We had our overdue 29yr old furnace go out on us on a Friday. I talked to Steve that afternoon. He gave me very fair price and didn’t oversell me on a furnace I didn’t need. His price was right on line vs other quotes. He came out the next day when the furnace arrived to give us more information and to introduce himself. I could have not asked for a nicer guy or better service from his team. I am planning on getting a new AC very soon and will not look elsewhere as I could not be happier! They exceeded all my expectations which were high as I used to be a General Contractor.

These guys did a great job. I threw every side ball question at him. Like can I upsize my coil, not the whole system. He knew better, but I think he knew I was testing too. I got the best brand and system so the wife can bake all summer.

We asked a neighbor for a recommendation when needing our furnace and AC replaced and they recommended this group. We got a quote from another couple places with some good online reviews. Sooooo glad we chose Home Comfort. 1. They were the most reasonable quote. 2. They were offering to do more than the other places. 3. The work they actually did was done well– done much better than the system we were replacing. 4. They are knowledgeable– with some recent storms we had a few questions and called them– they were available with answers and help. 5. They didn’t try to upsell us or overcharge for all the work they did.
We have some persons in our family that are retired from this line of work– not only was I told that work we got done was done exceptionally well, I was also told we got a great deal. We’ve had the unit in place just under a month, through bad storms, and it’s running great with no problems with any of the lines they ran or installation (we got American Standard units).
So, if you are in our western suburban area, consider this me passing along a really great referral from one neighbor to another.

I hate to write a positive review about this place, but only because I’m selfish. The bottom line is that this is the only company you should using for your furnace and A/​C needs. They’ve exceeded my expectations everytime I’ve used them, and I’ve been using them for nearly 20 years. From newly installed A/​C and furnaces to a Zoned System that FINALLY cooled the master bedroom. Steve is top notch.

We received several quotes for a new dual furnace system. Steve’s quote was substantially lower than all of the other quotes. In fact, it was so much lower that I was nervous to use him. But, I did a lot of research and all the reviews were fantastic. Steve and his crew lived up to their reputation. They came in, efficiently did the job, and there were no hidden costs. Through the end of the project, Steve treated me more like a close friend than a potential customer. If you could clone a home services expert, Steve is the one I would recommend.

I called Steve to get a price on a heating system for my garage. He came out the next day and was very knowledgeable and explained everything and most of all he listened to what I wanted. The two installers were very professional and neat. They arrived on time and had all the install done a reasonable amount of time. The heating unit works great. My A/​C system had some issues a few years after being installed in a new town home. I tried a few different services — all of them gave vague explanations of the issue, always offering overpriced solutions. I then tried Home Comfort Systems, and was shocked by the level of service. Mike not only took the time to explain the issue with the system, but walked me through how he identified it. His services were very affordable, and have called him for all of my heating and A/​C issues since. I highly recommend giving them a call.

I am selling my home and the inspector ‘claims” that a flue pipe needed to be changed to a slightly different pitch angle. I investigated the flue with a general contractor and saw no need to change the pitch because it met building specs.
The system was installed in 2007 by Home Comfort Systems. I told them about the inspector’s report. They agreed with me that nothing was wrong upon their inspection.
However, to show good faith, HCS replaced the flue pipe with one at a greater pitch.
Steve, one of the owners, and one of his workers were very efficient and considerate.
The work was completed on a highly professional manner and may I say the workmanship was excellent.
If I stayed in the area, I would not hesitate to make these guys my main contact for HVAC and furnace installations and services.

I bought a house in April 2010 that had a 15-​year-​old, 80%-efficient and somewhat neglected gas furnace, with no central air. In the middle of the hot summer of 2010, I decided I wasn’t going to tolerate life without central air any longer. One of my neighbors recommended Home Comfort Systems, and I had also read good things about them on Angie’s List.
I initially just wanted to see if they could add central air to my existing furnace, but I was aware it would probably make more sense to just replace it and install AC with a new furnace. Steve came over and gave me a quote for a new 95%-efficient furnace and AC, with a generous referral discount that easily beat everyone else. Since I did this during 2010, I was also able to get a $ 1,500 tax credit and a $ 250 rebate from Nicor. I took advantage of the 12 months interest-​free financing through the Home Comfort Systems relationship with Wells Fargo Home Projects Visa. Steve made it clear that he didn’t want a deposit; he wouldn’t even ask for payment until the system was installed, fully functional, and we were satisfied with it.
The system has been 100% trouble-​free since installation. The only glitch was that Steve called me very early on the morning of the scheduled installation to tell me that they couldn’t install that day because one of his installers had missed a flight back from vacation, and they would have to reschedule. This was really not a big deal for me; I was disappointed, but we just had to delay it for a week.

Our furnace was working intermittently and Home Comfort Systems came out, assessed the problem and fixed it. Steve and Mike both warned us by saying the repair may not be permanent and that the furnace most likely needed to be replaced. They were right… in less than two days the furnace started acting up again. Since the furnace was already 12+ years old and we were getting ready to go on vacation, (it was going to be below freezing every night we were gone), we opted to get a new furnace.
WOW! We couldn’t be happier with this new furnace. For the first time since we lived here, it’s not cold throughout the house. It’s a very high efficiency furnace and we also put on a humidifier. We have had the furnace for two years now and have been very pleased with it. Over the summer one of the grills on the outside piping rusted out and Mike came out and replaced it really fast.
I seriously love this company — their customer service, their dependable product, fair pricing and honesty. I wish all companies would be as terrific as this company is.

I was referred to home comfort systems by a neighbor. They were able to walk me through a complicated fix of my furnace. It is getting cold out and my wife likes the house warm. They saved me a service call, I will have them out for a tune up soon. Thanks for the help

I found Home Comfort Systems through Angie’s List after two extremely negative experiences with other companies that had high ratings on Unilocal and Google reviews. The first company tried to tell me that my freon was low and that I needed a dual capacitor switch. He wanted to charge me an additional $ 550 on top of the cost of the tune-​up. The second company fiddled with the unit and told me the first guy lied, and I needed a new compressor ($ 500 to $ 1,000) or a new system. So, I asked a friend to look on Angie’s List, and started soliciting quotes on a new system. Steve at Home Comfort gave me the lowest quote AND he told me, «If you were my daughter, I would tell you to wait until the system breaks before replacing it. It might actually last the rest of the summer.» I was completely floored. He totally could have sold me a new system right then and there. 5 stars for being honest and not taking advantage of a female like the other two companies tried to do.
Also, to the person who gave this company a negative review, are you sure you don’t work for a competitor? Home Comfort Systems has 100% positive/​A ratings on Angie’s List and zero complaints with the Better Business Bureau.

I really dislike getting estimates and making a decision about home improvement companies. Home Comfort Systems renewed by faith when it comes to dealing with an honest and trustworthy HVAC company.
Steve who is one of the owners explained how a properly installed furnace and AC should function. He is extremely knowledgeable and provides great service. He asked what we wanted in a system and didn’t try to up-​sell us to extras that we weren’t interested in, something the other companies tried to do. He didn’t ask for any money down and doesn’t require yearly service agreements to maintain the warranty. Once again something the other companies all required. The estimate was similar to the other guys.
What a fabulous family owned and operated business!

I have and will continue to recommend Home Comfort Systems to everyone I know. They installed a new furnace, humidifier and air conditioner for us 4+ years ago and have provided terrific service for us ever since.
One of the owners, Steve, performed the install himself and was very informative and did great work. His brother Mike handles the service work and has always been prompt, professional and helpful.

The tech Mike, is very helpful. However, i tried to schedule a home repair service and was scheduled to come between 8 am to 6 pm… and He cannot call until he is on the way…
The scheduling part turned me away because i cannot take a whole day off from work and wait when he will come in. This just seems unreasonable to me. I’ve had other service tech schedule me in between a two hour window but this is the first time i was given a 10 hour window…

We’ve been using Mike and Steve’s services for HVAC since approximately 2001 when our first home’s furnace was experiencing «roll out». For those of you who are not familiar with this «exciting» but potentially dangerous phenomenon it occurs when the furnace calls for heat, starts the gas flow and the ignitor is «delayed» for whatever reason. (I’m sure there was a good reason, but can’t recall it at this point). So that small cloud of natural gas gets ignited calling a mini explosion that roll’s out of the front of your furnace. The could not leave it that way based on their high level of ethics and put in a brand new gas valve for no charge, since at the point we decided to buy a new furnace, since there was also a good chance of a cracked heat exchanger (which, now that I think about it MAY have had something to do with the roll out). Nonetheless, with a week they were back and installed the new competitively priced furnace. They have a brand they prefer to work with «American Standard» and we went with their recommendation based on our warranty claim, reliability research results. No issues with that furnace. Going forward over the next few years, we used their emergency repair service when an investment property of ours had a failed blower. In the middle of Chicago February, the very responsible and understanding tenant let us know that my earlier attempts to keep the furnace running (based on a phone consultation with Mike) failed. He had gone to his parents to get warm while I called the HCS hotline that is «manned» 24/​7, by competent, professional and mostly courteous folks. Mike said he would be there that night between 11 and 3am… I believe (again, this was years ago). I bundled up and watched the thermostat fall. He arrived a few hours later and in about 30 minutes had the new motor installed and the furnace back running and it wasn’t even past midnight! We’ve used HCS for periodic maintenance and there were zero complaints on that front as well. They proactively told me about their off season special rates and I jumped at the opportunity to save a little do-​rae-​mi.
Fast forward to this past December. With the help of the tax credit, we installed a new furnace, AC and zone system. Steve helped us decide on the most efficient and applicable model for our application. He actually steered us away from the «Cadillac» version b/​c it was overkill and a waste of money. The install crew was extremely professional, tidy and thorough. The job was done ahead of schedule and went just swimmingly… until later that same day when the air bladder control dampers caused popping in the ductwork. I theorized that possibly it was needing to «settle in» and eventually go away. Well, after a long holiday and an extra week or two, the popping did not go away. To make a long story, less long, Steve and Mike both came by on a Saturday, looked at the system and realized it needed to be changed and possibly may have suffered some supply chain quality issues. Based on my schedule, they arrived a week or so later and spent ½ of the day completely replacing the system with electromechanical dampers. This took care of the issue.
I’m fully confident in recommending HCS to someone for a new install, repair service call or even preventative maintenance on your system. In working with a contractor for this many years, I’ve come to learn that the dedication to exceptional service they have instilled in this company is an intertwined value that doesn’t fade with time, work load or the occasional «challenge». As a matter of fact, I have recommended HCS on several occasions and have been met with squarely positive feedback. I hope this review helps you in your decision process.

Home Comfort put in a new furnace and a/​c in my house. It is a zoned system. It’s great for a pretty big house but was built for only one furnace. They also installed a gas heater and thermostat in my garage. Talk about awesome! I set it at 45 degrees so it doesn’t cost too much to run, but 45 is waaaaay better than –20!
I have been overwhelmed with their great service. The cost to install the new equipment was very good. A lot less than some estimates.
