinks and was ignored… actually counted he checked on the five times while we were being ignored… our bill was 46.60 and if I had had 46.60 in cash would have DROPPED it on the floor… complete JOKE

I have driven past Murrieta’s many times and finally my Mexican fix caught up to me. I was made curious by the nice relaxing appearing atmosphere from the outside. I looked up their website and the pictures and reviews looked great. Unfortunately for me, it was not as good as I had imagined. Chicken was dry, the skin was watery and not grilled as picture showed, the rellenos were watery and eggy. Even our dessert left room to be desired. The flan was way undercooked. Beautiful atmosphere and seating but the food at the end of the day just didn’t deliver. Too bad

This is a great mexican place for family outings. I take the in-laws here when in town. Service is normally very good. Food is nice. Comes out fast. and some really good flavor options. The only downside of this restaurant is the annoying Mexican Mariachi bands. I know that it is a mexican restaurant but this is a family establishment in Bonita not tijuana mexico…

I had a great dining experience at Murrieta’s in October 2015. I had been wanting to come here for sometime since the ad they put in the Get 1 Free mailer is very enticing. My girlfriend and I used the coupon from the mailer to get the Sunday brunch and it was very delicious. I had the huevos rancheros and wine and she had las chilaquiles and coffee. The food and drinks were very delicious and definitely worth a return. The facility has a rectangular setup with a bar in the front and a long hallway leading to indoor and outdoor seating. The deer head gives off a bucolic feel, while the Mexican flags and prints give off south of the border. The service was very attentive and helpful. I took away a star because the bathroom seemed to be a bit dated.

I’ve been eating here for many years, back in the mid 90’s was the first visit. Loved it then, love it now. Most recent visit was 2 hours ago for an early Mother’s Day dinner with my boys. The service was wonderful, as it always is. The food delicious. Chips and Salsa free flowing the entire time, I love it so much I order a bag of chips and salsa to go home with me. The hot carrots are awesome, oh, and they serve a green and red salsa. Be careful, it’s very easy to over eat the chips and salsa, it’s so good! Today I had my usual Enchilada Suizas,(Chicken enchiladas with green sauce) served with Rice and Corn. My boys are always happy with their meal and rarely have any left to take home. Serving size borders on being more than enough to just the right amount. Servers are great, very kind and polite, total professionals. We’ve had birthdays here and they bring a birthday ice cream treat out with a candle and a big Mexican hat for the birthday person and they sing happy birthday!!! Not many places do that these days, so it’s very meaningful in my opinion. They also have the musician(s) that play music and sing at your table if requested, tonight I had them sing«Guantanamera»! Classic! You can eat inside or on the patio. On warm days it’s nice to be on the patio. We’ve ordered everything from enchiladas plates, sizzling fajitas, chili rellenos, Shrimp Ceviche, Chicken Fajitas, all were delicious. Only Con: Could use some updating inside and on the patio. Overall very nice classic Mexican Restaurant with great food and service.
